< Isaayyaas 1 >
1 Mulʼata Isaayyaas ilmi Amoos bara bulchiinsa Uziyaan, bara Yootaam, bara Aahaazii fi bara Hisqiyaas keessa waaʼee Yihuudaatii fi Yerusaalem arge.
The vision of Isaiah [Salvation of Yah] the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah [Praised] and Jerusalem [City of peace], in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah [Praised].
2 Yaa Samiiwwan dhagaʼaa! Yaa lafa dhaggeeffadhu! Waaqayyo akkana jedhee dubbateeraatii: “Ani ijoollee horadheen guddifadhe; isaan garuu natti fincilaniiru.
Sh'ma ·Hear obey·, heavens, and listen, earth; for Adonai has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 Qotiyyoon gooftaa isaa, harreenis gola gooftaa isaa ni beeka; Israaʼel garuu hin beeku; sabni koo hin hubatu.”
The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel [God prevails] does not know, my people don’t consider.”
4 Yaa saba cubbamaa, uummata balleessaan itti baayʼate, ilmaan warra waan hamaa hojjetuu, ijoollee xuraaʼummaadhaan guutamte isiniif wayyoo! Isaan Waaqayyoon dhiisaniiru; Qulqullicha Israaʼel sana tuffatanii dugda isaanii itti garagalfataniiru.
Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Adonai. They have despised the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails]. They are estranged and backward.
5 Isin siʼachi maaliif rukutamtu? Maaliif fincila keessa jiraatu? Mataan keessan guutuun miidhameera; garaan keessan guutuunis dadhabeera.
Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 Faana miilla keessaniitii hamma gubbee mataa keessaniitti, fayyaa hin qabdan; madaa fi dirmammuun, madaan dhiigu, kan hin qulqulloofne yookaan hin maramne yookaan zayitiidhaan hin laafne.
From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, neither bandaged, neither soothed with oil.
7 Biyyi keessan duwwaa hafteerti; magaalaawwan keessan ibiddaan gubamaniiru; alagoonni fuuluma keessan duratti lafa qotiisaa keessan saamu; akkuma waan ormi ishee saameettis onti.
Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 Intalli Xiyoon akkuma daʼannoo iddoo dhaabaa wayinii keessaatti, akkuma daasii lafa qotiisa buqqee keessaatti, akkuma magaalaa marfame tokkootti dhiifamti.
The daughter of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.
9 Utuu Waaqayyoon Waan Hunda Dandaʼu hambaa muraasa nuuf hambisuu baatee, nu silaa akkuma Sodoom taanee, Gomoraas fakkaanna turre.
Unless Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies] had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom [Burning]; we would have been like Gomorrah [Rebellious people, Tyrants].
10 Yaa bulchitoota Sodoom dubbii Waaqayyoo dhagaʼaa; yaa saba Gomoraa, Seera Waaqa keenyaa dhaggeeffadhaa!
Sh'ma ·Hear obey· Adonai’s word, you rulers of Sodom [Burning]! Listen to the Torah ·Teaching· of our God, you people of Gomorrah [Rebellious people, Tyrants]!
11 Waaqayyo akkana jedha; “Baayʼinni aarsaa keessanii anaaf maali?” Ani aarsaa gubamu kan korbeeyyii hoolaatii fi horii gabbifamanii baayʼeen qaba; ani dhiiga korommii looniitti, kan xobbaallaawwan hoolaattii fi reʼeetti hin gammadu.
“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?,” says Adonai. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.
12 Isin yommuu fuula koo duratti mulʼachuuf dhuftan, akka oobdii koo dhidhiittan eenyutu isin irraa barbaade?
When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?
13 Kennaa faayidaa hin qabne fiduu dhiisaa! Ixaanni keessan na jibbisiisa. Ayyaana Baatii, Sanbataa fi yaaʼii keessan jechuunis wal gaʼii keessan hamaa sana ani hin fedhu.
Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can’t bear with evil assemblies.
14 Ayyaana Baatii keessanii fi ayyaanota keessan bebbeekamoo lubbuun koo ni jibbiti. Isaan baʼaa natti taʼaniiru; anis obsuu dadhabeera.
My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.
15 Yeroo isin kadhannaaf harka keessan balʼifattan, ani ija koo isinan dhokfadha; yoo isin kadhaa baayʼee kadhattan illee ani hin dhaggeeffadhu. Harki keessan dhiigaan guutameera!
When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not sh'ma ·hear obey·. Your hands are full of blood.
16 Dhiqadhaatii of qulqulleessaa. Hojii keessan hamaa sana fuula koo duraa balleessaa! Yakka hojjechuus dhiisaa;
Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.
17 waan qajeelaa hojjechuu baradhaa! Murtii qajeelaa barbaadaa; warra hacuucame jajjabeessaa. Ijoollee abbaa hin qabneef falmaa; haadha hiyyeessaatiif dhaabadhaa.
Learn to do well. Seek mishpat ·justice·. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the orphan. Plead for the widow.”
18 Waaqayyo akkana jedha; “Kottaa wal qorraa; cubbuun keessan yoo akka bildiimaa taʼe iyyuu, inni addaatee akka cabbii ni taʼa; yoo akka alalaa diimate iyyuu, akka suufii ni addaata.
“Come now, and let us reason together,” says Adonai: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 Isin yoo fedhii qabaattanii ajajamtan, waan lafti baaftu filatamaa ni nyaattu;
If you are willing and sh'ma ·hearing obedient·, you shall eat the good of the land;
20 garuu yoo diddanii finciltan goraadeetu isin nyaata.” Afaan Waaqayyoo waan kana dubbateeraatii.
but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Adonai has spoken it.”
21 Akka magaalaan amanamtuun sun sagaagaltuu taate ilaalaa! Isheen dur murtii qajeelaadhaan guutamtee qajeelummaan ishee keessa jiraata ture; amma immoo namoota nama ajjeesantu ishee keessa jiraata!
How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of mishpat ·justice·; righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.
22 Meetiin kee ligidaaʼeera; daadhiin wayinii kee filatamaan bishaaniin makameera.
Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water.
23 Bulchitoonni kee finciltoota; michuu hattuuwwanii ti; isaan hundinuu mattaʼaa jaallatu; kennaas akka malee barbaadu. Isaan ijoollee abbaa hin qabneef hin falman; himata haadha hiyyeessaa hin dhaggeeffatan.
Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone 'ahav ·affectionately loves· bribes, and follows after rewards. They don’t judge the orphan, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.
24 Kanaafuu Gooftaan, Waaqayyoon Waan Hunda Dandaʼu, Jabaan Israaʼel sun akkana jedha: “Ani amajaajota koo irraa boqonnaa nan argadha; diinota koos haaloo nan baafadha.
Therefore the Lord, Adonai Tzva'ot [Yahweh Commander of heaven’s armies], the Mighty One of Israel [God prevails], says: “Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself on my enemies;
25 Ani harka koo sitti nan deebisa; ligidaaʼummaa kees akka malutti sirraa nan haqa; xurii kee hundas sirraa nan balleessa.
and I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.
26 Ani akkuma bara durii abbootii murtii iddootti, akkuma jalqabaatti gorsitoota kee illee siifin deebisa. Ergasii ati magaalaa qajeelummaa, magaalaa amanamtuu jedhamtee ni waamamta.”
I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’
27 Xiyoon murtii qajeelaadhaan, qalbii jijjiirrattoonni ishee immoo qajeelummaadhaan furamu.
Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] shall be redeemed with mishpat ·justice·, and her converts with righteousness.
28 Finciltoonnii fi cubbamoonni garuu ni caccabu; warri Waaqayyoon dhiisanis ni badu.
But the destruction of transgressors and sinners shall be together, and those who forsake Adonai shall be consumed.
29 “Isin sababii muka qilxuu itti gammaddan sanaatiif ni qaanoftu; sababii iddoo biqiltuu filattan sanaatiif immoo ni salphattu.
For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be confounded for the gardens that you have chosen.
30 Isin akka qilxuu baalli irraa harcaʼee, akka iddoo biqiltuu bishaan hin qabnee ni taatu.
For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water.
31 Namni jabaan akkuma huubaa, hojiin isaas akkuma qaanqee taʼa; isaan lachuu walumaan gubatu; namni ibidda sana dhaamsus hin jiru.”
The strong will be like tinder, and his work like a spark. They will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”
