Yohannis 13
1 Yeroon sun Ayyaana Faasiikaatiin dura ture. Yesuusis akka addunyaa kana keessaa gara Abbaa dhaquudhaaf saʼaatiin isaa gaʼe ni beeke. Innis warra kan isaa taʼan kanneen addunyaa keessa turan ni jaallate; hamma dhumaattis isaan jaallate.
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 Yeroo irbaataatti diiyaabiloos akka inni Yesuusin dabarsee kennuuf Yihuudaa Keeriyoticha ilma Simoon keessa duraan dursee yaada kaaʼe.
And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;
3 Yesuusis akka Abbaan waan hunda harka isaatti kenne, akka Waaqa biraa dhufee fi akka gara Waaqaatti deebiʼu illee beeka ture;
Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was going to God;
4 kanaaf irbaata irraa kaʼee, wayyaa isaa kan irraan uffate of irraa fuudhee lafa kaaʼe; fooxaas mudhiitti hidhate.
He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 Ergasii gabateetti bishaan naqatee miilla barattootaa dhiquu fi fooxaa mudhiitti hidhate sanaanis haquu jalqabe.
After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.
6 Inni gara Simoon Phexros dhufe; Phexrosis, “Yaa Gooftaa, situ miilla koo naa dhiqaa?” jedheen.
Then he cometh to Simon Peter: and Peter saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
7 Yesuus immoo deebisee, “Waan ani hojjechaa jiru ati amma hin beektu; booddee garuu ni hubatta” jedheen.
Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know after this.
8 Phexrosis, “Hin taʼu; ati gonkumaa miilla koo naa hin dhiqxu” jedheen. Yesuusis deebisee, “Yoo ani siif dhiquu baadhe ati na biraa qooda hin qabaattu” jedheen. (aiōn g165)
Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. (aiōn g165)
9 Simoon Phexrosis deebisee, “Yaa Gooftaa, yoos harka koo fi mataa koos malee miilla koo qofa hin taʼin” jedheen.
Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
10 Yesuusis, “Namni dhagna isaa dhiqate tokko miilla isaa qofa dhiqachuu isa barbaachisa; dhagni isaa guutuun qulqulluu dha. Isin qulqulluu dha; garuu hunda keessan miti” jedheen.
Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not except to wash his feet, but is wholly clean: and ye are clean, but not all.
11 Innis nama dabarsee isa kennuuf jiru beeka tureetii; sababiin inni, “Qulqulluun hunda keessan miti” jedheefis kanuma.
For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.
12 Innis erga miilla isaanii dhiqee booddee, uffata isaa uffatee iddoo isaatti deebiʼee taaʼe. Akkanas jedheen; “Isin waan ani isiniif godhe hubattanii?
So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was seated again, he said to them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Isin, ‘Barsiisaa’, ‘Gooftaas’ naan jettu; anis waan isuma isin jettan taʼeef isin dhuguma jettan.
Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 Yoos erga ani Gooftaa fi Barsiisaan keessan miilla keessan isinii dhiqee, isinis akkasuma miilla walii dhiquu qabdu.
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 Akkuma ani isinii godhe kana isinis akka gootaniif ani fakkeenya isinii kenneera.
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16 Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; garbichi gooftaa isaa hin caalu; ergamaanis kan isa erge hin caalu.
Verily, verily, I say to you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17 Egaa isin yoo waan kana beektanii hojii irra oolchitan isin eebbifamoo dha.
If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
18 “Ani waaʼee hunda keessanii dubbachaa hin jiru; ani warran filadhe nan beeka. Kun garuu dubbiin Katabbii Qulqulluu kan, ‘Inni buddeena koo nyaate koomee isaa natti ol fudhate’jedhu sun akka guutamuuf.
I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.
19 “Isin yommuu wanni kun taʼutti akka ani Isa taʼe akka amantaniif utuu inni hin taʼin amma isinitti nan hima.
Now I tell you before it cometh, that, when it hath come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.
20 Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; kan nama ani ergu kam iyyuu simatu hundinuu na simata; kan na simatu hundis isa na erge sana simata.”
Verily, verily, I say to you, He that receiveth whomever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
21 Yesuusis erga kana dubbatee booddee hafuuraan jeeqamee, “Ani dhuguman, dhuguman isinitti hima; isin keessaa tokko dabarsee na kenna” jedhee dhugaa baʼe.
When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 Barattoonni akka inni waaʼee eenyuu dubbate wallaalanii wal ilaalan.
Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke.
23 Barattoota keessaas inni Yesuus isa jaallatu tokko Yesuusitti irkatee maaddiitti dhiʼaatee ture.
Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
24 Simoon Phexrosis, “Mee eenyuu jechuu isaa akka taʼe isa gaafadhu!” jedhee nyaaraan barataa sanatti hime.
Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, to ask who it should be of whom he spoke.
25 Innis qoma Yesuusiitti hirkatee, “Yaa Gooftaa, eenyu innii?” jedhee gaafate.
He then lying on Jesus’ breast saith to him, Lord, who is it?
26 Yesuusis deebisee, “Namichi ani buddeena afaan kaaʼata tokkoo caabii keessa cuuphee kennuuf isa” jedhe. Innis buddeena caabii keessa cuuphee Yihuudaa ilma Simoon Keeriyotichaatiif kenne.
Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 Yihuudaas akkuma inni buddeenicha fudhateen Seexanni itti gale. Yesuusis, “Waan gochuuf jirtu dafii godhi” isaan jedhe.
And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus to him, What thou doest, do quickly.
28 Warra nyaataaf tataaʼan keessaas namni tokko iyyuu waan inni akkas isaan jedheef hin hubanne.
Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spoke this to him.
29 Sababii Yihuudaan korojoo maallaqaa baachaa tureefis isaan keessaa namoonni tokko tokko waan Yesuus, akka inni waan Ayyaanaaf barbaachisu bitu yookaan akka inni hiyyeeyyiif waa kennu isatti hime seʼan.
For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said to him, Buy those things that we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
30 Yihuudaanis akkuma buddeena sana fudhateen gad baʼe. Yeroon sunis halkan ture.
He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.
31 Erga Yihuudaan gad baʼee booddee Yesuus akkana jedhe; “Amma Ilmi Namaa ulfaateera; Waaqnis isaan ulfina argateera.
Therefore, when he had gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 Waaqni erga isaan ulfina argatee, Waaqni ofuma isaatiin Ilma ulfeessa; inni takkumaan isa ulfeessa.
If God is glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall immediately glorify him.
33 “Yaa ijoolle, ani yeroo gabaabaaf isin wajjinan jira. Isin na barbaaddu; ani akkuma Yihuudootaan, ‘Iddoo ani dhaqu isin dhufuu hin dandeessan’ jedhe sana ammas isiniin nan jedha.
Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said to the Jews, Where I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 “Akka isin wal jaallattaniif ani ajaja haaraa isiniifin kenna. Akkuma ani isin jaalladhetti isinis akkasuma wal jaalladhaa.
A new commandment I give to you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 Yoo isin jaalala waliif qabaattan namoonni hundinuu akka isin barattoota koo taatan kanaan ni beeku.”
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
36 Simoon Phexrosis, “Yaa Gooftaa, eessa dhaqxa?” jedhee isa gaafate. Yesuusis, “Ati amma iddoo ani dhaqu na faana dhaquu hin dandeessu; gara booddeetti garuu na duukaa buuta” jedhee deebiseef.
Simon Peter said to him, Lord, where goest thou? Jesus answered him, Where I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
37 Phexrosis, “Yaa Gooftaa, ani maaliifan amma si duukaa buʼuu hin dandeenye? Ani siif jedhee lubbuu koo nan kenna” jedheen.
Peter said to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.
38 Yesuusis deebisee, “Ati dhuguma naaf jettee lubbuu kee ni kennitaa? Ani dhuguman, dhuguman sitti hima; ati utuu indaanqoon hin iyyin yeroo sadii na ganta” jedheen.
Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me three times.
