Iyyaasuu 14

1 Lafti Israaʼeloonni biyya Kanaʼaan keessatti akka dhaalaatti argatan kan Eleʼaazaar lubichi, Iyyaasuun ilmi Nuunitii fi hangafoonni balbala gosoota Israaʼel isaaniif qoodan kanaa dha.

And these are the countries which the children of Israel obtained as an inheritance in the land of Canaan, which Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the divisions of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for an inheritance unto them,

2 Dhaalli isaanii kunis akkuma Waaqayyo Musee ajajetti ixaadhaan gosa sagalii fi walakkaa gosa tokkootiif kenname.

By the lot as their inheritance: as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and the half tribe.

3 Museen karaa baʼa Yordaanosiin gosoota lamaanii fi walakkaaf dhaala godhee kennee ture; gosa Lewwiitiif garuu warra kaan gidduutti dhaala tokko illee hin kennine;

For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but unto the Levites he had given no inheritance among them.

4 ilmaan Yoosef gosa lama taʼanii turaniitii; isaanis Minaasee fi Efreem. Lewwonni garuu magaalaawwan keessa jiraatan, bushaayee fi loon isaanii bobbaafatan malee qooda lafaa tokko illee hin arganne.

For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Menasseh and Ephraim; therefore they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their open spaces for their cattle and for their substance.

5 Kanaafuu Israaʼeloonni akkuma Waaqayyo Musee ajajetti biyya sana hiratan.

As the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel, and so divided they the land.

6 Ergasiis namoonni Yihuudaa Gilgaalitti gara Iyyaasuu dhufan; Kaaleb ilmi Yefunee namichi gosa Qeneez sun akkana jedheen; “Ati waan Waaqayyo Qaadesh Barnee keessatti waaʼee keetii fi waaʼee koo Musee nama Waaqaa sanatti dubbate ni beekta.

And the children of Judah came near unto Joshua in Gilgal; and Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, Thou well knowest the word which the Lord spoke unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thyself in Kadesh-barnea'.

7 Yeroo Museen garbichi Waaqayyoo sun akka ani biyyattii basaasuuf Qaadesh Barneetii na erge umuriin koo waggaa afurtama ture. Anis gabaasa waan mirkaneeffadhe sanaa nan fideef;

Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea' to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

8 obboloonni koo warri na wajjin achi dhaqan garuu akka onneen sabaa sodaadhaan baqxu godhan. Taʼus ani garaa koo guutuudhaan Waaqayyo Waaqa koo duukaa buʼe.

But my brethren who had gone up with me caused the heart of the people to be faint; but I wholly followed the Lord my God.

9 Kanaafuu Museen gaafas akkana jedhee naa kakate; ‘Sababii ati garaa kee guutuudhaan Waaqayyo Waaqa koo duukaa buuteef, lafti miilli kee tuqe sun hamma bara baraatti dhaala keetii fi dhaala ilmaan keetii taʼa.’

And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy foot hath trodden shall belong to thee for an inheritance, and to thy children for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.

10 “Egaa Waaqayyo akkuma waadaa gale sanatti, gaafa Museedhaan akkas jedhe kan yeroo Israaʼel gammoojjii keessa asii fi achi jooraa turee jalqabee waggaa afurtamii shan na jiraachiseera. Kanaafuu ani harʼa kunoo waggaa saddeettamii shan guuteera!

And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he hath spoken: it is now forty and five years since the Lord spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty and five years old.

11 Ani harʼas akkuma gaafa Museen na erge sanaa jabaa dha; ani akkuman dur ture sana amma iyyuu duula dhaquuf jabaa dha.

I am yet this day as strong as I was on the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out, and to come in.

12 Egaa amma biyya gaaraa kan Waaqayyo gaafa sana waadaa naa gale kana naa kenni. Ati mataan kee iyyuu akka Anaaqonni achi keessa jiraatan, akka magaalaawwan isaanii gurguddaa taʼanii fi dallaa jabaan marfaman gaafas dhageesseerta; yoo Waaqayyo na gargaare garuu ani akkuma Waaqayyo jedhe sanatti ariʼee isaan baasa.”

Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spoke on that day; for thou didst hear on that day that the 'Anakim were there, and great fortified cities: perhaps the Lord will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as the Lord hath spoken.

13 Iyyaasuunis Kaaleb ilma Yefunee eebbisee Kebroonin dhaala godhee kenneef.

And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron unto Caleb the son of Yephunneh for an inheritance.

14 Kanaafuu sababii inni garaa isaa guutuudhaan Waaqayyo Waaqa Israaʼel duukaa buʼeef Kebroon hamma harʼaatti iyyuu dhaala Kaaleb ilma Yefunee namicha gosa Qeneez sanaa taatee hafte.

Therefore did Hebron become the inheritance of Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite unto this day; for the cause that he had wholly followed the Lord the God of Israel.

15 Kebroon duraan maqaa namicha Arbaaq jedhamu kan Anaaqota hunda keessaa nama guddaa ture tokkootiin Kiriyaati Arbaaq jedhamtee waamamaa turte. Ergasiis biyyattiin waraana irraa boqotte.

And the name of Hebron was aforetimes Kiryatharba', who was the greatest man among the 'Anakim. And the land had rest from war.
