< Iyyoob 21 >
1 Iyyoob akkana jedhee deebise:
Then answered Job, and said,
2 “Dubbii koo qalbeeffadhaa dhaggeeffadhaa; kun waan isin ittiin na jajjabeessitan haa taʼu.
Hear, O hear my speech, and let this be wherewith you give consolations.
3 Yeroo ani dubbadhu naa obsaa; erga ani dubbadhee booddee isin natti qoosuu dandeessu.
Bear with me that I may indeed speak: and after my speaking, then canst thou mock.
4 “Dhugumaan kan ani komadhu namaa? Ani maaliif obsa hin dhabne ree?
As for me, —is against man my complaint? and if this be so, why should my spirit not be impatient?
5 Na ilaalaatii dinqisiifadhaa; harka keessanis afaan keessan irra kaaʼadhaa.
Turn yourselves unto me, and be astounded, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 Ani yommuu waan kana yaadu nan sodaadha; hollannaanis na qabata.
Yea, when I think of it, I am terrified, and shuddering seizeth hold of my flesh.
7 Hamoonni maaliif itti fufanii lubbuun jiraatu? Maaliif dulloomanii humnas argachaa deemu?
Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, grow strong in power?
8 Ijoolleen isaanii naannoo isaaniitti, sanyiin isaaniis fuula isaanii duratti jabaatanii dhaabatu.
Their seed is firmly established in their presence with them. their offspring are before their eyes.
9 Manni isaanii nagaa dha; waan sodaatu illee hin qabu; uleen Waaqaas isaan hin tuqxu.
Their houses are at peace without any dread, and no rod of God [cometh] over them.
10 Kormi isaanii dhalchuu hin dadhabu; saawwan isaanii ni dhalu; hin gatatanis.
The bull of each one gendereth, and disappointeth not: the cow of each one calveth, and casteth not her young.
11 Isaan ijoollee isaanii akkuma bushaayeetti bobbaasu; daaʼimman isaanii immoo ni burraaqu.
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children skip about [with joy].
12 Dibbee fi kiraaraan sirbu; sagalee ululleetiinis ni gammadu.
They sing to the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
13 Isaan bara isaanii badhaadhummaadhaan fixatu; nagaadhaanis ni awwaalamu. (Sheol )
They wear out their days in happiness, and in a moment they go down to the nether world. (Sheol )
14 Taʼu illee isaan Waaqaan akkana jedhu; ‘Nu dhiisi! Nu karaa kee beekuuf fedhii hin qabnu.
And yet they say unto God, “Depart from us; and the knowledge of thy ways we desire not.
15 Akka nu isa tajaajilluuf Waaqni waan Hunda Dandaʼu eenyu? Nu isa kadhannee maal arganna?’
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit shall we have, if we entreat him urgently?”
16 Badhaadhummaan isaanii garuu isaan harka hin jiru; kanaafuu ani gorsa hamootaa irraa nan fagaadha.
Lo, not in their hand doth their happiness rest! The counsel of the wicked be [still] far from me.
17 “Garuu ibsaan hamootaa yoom iyyuu ni dhaamaa? Balaan yoom iyyuu isaanitti dhufaa? Waaqnis dheekkamsa isaatiin badiisa isaanitti fidaa?
How often is the lamp of the wicked quenched? and how often cometh over them their calamity? and doth [God] distribute their lot in his anger?
18 Isaan akkuma cidii fuula qilleensaa duraa ti; akkuma habaqii bubbeen hamaan fudhatee deemuu ti.
Are they as straw before the wind, and as chaff which the stealeth away?
19 Isin, ‘Waaqni balleessaa nama tokkoo ilmaan isaatiif kuusa’ jettu. Akka inni waan kana beekuuf Waaqni namichuma mataa isaatiif gatii isaa haa kennu!
Should God lay up for his children his wrong-doing? it were better that he reward him, that he might know it himself.
20 Iji isaa badiisa isaa haa argu; inni xoofoo dheekkamsa Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼuu haa dhugu.
His own eyes ought to see his downfall, and from the wrath of the Almighty ought he to drink.
21 Inni yeroo jiʼi isaaf qoodame dhumutti, waaʼee maatii isaa kan dhiisee biraa deemu sanaa dhimma maalii qabaata?
For what care hath he for his household after him, when the number of his months is all apportioned to him?
22 “Namni tokko iyyuu Waaqa beekumsa barsiisuu dandaʼaa? Waaqni ol aantotatti iyyuu ni muraatii.
Is this fitting God, who teacheth knowledge? him who judgeth those that are highest?
23 Namni tokko utuma itti tolee nagaan jiraatuu, utuma humna guutuu qabuu,
That this one dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;
24 utuma dhagni isaa gabbatee jiruu, utuma lafeen isaa dhukaan guutamee jiruu ni duʼa.
His vessels being full of healthy fluid, and the marrow of his bones being well moistened:
25 Namni biraa immoo utuu gammachuu tokko illee hin argin, jireenya hadhaaʼaa jiraachaa duʼa.
While this other dieth with an embittered soul, and hath never partaken of any happiness;
26 Isaan biyyoo keessa wal bira ciciisu; lachan isaaniittuu raammoon ni tuutaʼa.
[And yet] together they must lie down in the dust, and the worms will cover them?
27 “Ani yaada keessanii fi mala isin ittiin na miidhuu barbaaddan nan beeka.
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the opinions which ye wrongfully devise against me.
28 Isin, ‘Manni namicha guddaa, dunkaanni namoonni hamoon keessa jiraatan amma eessa jira?’ jettu.
For ye say, Where is the house of the noble-minded? and where is the tent of the dwelling-places of the wicked?
29 Isin namoota karaa deeman hin gaafannee? Waan isaan jedhanis hin qalbeeffannee?
Have ye not asked the wayfarers? surely their token ye cannot disregard,
30 Akka namni hamaan guyyaa balaa oolfamu, akka inni guyyaa dheekkamsaa illee baraaramu hin qalbeeffannee?
That the bad man is reserved for the day of calamity, [that the wicked] are carried forward to the day of wrath.
31 Namni fuuluma isaa dura dhaabatee hojii isaa itti himu eenyu? Namni gatii waan inni hojjetee baasuuf eenyu?
[But] who will tell him to his face of his way? and who will repay him what he hath done?
32 Inni gara awwaalaatti geeffama; awwaalli isaas ni eegama.
Yea he will indeed be carried to the grave, and men will quickly think of his monument:
33 Biyyoon sulula keessaa isatti miʼaawa; namoonni hundi isa duukaa buʼu; namoonni akka malee baayʼeenis fuula isaa dura deemu.
Sweet are to him the clods of the valley; and after him succeedeth every man, as those that were before him are without number.
34 “Yoos isin akkamiin waan faayidaa hin qabneen na jajjabeessuu dandeessu ree? Deebiin keessanis soba qofa!”
How then will ye comfort me with vanity? and of your answers there remaineth only deception.
