Yohannis 8
1 Yesuus garuu gara Tulluu Ejersaa dhaqe.
And Iesus went vnto the mount of Oliues,
2 Ganama bariis deebiʼee mana qulqullummaa dhufe; innis namni hundumtuu isa biratti walitti qabamnaan taaʼee isaan barsiise.
And early in the morning came againe into the Temple, and all the people came vnto him, and he sate downe, and taught them.
3 Barsiistonni seeraatii fi Fariisonni dubartii ejja irratti qabamte tokko isatti fidan. Gidduu isaaniis dhaabachiisanii,
Then the Scribes, and the Pharises brought vnto him a woman, taken in adulterie, and set her in the middes,
4 Yesuusiin akkana jedhan; “Yaa barsiisaa, dubartiin kun utuu ejja hojjettuu qabamte.
And said vnto him, Master, we foud this woman committing adulterie, euen in the very acte.
5 Museen Seera keessatti akka warri akkanaa dhagaadhaan tumaman nu ajajeera. Ati immoo maal jetta?”
Now Moses in our Law commanded, that such should be stoned: what sayest thou therefore?
6 Isaanis waan ittiin isa himatan argachuuf jedhanii isa qoruudhaaf waan kana gaafatan. Yesuus garuu gad jedhee quba isaatiin lafa irratti barreessuu jalqabe.
And this they saide to tempt him, that they might haue, whereof to accuse him. But Iesus stouped downe, and with his finger wrote on the groud.
7 Isaanis ittuma fufanii isa gaafannaan ol jedhee, “Isin keessaa namni cubbuu hin qabne dursee isheetti dhagaa haa darbatu” jedheen.
And while they continued asking him, hee lift himselfe vp, and sayde vnto them, Let him that is among you without sinne, cast the first stone at her.
8 Ammas gad jedhee lafa irratti barreesse.
And againe hee stouped downe, and wrote on the ground.
9 Isaanis yommuu kana dhagaʼanitti maanguddootaa jalqabanii tokko tokkoon baʼanii sokkan; Yesuus immoo dubartittii achuma dhaabattee jirtu wajjin kophaa hafe.
And when they heard it, being accused by their owne conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at ye eldest euen to the last: so Iesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the mids.
10 Yesuusis ol jedhee, “Dubartii nana, warri si himatan meerre? Namni tokko iyyuu sitti hin murree?” jedheen.
When Iesus had lift vp himselfe againe, and sawe no man, but the woman, hee saide vnto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 Isheenis, “Yaa Gooftaa, namni tokko iyyuu natti hin murre” jetteen. Yesuusis, “Anis sitti hin muruu deemi; garuu siʼachi cubbuu hin hojjetin” jedheen.]
She said, No man, Lord. And Iesus said, Neither do I condemne thee: go and sinne no more.
12 Yesuus ammas, “Ani ifa addunyaa ti. Namni na duukaa buʼu kam iyyuu ifa jireenyaa qabaata malee dukkana keessa hin deddeebiʼu” jedhee isaanitti dubbate.
Then spake Iesus againe vnto them, saying, I am that light of the worlde: hee that followeth mee, shall not walke in darkenes, but shall haue that light of life.
13 Fariisonnis, “Ati waaʼee mataa keetii dhugaa baata; dhuga baʼumsi kee immoo dhugaa miti” jedhaniin.
The Pharises therefore saide vnto him, Thou bearest recorde of thy selfe: thy recorde is not true.
14 Yesuusis akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani yoon ofii kootiif dhugaa baʼe illee ani akkan eessaa dhufee fi akkan garam deemu waanan beekuuf dhuga baʼumsi koo dhugaa dha. Isin garuu akka ani eessaa dhufe yookaan akka ani garam deemu hin beektan.
Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them, Though I beare recorde of my selfe, yet my recorde is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I goe.
15 Isin akka yaada fooniitti murteessitu; ani nama tokkotti illee hin muru.
Ye iudge after the flesh: I iudge no man.
16 Garuu ani yoon mure illee murtiin koo dhugaa dha; kan murus na qofa miti. Ani Abbaa na erge sana wajjinan jiraatii.
And if I also iudge, my iudgement is true: for I am not alone, but I, and the Father, that sent mee.
17 Dhuga baʼumsi nama lamaa akka dhugaa taʼe Seera keessan keessatti barreeffameera.
And it is also written in your Lawe, that the testimonie of two men is true.
18 Ani ofii kootiif dhugaa nan baʼa; Abbaan na erges waaʼee koo dhugaa baʼa.”
I am one that beare witnes of my selfe, and the Father that sent me, beareth witnes of me.
19 Isaanis, “Abbaan kee eessa jira?” jedhanii isa gaafatan. Yesuus immoo deebisee, “Isin anas, Abbaa koos hin beektan; utuu na beektanii silaa Abbaa koos ni beektu turtan” jedhe.
Then saide they vnto him, Where is that Father of thine? Iesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor that Father of mine. If ye had knowen me, ye should haue knowen that Father of mine also.
20 Yesuus utuu mana qulqullummaa keessatti, kutaa buusiin itti kuufamu keessatti barsiisaa jiruu dubbii kana dubbate. Garuu waan saʼaatiin isaa hin gaʼiniif namni tokko iyyuu isa hin qabne.
These wordes spake Iesus in the treasurie, as hee taught in the Temple, and no man layde handes on him: for his houre was not yet come.
21 Yesuus amma illee, “Ani nan deema; isin na barbaaddu; cubbuu keessaniinis ni duutu. Isin iddoo ani dhaqu dhufuu hin dandeessan” isaaniin jedhe.
Then saide Iesus againe vnto them, I goe my way, and ye shall seeke me, and shall die in your sinnes, Whither I goe, can ye not come.
22 Yihuudoonnis, “‘Isin iddoo ani dhaqu dhufuu hin dandeessan’ jechuun isaa of ajjeesuufii laata?” jedhan.
Then said the Iewes, Will he kill himselfe, because he saith, Whither I goe, can ye not come?
23 Innis ittuma fufee akkana jedhe; “Isin kan gadii ti; ani kan olii ti. Isin kan addunyaa kanaa ti; ani immoo kan addunyaa kanaa miti.
And hee saide vnto them, Ye are from beneath, I am from aboue: ye are of this world, I am not of this worlde.
24 Akka isin cubbuu keessaniin duutan ani isinitti himeera; isin yoo akka ani isa taʼe amanuu baattan, cubbuu keessaniin ni duutu.”
I said therefore vnto you, That ye shall die in your sinnes: for except ye beleeue, that I am he, ye shall die in your sinnes.
25 Isaanis, “Ati eenyu?” jedhanii isa gaafatan. Yesuus immoo akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani isuma jalqabaa kaasee isinitti dubbachaa turee dha.
Then saide they vnto him, Who art thou? And Iesus saide vnto them, Euen the same thing that I said vnto you from the beginning.
26 Ani waaʼee keessan waanan jedhuu fi waanan murteessu baayʼeen qaba. Garuu inni na erge dhugaa qabeessa; anis waanan isa irraa dhagaʼe addunyaatti nan hima.”
I haue many things to say, and to iudge of you: but he that sent me, is true, and the things that I haue heard of him, those speake I to the world.
27 Isaan garuu akka inni waaʼee Abbaa isaa isaanitti himaa ture hin hubanne.
They vnderstoode not that hee spake to them of the Father.
28 Kanaafuu Yesuus akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Yommuu Ilma Namaa ol fuutanitti akka ani isa taʼe, waanuma Abbaan na barsiisen dubbadha malee akka ani ofii kootiin homaa hin hojjennees ni beektu.
Then said Iesus vnto them, When ye haue lift vp the Sonne of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I doe nothing of my selfe, but as my Father hath taught me, so I speake these things.
29 Inni na erge na wajjin jira; sababii ani yeroo hunda waan isa gammachiisu hojjedhuuf, inni kophaa koo na hin dhiifne.”
For he that sent me, is with me: the Father hath not left me alone, because I do alwayes those things that please him.
30 Utuma inni dubbatuus, namoonni baayʼeen isatti amanan.
As hee spake these thinges, many beleeued in him.
31 Yesuus Yihuudoota isatti amananiin akkana jedhe; “Yoo dubbii kootti cichitanii jiraattan isin dhuguma barattoota koo ti.
Then saide Iesus to the Iewes which beleeued in him, If ye continue in my worde, ye are verely my disciples,
32 Dhugaas ni beektu; dhugaanis bilisa isin baasa.”
And shall know the trueth, and the trueth shall make you free.
33 Isaanis, “Nu sanyii Abrahaam; nu eenyumaafuu takkumaa hin garboomne. Yoos ati akkamitti bilisa baatu nuun jetta ree?” jedhaniin.
They answered him, Wee be Abrahams seede, and were neuer bonde to any man: why sayest thou then, Ye shalbe made free?
34 Yesuusis deebisee akkana jedhe; “Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; namni cubbuu hojjetu hundi garbicha cubbuu ti.
Iesus answered them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, that whosoeuer committeth sinne, is the seruant of sinne.
And the seruant abideth not in the house for euer: but the Sonne abideth for euer. (aiōn g165)
36 Kanaafuu yoo Ilmi bilisa isin baase, isin dhugumaan bilisa ni baatu.
If that Sonne therefore shall make you free, ye shalbe free in deede.
37 Isin sanyii Abrahaam taʼuu keessan anuu beeka. Garuu sababii dubbiin koo isin keessatti iddoo hin qabneef na ajjeesuu barbaaddu.
I know that ye are Abrahams seede, but yee seeke to kill mee, because my worde hath no place in you.
38 Ani waanan Abbaa koo biratti argen dubbadha; isinis waanuma abbaa keessan irraa dhageessan hojjettu.”
I speake that which I haue seene with my Father: and ye doe that which ye haue seene with your father.
39 Isaanis, “Abbaan keenya Abrahaam” jedhan. Yesuus immoo akkana jedhe; “Isin utuu ijoollee Abrahaam taatanii silaa hojii Abrahaam hojjete ni hojjettu turtan.
They answered, and saide vnto him, Abraham is our father. Iesus said vnto them, If ye were Abrahams children, ye woulde doe the workes of Abraham.
40 Isin garuu ana nama dhugaa Waaqa irraa dhagaʼe isinitti hime ajjeesuu barbaaddu. Abrahaam waan akkasii hin hojjenne.
But nowe ye goe about to kill mee, a man that haue told you the trueth, which I haue heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Isin waan abbaan keessan hojjete hojjettu.” Isaanis, “Nu ejjaan hin dhalanne. Abbaa tokkicha qabna; innis Waaqa” jedhaniin.
Ye do the workes of your father. Then said they to him, We are not borne of fornication: we haue one Father, which is God.
42 Yesuusis akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Isin utuu Waaqni abbaa keessan taʼee silaa na jaallattu turtan; ani Waaqa biraa baʼeen dhufeetii. Isatu na erge malee ani ofii kootiin hin dhufne.
Therefore Iesus sayde vnto them, If God were your Father, then woulde ye loue mee: for I proceeded foorth, and came from God, neither came I of my selfe, but he sent me.
43 Wanni ani dubbadhu maaliif isinii hin galu? Sababiin isaas waan isin waan ani jedhu fudhachuu hin feeneef.
Why doe ye not vnderstande my talke? because ye cannot heare my worde.
44 Isin ijoollee abbaa keessanii ijoollee diiyaabiloos; fedhiin keessanis hawwii abbaa keessanii raawwachuu dha. Inni jalqabumaa kaasee nama ajjeesaa ture; waan dhugaan isa keessa hin jirreef inni dhugaadhaan hin jiraatu. Inni sobduu fi abbaa sobaa waan taʼeef yommuu soba dubbatutti ofuma keessaa fuudhee dubbata.
Ye are of your father the deuill, and the lustes of your father ye will doe: hee hath bene a murtherer from the beginning, and abode not in the trueth, because there is no trueth in him. When hee speaketh a lie, then speaketh hee of his owne: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
45 Isin garuu waan ani dhugaa dubbadhuuf na hin amantan!
And because I tell you the trueth, yee beleeue me not.
46 Isin keessaa namni cubbuudhaan na himatu eenyu? Erga ani dhugaa dubbadhee, isin maaliif na hin amanne?
Which of you can rebuke me of sinne? and if I say the trueth, why do ye not beleeue me?
47 Namni kan Waaqaa taʼe kam iyyuu dubbii Waaqaa ni dhagaʼa. Isin waan kan Waaqaa hin taʼiniif hin dhageessan.”
He that is of God, heareth Gods wordes: yee therefore heare them not, because ye are not of God.
48 Yihuudoonnis deebisanii, “Ati nama Samaariyaa ti; hafuura hamaatu si keessa jira jechuun keenya dhugaa mitii?” jedhaniin.
Then answered the Iewes, and said vnto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritane, and hast a deuil?
49 Yesuus immoo akkana jedhe; “Hafuurri hamaan na keessa hin jiru; ani Abbaa koo nan kabaja; isin garuu na hin kabajjan.
Iesus answered, I haue not a deuil, but I honour my Father, and ye haue dishonoured me.
50 Ani ulfina mataa koo hin barbaadu; garuu kan isa barbaadu tokkotu jira; innis Abbaa murtii ti.
And I seeke not mine owne praise: but there is one that seeketh it, and iudgeth.
51 Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; eenyu iyyuu yoo dubbii koo eege bara baraan duʼa hin argu.” (aiōn g165)
Verely, verely I say vnto you, If a man keepe my word, he shall neuer see death. (aiōn g165)
52 Yihuudoonnis akkana jedhaniin; “Akka hafuurri hamaan si keessa jiru nu amma barreerra. Abrahaam duʼeera; raajonnis duʼaniiru; ati garuu, ‘Eenyu iyyuu yoo dubbii koo eege bara baraan duʼa hin dhandhamu’ jetta. (aiōn g165)
Then said the Iewes to him, Now know we that thou hast a deuill. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets: and thou sayest, If a man keepe my worde, he shall neuer taste of death. (aiōn g165)
53 Ati abbaa keenya Abrahaam caaltaa? Inni duʼeera; raajonnis duʼaniiru. Egaa ati eenyu ofiin jetta ree?”
Art thou greater then our father Abraham, which is dead? and the Prophets are dead: whome makest thou thy selfe?
54 Yesuus akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani yoon ofii kootiif ulfina kenne, ulfinni koo gatii hin qabu. Kan ulfina naa kennu Abbaa koo isuma isin Waaqa keenya jettaniin sanaa dha.
Iesus answered, If I honour my selfe, mine honour is nothing worth: it is my Father that honoureth me, whome ye say, that hee is your God.
55 Yoo isin isa beekuu baattan illee ani isa beeka. Ani utuu isa hin beeku jedhee silaa akkuma keessan sobduu nan taʼa ture. Ani garuu isa beeka; dubbii isaa illee nan eega.
Yet ye haue not knowen him: but I knowe him, and if I should say I know him not, I should be a liar like vnto you: but I knowe him, and keepe his worde.
56 Abbaan keessan Abrahaam guyyaa koo arguuf gammadee ture; innis ni arge; ni gammades.”
Your father Abraham reioyced to see my day, and he sawe it, and was glad.
57 Yihuudoonnis, “Umuriin kee waggaa shantama iyyuu hin guunne; yoos Abrahaamin argiteertaa?” jedhaniin.
Then sayd ye Iewes vnto him, Thou art not yet fiftie yeere olde, and hast thou seene Abraham?
58 Yesuusis, “Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; utuu Abrahaam hin dhalatin iyyuu ani anuma” isaaniin jedhe.
Iesus sayd vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, before Abraham was, I am.
59 Kana irratti isaan isa dhaʼuuf jedhanii dhagaa guurratan; Yesuus garuu dhokatee mana qulqullummaatii baʼee deeme.
Then tooke they vp stones, to cast at him, but Iesus hid himselfe, and went out of the Temple: And hee passed through the middes of them, and so went his way.
