< Iyyoob 24 >
1 “Waaqni Waan Hunda Dandaʼu sun maaliif yeroo murtii hin murteessine? Warri isa beekan maaliif akkasumaan guyyoota isaa hin argine?
Why doesn't the Almighty set a definite time to punish the wicked? Why don't those who follow him never see him act in judgment?
2 Namoonni dhagaa daarii ni dhiibu; bushaayee hataniis ni bobbaasu.
The wicked move boundary stones; they seize other people's flocks and move them to their own pastures.
3 Isaan harree ijoollee abbaa hin qabnee ooffatanii deemu; sangaa haadha hiyyeessaa qabdii fudhatu.
They steal the orphan's donkey; they take the widow's ox as security for a debt.
4 Rakkataa karaa irraa balleessu; hiyyeeyyiin biyyaa hundis isaan jalaa dhokatu.
They push the poor out of their way; the destitute are forced to hide from them.
5 Hiyyeeyyiin akkuma harree diidaa kan gammoojjii keessaa nyaata barbaacha asii fi achi jooru; gammoojjii sana keessaas ijoollee isaaniitiif nyaata kenna.
Like wild donkeys in the desert, the poor have to scavenge for their food, looking for anything to feed their children in the wasteland.
6 Isaan dirree irratti okaa walitti qabatu; iddoo dhaabaa wayinii nama hamaa irraas qarmii funaannatu.
They are forced to find what they can in other people's fields, to glean among the vineyards of the wicked.
7 Uffata dhabanii halkan qullaa bulu; waan dhaamocha keessatti uffatan tokko illee hin qaban.
They spend the night naked because they have no clothes; they have nothing to cover themselves against the cold.
8 Isaan bokkaa tulluutiin tortoraniiru; waan itti daʼatan illee dhabanii kattaa hammatu.
They are soaked by the cold mountain storms, and huddle beside the rocks for shelter.
9 Mucaan abbaa hin qabne harma irraa butameera; daaʼimni hiyyeessaa qabdii kennameera.
Fatherless children are snatched from their mother's breasts, taking the babies of the poor as security for a debt.
10 Isaan uffata dhabanii qullaa deemu; bissii baatu; garuu ni beelaʼu.
Because they have no clothes to wear they have to go naked, harvesting sheaves of grain while they themselves are hungry.
11 Isaan dhagaa gidduutti zayitii ejersaa baasu; wayinii cuunfu; garuu ni dheebotu.
In the olive groves they work to produce oil, but do not taste it; they tread the winepress, but are thirsty.
12 Aaduun warra duʼuutti jiranii magaalaa keessaa ni dhagaʼama; lubbuun warra madaaʼaniis gargaarsa barbaacha iyyiti. Waaqni garuu balleessaa tokko iyyuu isaanitti hin lakkaaʼu.
In the city the dying groan, and the wounded cry for help, but God ignores their prayers.
13 “Warri ifatti fincilan kanneen daandii isaa hin beekne yookaan daandii ifaa irra hin jiraanne jiru.
These are people who rebel against the light. They do not want to know its ways, or to stay on its paths.
14 Yommuu aduun dhiitu, namni nama ajjeesu ni kaʼa; innis hiyyeeyyii fi rakkattoota ni ajjeesa; halkan immoo akkuma hattuu taʼa.
The murderer gets up at dawn to kill the poor and needy, and when night falls he becomes a thief.
15 Iji ejjaan dimimmisa eeggata; innis, ‘Iji na argu hin jirtu’ jedha; fuula isaas ni dhokfata.
The adulterer waits for dusk, saying to himself, ‘No one will see me now,’ and he covers his face.
16 Namoonni dukkana keessa mana cabsanii seenu; guyyaa garuu ofitti cufanii oolu; isaan ifa hin beekan.
Thieves break into houses during the night and they sleep during the day. They don't even know what the light is like!
17 Hunda isaaniitiif, dukkanni guddaan barii isaanii ti; isaan sodaa dukkana guddaatti michoomu.
Total darkness is like light to them, for they are familiar with the night.
18 “Taʼus isaan hoomacha bishaan gubbaa ti; akka namni tokko iyyuu gara iddoo dhaabaa wayinii hin dhaqneef, qoodni lafa isaanii abaarameera.
Like bubbles on the surface of a river they are quickly carried away. The land they own is cursed by God. They don't enter their own vineyards.
19 Akkuma hoʼii fi hoongeen cabbii baqee xuuxee fixu, awwaalli namoota cubbuu hojjetan ni butata. (Sheol )
Just as heat and drought dry up snowmelt, so Sheol takes away those who have sinned. (Sheol )
20 Gadameessi isaan irraanfata; raammoonnis itti duuddee isaan nyaatti; namoonni hamoon akkuma mukaa ni caccabu; siʼachis hin yaadataman.
Even their mothers forget them, maggots feast on them, they are no longer remembered, and their wickedness becomes like a tree that is broken into pieces.
21 Isaan dubartii dhabduu ni saamu; haadha hiyyeessaatiif illee garaa hin laafan.
They mistreat childless women and are mean to widows.
22 Waaqni garuu humna isaatiin jajjaboota alatti harkisa; isaan ol kaʼu; garuu wabii jireenyaa hin qaban.
God prolongs the life of the wicked by his power; but when they arise, they have no assurance of life.
23 Inni akka isaan waan nagaan jiraatan seʼaniif ittuma dhiisuu dandaʼa; iji isaa garuu karaa isaanii ni toʼata.
He supports them and gives them security, but he is always watching what they're doing.
24 Isaan yeroo xinnoof mataa ol qabatu; ergasii immoo ni badu; gad deebifamaniis akkuma warra kaanii walitti qabamu; akkuma mataa midhaaniis ni muramu.
Though they may be illustrious for a while, soon they are gone. They are brought down like all others, cut off like the heads of grain.
25 “Yoo kun akkas taʼuu baate eenyutu sobduu na godhee dubbii koo busheessa?”
If this isn't so, who can prove I'm a liar and there's nothing to what I say?”
