1 Eliihuunis itti fufee akkana jedhe:
Moreover Elihu, responded and said: —
2 “Ati waan kana qajeelaa seetaa? Ati, ‘Ani fuula Waaqaa duratti qajeelaa dha’ jetta.
This, dost thou think to be right? Thou hast said—My righteousness is more than GOD’S.
3 Ati, ‘Wanni kun faayidaa maalii naa qaba? Ani cubbuu hojjechuu dhiisuudhaan maalin argadha?’ jettee gaafatta.
For thou dost say, How can one profit by thee? How can I benefit, more than by my sin?
4 “Ani siʼii fi michoota kee kanneen si wajjin jiraniif deebii kennuu nan barbaada.
I, will answer thee plainly, and thy friends with thee.
5 Ol jedhiitii samiiwwan ilaali; duumessoota siin ol jiranis argi.
Look at the heavens and see, —and survey the skies—they are higher than thou.
6 Ati yoo cubbuu hojjette maal isa miita? Cubbuun kees yoo baayʼate maal isa godha?
If thou sinnest, what canst thou work against him? Or, if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?
7 Ati yoo qajeelaa taate, maal isaaf kennita? Yookaan inni harka kee irraa maal argata?
If thou art righteous, what canst thou give unto him? Or what, at thy hand, can he accept?
8 Hamminni kee nama akka keetii qofa miidha; qajeelummaan kees ilmaan namaa qofa fayyada.
Unto a man like thyself, might thy lawlessness [reach], and, unto a son of the earth-born, thy righteousness.
9 “Waan cunqursaan itti hammaatteef namoonni ni iyyu; irree humna qabeessaa jalaa baʼuufis gargaarsaaf wawwaatu.
By reason of the multitude of oppressions, [men] make outcry, They cry for help, by reason of the arm of the mighty;
10 Garuu namni tokko iyyuu akkana hin jedhu; ‘Waaqni Uumaan koo, inni halkaniin faarfannaa namaa kennu,
But none saith—Where is GOD my maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
11 kan bineensota lafa irraa caalaa beektota, simbirroo samii caalaas ogeeyyii nu godhu eessa jira?’
Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and, beyond the bird of the heavens, giveth us wisdom?
12 Inni sababii of tuulummaa jalʼootaatiif yommuu namoonni iyyanitti deebii hin kennu.
There, [men] make outcry, and he answereth not, because of the arrogance of evil-doers.
13 Dhugumaan Waaqni iyya isaanii kan gatii hin qabne sana hin dhaggeeffatu; Waaqni Waan Hunda Dandaʼu iyya sanaaf gurra hin kennu.
Howbeit, vanity, will GOD not hear, Yea, the Almighty, will not regard it.
14 Yoo ati, ‘Dubbiin koo fuula isaa dura jira; ani isa eeggachaan jira; garuu isa arguu hin dandaʼu’ jette, inni hammam kanaa gad iyyuu xinneessee haa dhagaʼu ree!
How much less when thou sayest thou wilt not regard him! The cause, is before him, and thou must wait for him.
15 Amma illee sababii dheekkamsi isaa nama hin adabneef, sababii inni balleessaa namaa akka waan guddaa tokkootti hin fudhanneef,
But, now, because it is not so, [thou sayest] —His anger hath punished, and yet hath he not at all known of transgression;
16 Iyyoob oduu faayidaa hin qabneen afaan bana; beekumsa malees dubbii baayʼisa.”
Thus, Job, vainly openeth his mouth, Without knowledge, he multiplieth words.
