1 Yeroo Efreem dubbatetti namoonni ni hollatan; inni Israaʼel keessatti ol ol jedhee ture. Garuu yakka Baʼaalin waaqeffachuutiin duʼe.
When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel. But he incurred guilt through Baal, and he died.
2 Isaan ammas itti deddeebiʼanii cubbuu hojjetu; meetii ofii isaaniitiin waaqa tolfamaa tolfatu; fakkii mimmiidhagaa kanneen hundi isaanii harka ogeeyyiitiin hojjetaman. Waaʼee saba kanaas, “Isaan nama qalanii aarsaa dhiʼeessu; waaqa tolfamaa jabbiis ni dhungatu!” jedhame.
Now they sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves!”
3 Kanaafuu isaan akkuma hurrii ganamaa, akkuma fixeensa barii baduu, akkuma habaqii oobdii midhaan itti dhaʼan irraa kaʼuu akkuma aara foddaadhaan baʼuu ni taʼu.
Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes, like chaff blown from a threshing floor, like smoke through an open window.
4 “Ani garuu yeroo ati Gibxii baatee jalqabee Waaqayyo Waaqa kee ti. Ati ana malee Waaqa tokko illee beekuu hin qabdu; ana malee fayyisaa tokko illee hin qabdu.
Yet I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt; you know no God but Me, for there is no Savior besides Me.
5 Ani gammoojjii keessatti, biyya hoʼa gubaa keessatti si kunuunseera.
I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.
6 Yeroo ani isaan sooretti ni quufan; isaan yeroo quufanitti of tuulan; ergasii immoo na irraanfatan.
When they had pasture, they became satisfied; when they were satisfied, their hearts became proud, and as a result they forgot Me.
7 Kanaafuu ani akkuma leencaa isaanitti nan taʼa; akkuma qeerransaa riphee daandii irratti isaan nan eeggadha.
So like a lion I will pounce on them; like a leopard I will lurk by the path.
8 Ani akkuma amaaketa ilmaan ishee jalaa fudhatamaniitti isaan lolee garaa isaanii nan baqaqsa. Ani akkuma leencaatti qorqee isaan nan nyaadha; bineensi bosonaa gargar isaan ciccira.
Like a bear robbed of her cubs I will attack them, and I will tear open their chests. There I will devour them like a lion, like a wild beast would tear them apart.
9 “Yaa Israaʼel, waan ana gargaaraa kee mormiteef ati baddeerta.
You are destroyed, O Israel, because you are against Me— against your helper.
10 Akka si oolchuuf mootiin kee eessa jira? Bulchitoonni kee warri magaalaa kee hunda keessaa kanneen ati, ‘Mootii fi ilmaan moototaa naaf kenni’ jettee kadhatte sun eessa jiru?
Where is your king now to save you in all your cities, and the rulers to whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”?
11 Ani aarii kootiin mootii siifan kenne; dheekkamsa kootiin immoo isa sirraa nan fudhadhe.
So in My anger I gave you a king, and in My wrath I took him away.
12 Balleessaan Efreem walitti kuufamee cubbuun isaas galmeeffameera.
The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is stored up.
13 Miixuun akkuma dubartii ciniinsuun qabatteetti isatti dhufa; inni garuu daaʼima wallaalaa dha; inni yommuu yeroon gaʼutti, gadameessa keessaa baʼuu hin fedhu.
Labor pains come upon him, but he is an unwise son. When the time arrives, he fails to present himself at the opening of the womb.
14 “Ani saba kana humna awwaalaa jalaa nan baraara; duʼa jalaa isaan nan baasa. Yaa duʼa, dhaʼichi kee meerre? Yaa awwaala, balleessuun kee meerre? “Ani gara laafina tokko illee hin qabaadhu; (Sheol h7585)
I will ransom them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from Death. Where, O Death, are your plagues? Where, O Sheol, is your sting? Compassion is hidden from My eyes. (Sheol h7585)
15 Yoo inni obboloota ofii gidduu jireenya tolaa jiraate iyyuu, bubbeen baʼaa Waaqayyo biraa ni dhufa; lafa gammoojjii keessaa ni bubbisa; burqaan isaa bishaan dhaba; boolli bishaan isaas ni goga. Mankuusni isaa, qabeenyi inni qabu hundis ni saamama.
Although he flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come— a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His fountain will fail, and his spring will run dry. The wind will plunder his treasury of every precious article.
16 Sabni Samaariyaa waan Waaqa isaatti fincileef gatii balleessaa isaa ni argata. Isaan goraadeedhaan dhumu; daaʼimman isaanii lafatti harcaafamu; dubartoonni isaanii kanneen ulfa qabanis ni baqaqfamu.”
Samaria will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.
