1 Hafuurri koo dadhabeera; barri koo gabaabbateera; awwaallis naa qopheeffameera.
My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves [are ready] for me.
2 Dhugumaan qoostonni na marsaniiru; iji koos hojii isaanii isa hamaa sana hubatee ilaala.
[Are there] not mockers with me? and doth not my eye continue in their provocation?
3 “Yaa Waaqi, qabsiisa naa taʼi; si malee eenyutu wabii naa taʼa?
Lay down now, put me in a surety with thee; who [is] he [that] will strike hands with me?
4 Akka isaan waa hin hubanneef ati sammuu isaanii cufteerta; kanaafuu ati akka isaan moʼatan hin gootu.
For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: therefore shalt thou not exalt [them].
5 Yoo namni tokko faayidaa argachuuf michuu isaa maqaa balleesse, iji ijoollee isaa ni jaama.
He that speaketh flattery to [his] friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail.
6 “Waaqni nama hunda biratti nama kolfaa, nama namni fuula isaatti tufu na godheera.
He hath made me also a by-word of the people; and in former time I was as a tabret.
7 Iji koo sababii gaddaatiif arguu dhabe; dhagni koo guutuunis akkuma gaaddidduu ti.
My eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, and all my members [are] as a shade.
8 Qajeeltonni waan kanaan ni rifatu; namni balleessaa hin qabnes warra Waaqatti hin bulle irratti kaʼa.
Upright [men] shall be astonished at this, and the innocent shall stir up himself against the hypocrite.
9 Qajeelaan garuu karaa isaatti cima; warri harki isaanii qulqulluu taʼes jabaachaa deemu.
The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
10 “Hundi keessan garuu mee deebiʼaa yaalaa! Ani isin keessaa nama ogeessa tokko illee hin argadhu.
But as for you all, do ye return, and come now: for I cannot find [one] wise [man] among you.
11 Barri koo darbeera; karoorri koo fashalaaʼeera; hawwiin garaa koos akkasuma taʼeera.
My days are past, my purposes are broken off, [even] the thoughts of my heart.
12 Namoonni kunneen halkan guyyaatti geeddaraniiru; utuma dukkana arganuus, ‘Ifni dhiʼaateera’ jedhu.
They change the night into day: the light [is] short because of darkness.
13 Yoo manni ani abdadhu awwaala qofa taʼe, yoo ani dukkana keessatti siree koo afadhe, (Sheol h7585)
If I wait, the grave [is] my house: I have made my bed in the darkness. (Sheol h7585)
14 yoo ani boolla qileetiin, ‘Ati abbaa koo ti;’ raammoodhaan immoo, ‘Ati haadha koo ti;’ yookaan ‘Obboleettii koo ti’ jedhe,
I have said to corruption, Thou [art] my father: to the worm, [Thou art] my mother, and my sister.
15 egaa abdiin koo eessa jira? Eenyutus abdii tokko illee naa arga?
And where [is] now my hope? as for my hope, who will see it?
16 Inni na wajjin awwaala buʼaa? Nus walumaan biyyoo seennaa?” (Sheol h7585)
They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when [our] rest together [is] in the dust. (Sheol h7585)
