< Iyyoob 40 >

1 Waaqayyos Iyyoobiin akkana jedhe:
And the Lord God answered Job, and said,
2 “Namni Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼuun falmu tokko isa ni qajeelchaa? Namni Waaqa himatu deebii haa kennuuf!”
Will [any one] pervert judgement with the Mighty One? and he that reproves God, let him return it for answer.
3 Iyyoobis akkana jedhee Waaqayyoof deebise:
And Job answered and said to the Lord,
4 “Ani nama faayidaa hin qabnee dha; akkamittin deebii siif kenna? Harka koo afaan koo irra nan kaaʼadha.
Why do I yet plead? being rebuked even while reproving the Lord: hearing such things, whereas I am nothing: and what shall I answer to these [arguments]? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.
5 Ani yeroo tokko dubbadheera; garuu ani waanan deebisu hin qabu; siʼa lama dubbadheera; kana caalaa garuu homaa hin jedhu.”
I have spoken once; but I will not do so a second time.
6 Kana irratti Waaqayyo bubbee jabaa keessaa Iyyoobitti dubbate:
And the Lord yet again answered and spoke to Job out of the cloud, [saying],
7 “Akka dhiiraatti mudhii kee hidhadhu; ani sin gaafadha; ati immoo deebii naa kennita.
Nay, gird up now your loins like a man; and I will ask you, and do you answer me.
8 “Ati murtii koo qajeelaa sana gatii dhabsiistaa? Ofii keetii qajeelaa taʼuuf na himattaa?
Do not set aside my judgement: and do you think that I have dealt with you in any other way, than that you might appear to be righteous?
9 Irree akka irree Waaqaa qabdaa? Sagaleen kees akka sagalee isaa qaqawweessaʼuu dandaʼaa?
Hast you an arm like the Lord's? or do you thunder with a voice like his?
10 Ulfinaa fi guddinaan of miidhagsi; kabajaa fi barreedina uffadhu.
Assume now a lofty bearing and power; and clothe yourself with glory and honour.
11 Dheekkamsa kee kan guutee irra yaaʼu sana dhangalaasi; nama of tuulu kam iyyuu ilaalii qaanessi.
And send forth messengers with wrath; and lay low every haughty one.
12 Nama of tuulu hunda ilaalii gad deebisi; hamoota illee iddoodhuma isaan dhaabatanitti caccabsi.
Bring down also the proud man; and consume at once the ungodly.
13 Isaan hunda walitti qabii biyyoo keessatti awwaali; fuula isaaniis awwaala keessa dhoksi.
And hide them together in the earth; and fill their faces with shame.
14 Yoos ani mataan koo, akka harki kee mirgaa si oolchuu dandaʼu siifin mirkaneessa.
[Then] will I confess that your right hand can save [you].
15 “Bihemootin ani akkuman si uumettin uume, kan akkuma qotiyyoo marga dheedu sana mee ilaali.
But now look at the wild beasts with you; they eat grass like oxen.
16 Jabinni isaa dugda isaa keessa, humni isaa immoo ribuu garaa isaa keessa jira!
Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 Eegeen isaa akkuma muka birbirsaa raafama; ribuun tafa isaa wal keessa xaxamaa dha.
He sets up his tail like a cypress; and his nerves are wrapped together.
18 Lafeen isaa akka ujummoo naasii ti; harkii fi miilli isaa immoo akka ulee sibiilaa ti.
His sides are sides of brass; and his backbone is [as] cast iron.
19 Inni uumamawwan Waaqaa keessaa hangafa; garuu inni isa uume goraadee isaatiin isatti dhiʼaachuu dandaʼa.
This is the chief of the creation of the Lord; made to be played with by his angels.
20 Gaarran marga ni kennuuf; bineensonni hundi naannoo isaa ni burraaqu.
And when he has gone up to a steep mountain, he causes joy to the quadrupeds in the deep.
21 Inni huuxxii qoraattii qabu jala ciisa; shambaqqoo lafa dhaqdhaqii keessa dhokata.
He lies under trees of every kind, by the papyrus, and reed, and bulrush.
22 Gaaddisni huuxxii qoraattii qabuu isa haguuga; alaltuun lagaas isa marsa.
And the great trees make a shadow over him with their branches, and [so do] the bushes of the field.
23 Yommuu lagni cabsee yaaʼutti iyyuu kunoo, inni hin rifatu. Lagni Yordaanos afaan isaa irra garagalu iyyuu inni hin shishu.
If there should be a flood, he will not perceive it; he trust that Jordan will rush up into his mouth.
24 Namni utuma inni arguu isa qabuu yookaan kiyyoodhaan isa qabee funyaan isaa uruu dandaʼu tokko iyyuu jiraa?
[Yet one] shall take him in his sight; [one] shall catch [him] with a cord, and pierce his nose.
