< Iyyoob 9 >
1 Iyyoob akkana jedhee deebise:
Then answered Job, and said,
2 “Ani akka wanni kun dhugaa taʼe beeka. Namni garuu akkamitti fuula Waaqaa duratti qajeelaa taʼuu dandaʼa?
Truly I know that it is so: and how could a mortal be righteous before God?
3 Namni tokko yoo isa wajjin falmuu barbaade kuma keessaa siʼa tokko illee isaaf deebisuu hin dandaʼu.
If he were desirous to enter into a contest with him, he could not give him one answer out of a thousand.
4 Ogummaan isaa gad fagoo dha; humni isaas guddaa dha. Namni isaan mormee utuu hin miidhamin hafu jiraa?
He is wise of heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and escaped unscathed?
5 Inni utuu isaan hin beekin tulluuwwan iddoo isaaniitii buqqisa; dheekkamsa isaatiinis isaan gaggaragalcha.
[He it is] who removeth mountains, and they know it not, yea, when he overturneth them in his anger;
6 Lafa iddoo isheetii ni sochoosa; utubaawwan ishees ni raasa.
Who shaketh the earth loose out of her place, that her pillars tremble;
7 Inni biiftuu ni ajaja; isheenis hin baatu; urjiiwwanis chaappaadhaan ni cufa.
Who speaketh to the sun, and he shineth not, and around the stars he placeth a seal;
8 Isa qofatu samiiwwan diriirsa; dambalii galaanaa irras ni deema.
Who spread out the heavens by himself alone, and treadeth upon the hillocks of the sea;
9 Urjiiwwan Amaaketaa fi urjii sadee, Urjii torbii fi tuuta ‘Urjiiwwan Kibbaa’ jedhaman isatu uume.
Who made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, and the chambers the south;
10 Inni wantoota gurguddaa qoratanii bira gaʼuun hin dandaʼamne, dinqiiwwan hin lakkaaʼamne hojjeta.
Who doth great things which are quite unsearchable, and wonders which are quite without number.
11 Yommuu inni na bira darbu ani isa arguu hin dandaʼu; yommuu inni na cina deemus ani isa hubachuu hin dandaʼu.
Lo, were he to go past by me, I should not see him; and were he to pass along, I should not perceive him.
12 Yoo inni butee deeme eenyutu isa dhowwuu dandaʼa? Eenyutus, ‘Ati maal hojjettaa?’ isaan jechuu dandaʼa?
Behold, were he to snatch aught away, who could hold him back? who would say unto him, What dost thou?
13 Waaqni dheekkamsa isaa hin deebisu; warri Raʼaabin gargaaran iyyuu gad deebiʼu.
God will not withdraw his anger: beneath him sink down the helpers of the proud.
14 “Yoos ani akkamittan isatti falmuu dandaʼa? Isatti falmuufis akkamittan dubbii filachuu dandaʼa?
How much less then could I answer him, and select my words [to contend] with him?
15 Ani nama balleessaa hin qabne utuun taʼe iyyuu, isaaf deebisuu hin dandaʼu; abbaa Murtii koo araara kadhachuu qofa nan dandaʼa.
Whom, were I even righteous, I could not answer? to him that condemneth me I could [only] make supplication.
16 Yoo ani isa waammadhee inni naa deebise illee, akka inni na dhagaʼu ani hin amanu.
Or were I to call, and he would answer me, I could yet not believe that he would give ear unto my voice—
17 Inni bubbee hamaadhaan na caccabsa; madaa koos sababii malee natti baayʼisa.
He that bruiseth me with [his] tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without a cause.
18 Inni waan hadhaaʼaadhaan na guute malee akka ani hafuura fudhadhuuf illee yeroo naaf hin kennine.
He suffereth me not to recover my breath; but feedeth me overmuch with bitter things.
19 Waaʼee jabinaa taanaan inni jabaa dha! Waaʼee murtii qajeelaas taanaan eenyutu isa waamuu dandaʼa?
If it regard strength, lo, he is the powerful; and if justice, who will cite him for me to appear?
20 Utuu ani nama balleessaa hin qabne taʼe iyyuu afaan koo natti mura; utuma ani hirʼina hin qabaannes yakkamaa taʼuu koo hima.
If I were righteous even, my own mouth would condemn me: were I innocent, it would still prove me perverse.
21 “Ani hirʼina qabaachuu baadhu iyyuu, waaʼee ofii kootii hin yaaddaʼu; jireenya koos nan tuffadha.
I am innocent; I will not have regard for myself: I will despise my life.
22 Wanni hundinuu tokkuma; kanaafuu ani, ‘Inni isa hirʼina hin qabnes, isa hamaas ni balleessa’ nan jedha.
One thing is [certain], therefore have I said it, The innocent and the wicked he bringeth to their end.
23 Yommuu dhaʼichi buʼee duʼa tasaa fidutti, inni badiisa warra yakka hin qabneetti ni qoosa.
If a scourge should slay suddenly, he will mock at the trial of the guiltless.
24 Yommuu lafti harka hamootaa jala galtutti, inni ija abbootii murtii ishee ni jaamsa; kun yoo isa taʼuu baate, egaa eenyu ree?
Is a land given up into the hand of the wicked? he covereth the faces of its judges: if this be not the truth, who is it then?
25 “Barri jireenya koo nama fiigu caalaa ariifata; utuu gammachuu tokko illee hin argin darba.
And my days pass swifter than a runner: they flee away, they see no happiness,
26 Inni akkuma bidiruu dhallaadduu irraa hojjetamee, akkuma risaa waa butachuuf gad barrisuu ariifata.
They hasten along like pirate ships: like the eagle that stoopeth down upon his food.
27 Yoo ani, ‘Guungummii koo nan dhiisa; nyaara guuruus dhiisee nan seeqa’ jedhe,
If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my sorrowful countenance, and recover my cheerfulness:
28 ani amma iyyuu dhiphina koo hunda nan sodaadha; akka ati akka nama balleessaa hin qabneetti na hin hedne nan beekaatii.
O then would I be in dread of all my pains; I know that thou wilt not declare me innocent.
29 Erga yakkamaa taʼuun koo beekamee, ani maaliifin akkasumaan dadhaba ree?
I must ever be guilty: why then should I fatigue myself for nought?
30 Utuma ani saamunaadhaan dhiqadhee handoodeedhaanis harka koo qulqulleeffadhe iyyuu,
If I were to wash myself in snow-water, to cleanse myself in the purity of my hands:
31 ati hamma uffanni koos na balfutti, boolla keessa na dhidhimsita.
Even then wouldst thou plunge me in the ditch, that my own clothes would render me abhorred.
32 “Akka ani isaa deebisuu fi mana murtiittis wal falminuuf, inni akka koo nama foonii miti.
For he is not a man, like me, that I could answer him, that we should enter together into a contest.
33 Utuu namni nu lamaan irra harka kaaʼu, kan gidduu keenyattis araara buusu tokko jiraatee,
There is no one who can decide between us, who could lay his hand upon us both.
34 utuu Waaqni ulee isaa narraa kaasee silaa naasisuun isaa na hin sodaachisu ture.
Let him but remove from me his rod, and let not his dread terrify me:
35 Silaa ani utuun isa hin sodaatin nan dubbadhan ture; haalan amma keessa jiruun garuu hin dandaʼu.
Then would I speak, and not fear him; for the like I feel not within me.
