Yohannis 7
1 Kana booddee Yesuus Galiilaa keessa deddeebiʼaa ture; sababii Yihuudoonni isa ajjeesuu barbaadaniif inni Yihuudaa keessa hin deddeebine.
After these things Jesus resided in Galilee: for He would not appear in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.
2 Ayyaanni Daasii Yihuudootaa dhiʼaatee ture.
Now the Jews feast called the feast of tabernacles was near;
3 Obboloonni isaas akkana jedhaniin; “Akka barattoonni kee warri achii waan ati hojjettu arganiif kaʼiitii Yihuudaa dhaqi.
his brethren therefore said, Depart from hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples there also may see the works which thou performest.
4 Namni utuu ifaan ifatti beekamuu barbaaduu dhoksaatti waa hojjetu hin jiruutii. Atis sababii waan kana hojjettuuf addunyaatti of mulʼisi.”
For no man doth any thing in secret, who is himself desirous to be known in public. As thou dost these wonderful things, make thyself known to the world.
5 Obboloonni isaa iyyuu isatti hin amanne tureetii.
For neither did his brethren believe in Him.
6 Yesuusis akkana jedheen; “Yeroon koo amma illee hin geenye; isiniif garuu yeroon hundi mijaaʼaa dha.
Then saith Jesus unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always alike ready; for the world cannot hate you:
7 Addunyaan isin jibbuu hin dandaʼu; ana garuu akka hojiin isaa hamaa taʼe waanan itti dhugaa baʼuuf na jibba.
but me it hates, because I bear my testimony concerning it, that it's deeds are evil.
8 Isin gara Ayyaana sanaa dhaqaa. Ani garuu waan yeroon koo amma illee hin gaʼiniif gara Ayyaanichaatti ol hin baʼu.”
Go ye up to this feast as soon as ye please; for I am not yet going up to it, because my time is not yet fully come.
9 Inni waan kana isaanitti dubbatee Galiilaatti hafe.
And after He had said these things unto them, He stayed a while in Galilee.
10 Garuu erga obboloonni isaa gara Ayyaanichaatti ol baʼanii booddee innis utuu ifaan ifatti hin taʼin dhoksaadhaan ol baʼe.
But when his brethren were gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not in a public manner but as it were in private.
11 Yihuudoonnis Ayyaanicha irratti, “Namichi sun eessa jira?” jedhanii gaafachaa isa barbaadaa turan.
The Jews therefore sought for Him at the feast, and said, Where is He?
12 Namoota gidduuttis waaʼee isaa guungummii guddaatu ture. Namoonni tokko tokko, “Inni nama gaarii dha” jedhan. Warri kaan immoo, “Akkas miti; inni nama dogoggorsa” jedhan.
And there was much murmuring among the people concerning Him: for some said, He is a good man; others said, No: He deceiveth the people.
13 Garuu waan Yihuudoota sodaataniif namni tokko iyyuu ifaan ifatti waaʼee isaa hin dubbanne.
No one however spake openly in favor of Him, for fear of the Jews.
14 Gara walakkaa Ayyaanichaattis Yesuus mana qulqullummaa seenee barsiisuu jalqabe.
But when it was now about the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
15 Yihuudoonnis dinqifatanii, “Namichi kun akkamitti utuu hin baratin beekumsa akkanaa qabaate?” jedhan.
And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, who never learnt?
16 Yesuusis akkana jedhee deebiseef; “Barsiisni koo kan isa na ergeeti malee kan koo miti.
Jesus answered them and said, The doctrine that I teach is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 Namni fedhii Waaqaa gochuu barbaadu kam iyyuu barsiisni koo Waaqa biraa dhufuu fi dhufuu baachuu isaa yookaan ani ofuma kootiin dubbachuu fi dubbachuu baachuu koo ni beeka.
If any man desire to do his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 Namni ofuma isaatiin dubbatu inni ofuma isaatii ulfina argachuu barbaada; namni ulfina kan isa erge sanaa barbaadu garuu inni nama dhugaa ti; jalʼinnis isa keessa hin jiru.
He, that speaketh from himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of Him that sent him is true, and there is no imposture in him.
19 Museen seera isinii kenneera mitii? Isin keessaa garuu namni tokko iyyuu seera sana hin eegu. Isin maaliif na ajjeesuu barbaaddu?”
Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you observeth the law? wherefore else do ye seek to kill me?
20 Jarris deebisanii, “Hafuura hamaatu si keessa jira; eenyutu si ajjeesuu barbaada?” jedhaniin.
The people answered and said, Thou art possessed by a demon: who seeketh to kill thee?
21 Yesuusis deebisee akkana jedheen; “Ani hojii tokko hojjennaan hundi keessan dinqifattan.
Jesus answered and said unto them, I performed one miracle on the sabbath, and ye are all amazed at it.
22 Museen seera dhagna qabaa isinii kenne; dhagna qabaa garuu abbootiitu jalqabe malee Musee miti; isinis Sanbataan nama dhagna qabdu.
Now Moses gave you the law of circumcision, (not that it is originally from Moses, but from the patriarchs, ) and ye circumcise even on the sabbath:
23 Akka seerri Musee hin cabneef erga namni tokko Sanbataan dhagna qabachuu dandaʼee, isin maaliif sababii ani Sanbataan dhagna namaa guutuu fayyiseef natti aartu?
if then a man receive circumcision on the sabbath-day, that the law of Moses may not be broken; are ye angry with me, because I made a man perfectly well on the sabbath-day?
24 Murtii qajeelaa kennaa malee, bifa qofa ilaaltanii hin murteessinaa.”
Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement.
25 Kana irratti namoota Yerusaalem keessaa tokko tokko akkana jedhan; “Inni kun namicha isaan ajjeesuuf barbaadan sana mitii?
Therefore some of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this He whom they seek to put to death?
26 Kunoo inni ifatti baʼee dubbata; isaanis homaa isaan hin jenne. Abbootiin taayitaa akka inni Kiristoos taʼe sirriitti beekaniiruu laata?
and here He talketh openly, and they say nothing to Him: Do the rulers indeed know, that this is in truth the Messiah?
27 Taʼus namichi kun nama eessaa akka taʼe nu beekna. Kiristoos yommuu dhufutti garuu inni eessaa akka dhufu namni tokko iyyuu hin beeku.”
But we know whence this man is; whereas when Christ cometh, no one knoweth whence He is.
28 Yesuus utuu mana qulqullummaa keessatti barsiisuu sagalee isaa ol fudhatee akkana jedhe; “Isin na beektu; akka ani eessaa dhufe illee beektu. Ani ofii kootiin hin dhufne; inni na erge sun dhuga qabeessa. Isin garuu isa hin beektan;
Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
29 ani garuu sababiin isa biraa dhufee fi sababii inni na ergeef isa nan beeka.”
But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He hath sent me.
30 Kana irratti isaan isa qabuu yaalan; garuu waan saʼaatiin isaa hin gaʼiniif namni tokko iyyuu harkaan isa hin tuqne.
They sought therefore to seize Him, but no one laid hand on Him, because his hour was not yet come.
31 Taʼus namoonni baayʼeen isatti amanan. Isaanis, “Kiristoos yommuu dhufutti namicha kana caalaa mallattoo hojjetaa?” jedhan.
And many of the people believed on Him, and said, When the Messiah cometh, will He do more miracles than this man hath done?
32 Fariisonnis utuu namoonni waaʼee isaa waan akkanaa guungumanuu dhagaʼan. Luboonni hangafoonnii fi Fariisonni Yesuusin qabsiisuudhaaf eegdota mana qulqullummaa ergan.
Now the pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him: and they, with the chief priests, sent officers to seize Him.
33 Yesuusis akkana jedheen; “Ani yeroo gabaabaa isin wajjin jira; ergasii gara isa na erge sanaa nan dhaqa.
Therefore Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I am to be among you, and then I shall go to Him that sent me.
34 Isin na barbaaddu; garuu na hin argattan; iddoo ani jirus dhufuu hin dandeessan.”
Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come.
35 Yihuudoonnis akkana waliin jedhan; “Namichi kun akka nu isa hin argineef eessa dhaquu yaade laata? Gara saba keenya warra Giriikota keessa faffacaʼanii dhaqee Giriikota barsiisaa?
Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will He go, that we shall not find Him? will He go to them that are dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36 ‘Isin na barbaaddu; garuu na hin argattan; iddoo ani jirus dhufuu hin dandeessan’ jechuun isaas maal jechuu isaatii?”
What is the meaning of this speech, that He said, "Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come?"
37 Guyyaa Ayyaanichi itti hobbaʼu, guyyaa guddaa sana, Yesuus kaʼee dhaabatee sagalee guddaadhaan akkana jedhe; “Eenyu iyyuu yoo dheebote, gara koo dhufee haa dhugu.
And on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any one thirst, let him come unto me and drink.
38 Akkuma Katabbiin Qulqulluun jedhe nama natti amanu kam iyyuu laga bishaan jireenyaatu garaa isaa keessaa burqa.”
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, rivers of living water shall flow from within him.
39 Kunis waaʼee Hafuura Qulqulluu warri isatti amanan argachuuf jiranii dubbachuu isaa ti. Sababii Yesuus amma illee ulfina hin argatiniif Hafuuri Qulqulluun hamma yeroo sanaatti hin kennamne tureetii.
(This He spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive; for the holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 Namoota sana keessaa tokko tokko yommuu dubbii kana dhagaʼanitti, “Kun dhugumaanuu Raajicha” jedhan.
Many of the people therefore, when they heard this discourse, said, This is in truth a prophet.
41 Warri kaan immoo, “Inni Kiristoosii dha” jedhan. Namoonni kaanis akkana jedhan; “Kiristoos Galiilaadhaa dhufaa?
Others said, This is the Messiah. But some said, Shall the Messiah come out of Galilee?
42 Akka Kiristoos sanyii Daawit keessaa dhalatuu fi akka inni Beetlihemii, ganda Daawitii dhufu Katabbiin Qulqulluun ni dubbata mitii?”
Hath not the Scripture said, that Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town whence David was.
43 Akkasiin waaʼee Yesuus irratti garaa garummaan waldaa gidduutti uumame.
So there was a division among the people about Him.
44 Isaan keessaas tokko tokko isa qabuu barbaadan; garuu namni tokko iyyuu harkaan isa hin tuqne.
And some among them would have seized Him: but no one laid hands on Him.
45 Eegdonni sun gara luboota hangafootaatii fi gara Fariisotaatti deebiʼan; isaanis, “Isin maaliif isa hin fidin?” jedhanii eegdota sana gaafatan.
Then came the officers to the chief priests and pharisees, and they said, Why have ye not brought Him? and the officers answered,
46 Eegdonnis, “Takkumaa namni akka namicha kanaatti hin dubbanne” jedhanii deebisan.
Never man spake like this man.
47 Fariisonnis deebisanii akkana jedhan, “Isinis gowwoomfamtaniirtuu?
The pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?
48 Bulchitoota keessaa yookaan Fariisota keessaa namni tokko iyyuu isatti amaneeraa?
have any of the rulers believed on Him, or of the pharisees?
49 Sabni seera hin beekne kun garuu abaaramaa dha.”
but these people, who know not the law, are cursed.
50 Niqoodemoos inni duraan Yesuus bira dhaqee fi isaan keessaas tokko taʼe sun akkana isaaniin jedhe;
Upon this Nicodemus, (who came to Him by night)
51 “Seerri keenya utuu isa irraa hin dhagaʼin, waan inni hojjetes utuu hin beekin nama tokkotti ni muraa?”
being one of them, saith to them, Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he hath done?
52 Isaanis, “Atis nama Galiilaatii? Akka raajiin Galiilaadhaa hin kaane qoradhuu bira gaʼi” jedhaniin. [
They replied, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and see: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
53 Ergasii isaan hundinuu gara mana isaaniitti galan.
And every man went to his own house.
