Ermiyaas 24
1 Erga Nebukadnezar mootichi Baabilon Yehooyaakiin mooticha Yihuudaa ilma Yehooyaaqiimii fi qondaaltota Yihuudaa, ogeeyyii hojii harkaatii fi tumtuuwwan Yihuudaa boojiʼee Yerusaalemii gara Baabilonitti geessee booddee Waaqayyo ija harbuu guuboo lama fuula mana qulqullummaa Waaqayyoo duratti na argisiise.
Yahweh shewed me, and lo! two baskets of figs, which had been set before the temple of Yahweh, —after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive, Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the princes of Judah and the carpenters and the smiths out of Jerusalem, and had brought them into Babylon: —
2 Guuboon tokko ija harbuu akka malee gaarii kan ijaa duraan bilchaate fakkaatu qaba ture; guuboon kaan immoo ija harbuu akka malee tortoree, sababii tortoruu isaatiif nyaatamuu hin dandeenye qaba ture.
the one basket, was of very good figs, like the first-ripe figs; and, the other basket, was of very bad figs, which could not be eaten for badness.
3 Waaqayyos, “Yaa Ermiyaas, ati maal argita?” naan jedhe. Anis, “Ija harbuu nan arga; ija gaariin akka malee gaarii dha; inni tortoraan immoo sababii akka malee tortoreef nyaatamuu hin dandaʼu” jedheen deebise.
Then said Yahweh unto me, —What canst thou see, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs: the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, for badness.
4 Ergasii dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee gara koo dhufe:
Then came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:
5 “Waaqayyo Waaqni Israaʼel akkana jedha; ‘Ani boojiʼamtoota Yihuudaa warra ani iddoo kanaa baasee biyya Baabilonotaatti erge sana akkuma ija gaarii kanaatti ija gaariin nan ilaala.
Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Like these good figs, so, will I regard them of Judah who are carried into captivity, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.
6 Ani faayidaa isaaniitiif ija koo isaan irra buufadhee biyya kanatti deebisee isaan nan fida; ani isaanan ijaara malee isaan hin diigu; ani isaanan dhaaba malee isaan hin buqqisu.
Therefore will I set mine eye upon them for good, and will bring them back upon this land, —and will build them up, and not pull them down, and will plant them and not root them up;
7 Ani akka isaan akka ani Waaqayyo isaanii taʼe beekaniif qalbii nan kennaaf. Isaan saba koo taʼu; anis Waaqa isaanii nan taʼa; isaan garaa guutuudhaan gara kootti ni deebiʼuutii.
and will give them a heart to know, me, that, I, am Yahweh, So shall they become my people, And, I, will become their God; for they will return unto me with all their heart.
8 “‘Waaqayyo akkana jedha; ani garuu Zedeqiyaa mooticha Yihuudaa, qondaaltota isaatii fi hambaawwan Yerusaalem kanneen biyya kana keessatti hafanii fi warra Gibxi keessa jiraatan akkuma ija harbuu kan waan akka malee tortoreef namni nyaachuu hin dandeenye sanaatti nan dhiisa.
And like the bad figs, which cannot be eaten for badness, Surely thus, saith Yahweh—so, will I deliver up Zedekiah king of Judah, and his princes and the remnant of Jerusalem that remain in this land, and them who are dwelling in the land of Egypt;
9 Ani fuula mootummoota lafaa hundaa duratti balfamoo fi jibbamoo isaan nan godha; iddoo ani itti isaan bittinneessu hundattis tuffatamoo, waan kolfaa, waan qoosaatii fi waan abaarsaa isaan nan godha.
yea I will deliver them up, as a terror of calamity, to all the kingdoms of the earth, —as a reproach and as a byword, as a mockery and as a contempt, in every place whither I will drive them;
10 Ani hamma isaan biyya ani isaanii fi abbootii isaaniitiif kenne irraa barbadaaʼanitti goraadee, beelaa fi dhaʼicha isaanitti nan erga.’”
and I will send among them, sword famine and pestilence, —until they are consumed from off the soil which I gave to them and to their fathers.
