< Ibroota 7 >
1 Malkiiseedeq mootii Saalemiitii fi luba Waaqa Waan Hundaa Olii ture. Innis utuu Abrahaam mootota moʼatee deebiʼuu itti dhufee isa eebbise;
For this man, Melchizedek, King of Salem and priest of the Most High God--he who when Abraham was returning after defeating the kings met him and pronounced a blessing on him--
2 Abrahaamis waan hundumaa kudhan keessaa tokko isaaf kenne. Jalqabatti maqaan isaa, “Mootii qajeelummaa” jechuu dha; ergasii immoo, “Mootii Saalem” jechuunis, “Mootii nagaa” jechuu dha.
to whom also Abraham presented a tenth part of all--being first, as his name signifies, King of righteousness, and secondly King of Salem, that is, King of peace:
3 Inni abbaa yookaan haadha hin qabu; hidda dhalootaas hin qabu; jalqaba guyyootaa yookaan dhuma jireenyaas hin qabu; inni akkuma Ilma Waaqaatti luba bara baraa taʼee jiraata.
with no father or mother, and no record of ancestry: having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made a type of the Son of God--this man Melchizedek remains a priest for ever.
4 Egaa Abrahaam hangafni abbootii iyyuu erga waan boojiʼe irraa kudhan keessaa tokko isaaf kennee, Malkiiseedeq hammam guddaa akka taʼe mee ilaalaa!
Now think how great this priest-king must have been to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth part of the best of the spoil.
5 Ilmaan Lewwii warri luboota taʼan yoo obboloonni isaanii sanyii Abrahaam taʼan iyyuu namoota irraa jechuunis obbolootuma isaanii irraa kudhan keessaa tokko akka fudhatan seerri ni ajaja.
And those of the descendants of Levi who receive the priesthood are authorized by the Law to take tithes from the people, that is, from their brethren, though these have sprung from Abraham.
6 Namichi sanyii isaanii irraa hin taʼin kun garuu Abrahaam isa waadaan galameef sana irraa kudhan keessaa tokko fudhatee isa eebbise.
But, in this instance, one who does not trace his origin from them takes tithes from Abraham, and pronounces a blessing on him to whom the promises belong.
7 Inni xinnaan akka isa guddaadhaan eebbifamu shakkii hin qabu.
And beyond all dispute it is always the inferior who is blessed by the superior.
8 Karaa tokkoon kudhan keessaa tokko namoota duʼa hin oolleen walitti qabama; karaa kaaniin immoo isa jiraataa taʼuun isaa dhugaa baʼameef sanaan walitti qabama.
Moreover here frail mortal men receive tithes: there one receives them about whom there is evidence that he is alive.
9 Lewwiin inni kudhan keessaa tokko walitti qabu mataan isaa iyyuu kudhan keessaa harka tokko karaa Abrahaamiitiin baaseera jechuun ni dandaʼama;
And Levi too--if I may so speak--pays tithes through Abraham:
10 Malkiiseedeq yommuu Abrahaamin simatetti Lewwiin mudhii abbaa ofii isaa keessa tureetii.
for Levi was yet in the loins of his forefather when Melchizedek met Abraham.
11 Utuu sirni lubummaa Lewwii kan hirʼina hin qabne taʼee, silaa lubni biraa kan akka sirna lubummaa Aroonitti utuu hin taʼin lubni akka sirna lubummaa Malkiiseedeqitti filatame dhufuun isaa maaliif barbaachise ree? Seerri sirna lubummaa Lewwii kana irratti hundeeffamee sabaaf kennameetii.
Now if the crowning blessing was attainable by means of the Levitical priesthood--for as resting on this foundation the people received the Law, to which they are still subject-- what further need was there for a Priest of a different kind to be raised up belonging to the order of Melchizedek instead of being said to belong to the order of Aaron?
12 Yommuu lubummaan geeddaramu seerichis akkasuma geeddaramaatii.
For when the priesthood changes, a change of Law also of necessity takes place.
13 Inni wanni kun waaʼee isaa dubbatame sun gosti isaa kan biraa ti; gosa kana keessaas namni tokko iyyuu takkumaa iddoo aarsaa hin tajaajille.
He, however, to whom that prophecy refers is associated with a different tribe, not one member of which has anything to do with the altar.
14 Gooftaan keenya akka sanyii Yihuudaa irraa dhalate beekamaadhaatii; Museenis gosa sana ilaalchisee waaʼee lubummaa homaa hin dubbanne.
For it is undeniable that our Lord sprang from Judah, a tribe of which Moses said nothing in connection with priests.
15 Yommuu lubni akka Malkiiseedeqi kan biraa kaʼutti, wanni nu dubbanne sun ittuma caalee ifa taʼa;
And this is still more abundantly clear when we read that it is as belonging to the order of Melchizedek that a priest of a different kind is to arise,
16 innis utuu ajaja fooniitiin hin taʼin humna jireenya hin badneetiin luba taʼe.
and hold His office not in obedience to any temporary Law, but by virtue of an indestructible Life.
17 Waaʼee isaas, “Akkuma sirna Malkiiseedeqitti, ati luba bara baraa ti” jedhamee dhugaa baʼameeraafiitii. (aiōn )
For the words are in evidence, "Thou art a priest for ever, belonging to the order of Melchizedek." (aiōn )
18 Ajajni duraa sun waan dadhabaa fi kan hin fayyadne tureef diigameera.
On the one hand we have here the abrogation of an earlier code because it was weak and ineffective--
19 Sababii seerri waanuma tokko illee kan mudaa hin qabne hin godhiniif abdiin caalu kan nu ittiin gara Waaqaatti dhiʼaannu tokko dhufeera.
for the Law brought no perfect blessing--but on the other hand we have the bringing in of a new and better hope by means of which we draw near to God.
20 Kunis kakaa malee hin taane! Warri kaan immoo kakaa tokko malee luboota taʼan;
And since it was not without an oath being taken--
21 inni garuu yeroo Waaqni, “Gooftaan, ‘Ati luba bara baraa ti’ jedhee kakateera; inni yaada isaa hin geeddaru” isaan jedhetti kakaadhaan luba taʼe. (aiōn )
for these men hold office without any oath having been taken, but He holds it attested by an oath from Him who said to Him, "The Lord has sworn and will not recall His words, Thou art a Priest for ever" -- (aiōn )
22 Yesuus sababii kakaa kanaatiif kakuu caaluuf wabii taʼeera.
so much the more also is the Covenant of which Jesus has become the guarantor, a better covenant.
23 Luboonni durii sababii duuti akka isaan tajaajila itti hin fufneef isaan dhowweef baayʼee turan;
And they have been appointed priests many in number, because death prevents their continuance in office:
24 Yesuus garuu waan bara baraan jiraatuuf lubummaa hin geeddaramne qaba. (aiōn )
but He, because He continues for ever, has a priesthood which does not pass to any successor. (aiōn )
25 Kanaaf inni yeroo hundumaa waan isaaniif kadhachuuf jiraatuuf warra karaa isaatiin gara Waaqaa dhufan guutumaan guutuutti fayyisuu ni dandaʼa.
Hence too He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, seeing that He ever lives to plead for them.
26 Egaa luba ol aanaa qulqulluu, kan mudaa hin qabne, kan xurii hin qabne, kan cubbamoota irraa adda taʼe, samii olittis kan kabajame akkasii qabaachuun nu barbaachisa.
Moreover we needed just such a High Priest as this--holy, guileless, undefiled, far removed from sinful men and exalted above the heavens;
27 Inni akka luboota ol aantota kaaniitti guyyuma guyyaan duraan dursee cubbuu ofii isaatiif, ergasii immoo cubbuu namootaatiif aarsaa dhiʼeessuun isa hin barbaachisu. Inni yommuu of kenne sanatti al tokko yeroo hundaaf cubbuu namootaatiif aarsaa dhiʼeesseeraatii.
who, unlike other High Priests, is not under the necessity of offering up sacrifices day after day, first for His own sins, and afterwards for those of the people; for this latter thing He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
28 Seerichi namoota dadhaboo, luboota ol aantota godhee muudaatii; dubbiin kakaa kan seera booddee dhufe garuu, Ilma Waaqaa isa bara baraan mudaa hin qabne sana muuda. (aiōn )
For the Law constitutes men High Priests--men with all their infirmity--but the utterance of the oath, which came later than the Law, constitutes High Priest a Son who has been made for ever perfect. (aiōn )
