< Iyyoob 5 >
1 “Mee waami, namni deebii siif kennu jiraa? Qulqulloota keessaas ati gara isa kamiitti gorta?
“Pray, call, is there any to answer you? And to which of the holy ones do you turn?
2 Nama gowwaa aariitu ajjeesa; raatuus hinaaffaatu galaafata.
For provocation slays the perverse, And envy puts to death the simple,
3 Namni gowwaan hidda isaa gad fageeffatee nan arge; manni isaa garuu yoosuma abaarame.
I have seen the perverse taking root, And I mark his habitation straight away,
4 Ijoolleen isaa nagaa hin qaban; isaan karra duratti burkutaaʼan; namni isaan oolchus hin jiru.
His sons are far from safety, And they are bruised in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
5 Namni beelaʼe midhaan isaa qoraattii keessaa iyyuu fuudhee nyaata; inni dheebotes qabeenya isaa hawwa.
Whose harvest the hungry eat, And even take it from the thorns, And the designing swallowed their wealth.
6 Rakkinni biyyoo keessaa hin burquutii; dhiphinnis lafa keessaa hin biqilu.
For sorrow does not come forth from the dust, Nor does misery spring up from the ground.
7 Akkuma qaanqeen ibiddaa ol facaʼu namni rakkinaaf dhalata.
For man is born to misery, And the sparks go high to fly.
8 “Garuu utuu ana taʼee Waaqa nan barbaaddadha; dhimma koos fuula isaa duratti nan dhiʼeeffadhan ture.
Yet I inquire for God, And for God I give my word,
9 Inni dinqiiwwan qoranii bira gaʼuu hin dandeenye, hojiiwwan dinqisiisoo lakkaaʼamuu hin dandeenye hojjeta.
Doing great things, and there is no searching. Wonderful, until there is no numbering.
10 Inni bokkaadhaan lafa ni quubsa; lafa qotiisaas bishaan ni obaasa.
Who is giving rain on the face of the land, And is sending waters on the out-places.
11 Warra gad qabaman ol baasa; warra gaddanis iddoo nagaatti ol kaasa.
To set the low on a high place, And the mourners have been high [in] safety.
12 Akka hojiin harka isaanii hin milkoofneef, inni karoora jalʼootaa ni fashaleessa.
Making void thoughts of the cunning, And their hands do not execute wisdom.
13 Inni ogeeyyii haxxummaa isaaniitiin qaba; malli jalʼootaa immoo dafee ni bada.
Capturing the wise in their subtlety, And the counsel of wrestling ones was hurried,
14 Guyyaan dukkana isaanitti taʼa; guyyaa saafaas akka nama dukkana keessa jiruu qaqqabannaadhaan deemu.
By day they meet darkness, And as night—they grope at noon.
15 Inni nama rakkataa goraadee afaan isaanii jalaa, harka nama jabaa jalaas ni baasa.
He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth, And from a strong hand,
16 Kanaafuu hiyyeessi abdii qaba; jalʼinnis afaan isaa ni cufata.
And there is hope for the poor, And perverseness has shut her mouth.
17 “Namni Waaqni adabu eebbifamaa dha; kanaafuu ati adabbii Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu hin tuffatin.
Behold, the blessedness of mortal man, God reproves him: And do not despise the discipline of the Mighty,
18 Inni ni madeessa; ni fayyisas; inni ni cabsa; harka isaatiinis deebisee ni fayyisa.
For He pains, and He binds up, He strikes, and His hands heal.
19 Balaa jaʼa jalaa si baasa; torba keessattis hin miidhamtu.
In six distresses He delivers you, And in seven evil does not strike on you.
20 Bara beelaa duʼa jalaa, lola keessattis rukuttaa goraadee jalaa si baasa.
In famine He has redeemed you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword.
21 Ati garaffii arrabaa jalaa ni dhokfamta; yommuu badiisni dhufuttis hin sodaattu.
When the tongue scourges you are hid, And you are not afraid of destruction, When it comes.
22 Badiisaa fi beelatti ni kolfita; bineensota lafaas hin sodaattu.
At destruction and at hunger you mock, And of the beast of the earth, You are not afraid.
23 Dhagoota bakkee wajjin kakuu galta; bineensonni bosonaas nagaadhaan si wajjin jiraatu.
(For with sons of the field [is] your covenant, And the beast of the field Has been at peace with you.)
24 Dunkaanni kee nagaan akka jiru ni beekta; qabeenya kee ni toʼatta; wanni tokko illee si jalaa hin badu.
And you have known that your tent [is] peace, And inspected your habitation, and do not err,
25 Ijoolleen kee akka baayʼatan, sanyiiwwan kees akkuma marga lafaa akka taʼan ni beekta.
And have known that your seed [is] numerous, And your offspring as the herb of the earth;
26 Akkuma bissiin midhaanii yeroo isaatti walitti qabamu sana, atis bara dheeraa jiraattee awwaala seenta.
You come in full age to the grave, As the going up of a stalk in its season.
27 “Nu waan kana qoranneerra; innis dhugaa dha. Kanaafuu qalbeeffadhu; ofii keetiifis beeki.”
Behold, this—we searched it out—it [is] right, listen; And you, know for yourself!”
