1 Yaaqoob garbicha Waaqaatii fi kan Yesuus Kiristoos Gooftichaa irraa, Gara gosoota kudha lamaan bibittinnaaʼaniitti: Nagaan isiniif haa taʼu.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 Yaa obboloota ko, yommuu qorumsi adda addaa isin irra gaʼutti akka gammachuu guutuutti fudhadhaa;
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.
3 amantiin keessan qoramuun isaa akka obsa isiniif argamsiisu beektuutii.
Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 Akka isin bilchaatoo fi guutuu, warra hirʼina tokko iyyuu hin qabne taataniif obsi hojii isaa haa raawwatu.
But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 Isin keessaa namni tokko iyyuu hanqina ogummaa yoo qabaate, Waaqa utuu hin tuffatin nama hundumaaf arjummaan kennu haa kadhatu; isaafis ni kennama.
If any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him.
6 Inni garuu yommuu kadhatu amantiin haa kadhatu; hin shakkinis; namni shakku akka dambalii galaanaa kan bubbeen dhaʼamee oofamuu ti.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 Namni sun waan tokko illee Gooftaa biraa nan argadha jedhee hin eeggatin;
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing from the Lord.
8 inni nama yaada lamaa ti; iddoo tokkos hin dhaabatu.
A man unsettled in his opinions [is] unstable in all his ways.
9 Obboleessi gad qabame ol qabamuu isaatiin of haa jaju.
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10 Sooressi garuu gad qabamuu isaatti of haa jaju; inni akkuma daraaraa margaa ni harcaʼaatii.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11 Aduun hoʼa gubuun baatee marga gogsitiitii; daraaraan biqiltuu sanaas ni harcaʼa; miidhaginni isaas ni bada. Sooressis utuma hojii isaatiif olii gad fiiguu bada.
For the sun hath no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and its flower falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12 Namni qorumsa obsu eebbifamaa dha; inni yommuu qorametti jabaatee waan dhaabateef gonfoo jireenyaa kan Waaqni warra isa jaallataniif waadaa gale sana ni argataatii.
Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Namni kam iyyuu yommuu qoramutti, “Waaqatu na qoraa jira” hin jedhin. Waaqni hamaadhaan hin qoramuutii; innis nama tokko illee hin qoru;
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted by God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 tokkoon tokkoon namaa garuu yommuu hawwii ofii isaa hamaa sanaan harkifamee gowwoomfamutti qorama.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.
15 Hawwiinis yommuu ulfooftetti cubbuu dhalti; cubbuun immoo yommuu guutumaan guutuutti guddattetti duʼa dhalti.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Yaa obboloota koo jaallatamoo, hin dogoggorinaa.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Kennaan gaariin hundinuu, kennaan mudaa hin qabne hundinuus Abbaa ifaa isa akka gaaddidduu hin geeddaramne sana biraa gubbaadhaa gad buʼa.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Innis akka nu uumama isaa hundumaaf gosa hangafa taanuuf akkuma fedhii isaatti dubbii dhugaatiin nu dhalche.
Of his own will he hath begotten us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
19 Yaa obboloota koo jaallatamoo, waan kana hubadhaa: Namni hundinuu dhagaʼuutti haa ariifatu; dubbachuuf suuta haa jedhu; aaruuttis suuta haa jedhu;
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 aariin namaa qajeelummaa Waaqaa hin hojjetuutii.
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Kanaaf xuraaʼummaa hundaa fi hammina isin keessa jiraatu hunda of irraa fageessaa; dubbii lubbuu keessan fayyisuu dandaʼu kan isin keessatti facaafame sana garraamummaan fudhadhaa.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 Isin garuu warra dubbicha hojii irra oolchitan taʼaa malee warra dhagaʼuu qofaan of gowwoomsitan hin taʼinaa.
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 Namni dubbicha dhagaʼee hojii irra hin oolchine kam iyyuu nama of-ilaalee keessatti fuula isaa ilaallatu fakkaata;
For if any is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 innis erga of ilaalee booddee ni deema; yommusuma maal akka fakkaatu ni irraanfata.
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and immediately forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 Garuu namni seera bilisaa kan hirʼina hin qabne sana hubatee ilaalu, kan akka seera sanaattis jiraatu, kan waan dhagaʼes hojii irra oolchuu malee hin irraanfanne sun waan hojjetu keessatti ni eebbifama.
But he who looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [in it], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
26 Namni waan amantaa qabu of seʼu, kan garuu arraba isaa hin luugamanne yoo jiraate inni of gowwoomsa; amantaan isaas faayidaa hin qabu.
If any man among you seemeth to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain.
27 Amantaan Waaqa Abbaa keenya duratti qulqulluu taʼee fi kan mudaa hin qabne isa kana: kunis ijoollee abbaa fi haadha hin qabnee fi haadhota hiyyeessaa rakkina isaanii keessatti kunuunsuu fi xuraaʼummaa addunyaa irraa of eeggachuu dha.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.
