1 Kanaafuu kottaa barsiisa waaʼee Kiristoos isa jalqabaa sana dhiifnee gara bilchinaatti dabarraa; waaʼee hojii gara duʼaatti nama geessuu irraa deebiʼuu fi waaʼee Waaqatti amanuu lammata hundee hin buufnu;
So then, let us leave the beginning of the message of Christ and move forward to maturity. Let us not lay again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith in God,
2 akkasumas barsiisa waaʼee cuuphaa, waaʼee harka nama irra kaaʼuu, waaʼee duʼaa kaʼuu warra duʼaniitii fi waaʼee murtii bara baraa ammas hundee hin buufnu. (aiōnios g166)
nor the foundation of teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. (aiōnios g166)
3 Nus yoo Waaqni jedhe waan kana ni goona.
We will also do this if God permits.
4 Warra yeroo tokko ifni ifeefii kennaa samii dhandhamatan, kanneen Hafuura Qulqulluu irraa qooddatan,
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, who tasted the heavenly gift, who were sharers of the Holy Spirit,
5 warra gaarummaa dubbii Waaqaatii fi humna bara dhufuuf jiru sanaa dhandhamatanii (aiōn g165)
and who tasted God's good word and the powers of the age to come, (aiōn g165)
6 ergasii garuu amantii irraa gara galan, gara qalbii jijjiirrannaatti isaan fiduun hin dandaʼamu; sababiin isaas isaan fedhuma isaaniitiin deebisanii Ilma Waaqaa ni fannisu; fuula namootaa durattis salphinatti isa saaxilu.
but who then fell away—it is impossible to restore them again to repentance. This is because they crucify the Son of God for themselves again, and publicly shame him.
7 Lafti bokkaa yeroo baayʼee irratti roobu dhugdee warra ishee qotataniif midhaan fayyadu kennitu eebba Waaqaa argatti.
For the land that drinks in the rain that often comes on it, and that gives birth to the plants useful to those for whom the land was worked—this is the land that receives a blessing from God.
8 Lafti qoraattii fi sokorruu biqilchitu garuu faayidaa hin qabdu; abaaramuus geesseerti. Dhumni ishees gubamuu dha.
But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and is near to a curse. Its end is in burning.
9 Yaa michoota jaallatamtoota, nu yoo akkana dubbanne illee waaʼee keessan waan wayyu, waan fayyina wajjin deemus akka qabdan mirkaneeffanneerra.
But we are convinced about better things concerning you, beloved ones, things that concern salvation, even though we speak like this.
10 Waaqni qulqulloota tajaajiluu keessanii fi ammas tajaajiluu keessaniin hojii isin hojjettanii fi jaalala maqaa isaatiif argisiiftan irraanfachuuf jalʼaa mitiitii.
For God is not so unjust that he would forget your work and the love that you have shown for his name, because you served the believers and still serve them.
11 Nus akka tokkoon tokkoon keessan abdii keessan mirkaneessitanii hamma dhumaatti tattaaffii akkanaa argisiiftan barbaanna.
We greatly desire that each of you may show the same diligence to the end, in order to make your hope certain.
12 Nu akka isin fakkeenya warra amantii fi obsaan waan waadaa galame sana dhaalanii duukaa buutan barbaanna malee akka isin dhibaaʼoo taatan hin barbaannu.
This is so that you will not become lazy, but imitators of those who by faith and patience inherit the promises.
13 Waaqni yeroo Abrahaamiif waadaa galetti kan isa caalu kan inni ittiin kakatu tokko iyyuu waan hin jirreef matuma ofiitiin kakate.
For when God made his promise to Abraham, he swore by himself, since he could not swear by anyone greater.
14 Innis, “Ani dhugumaan eebba, sin eebbisa; baayʼisuus si baayʼisa” jedha.
He said, “I will certainly bless you, and I will greatly increase you.”
15 Kanaafuu Abrahaam obsaan eeggatee waan waadaa galame sana argate.
In this way, Abraham obtained what was promised after he had patiently waited.
16 Namoonni kan isaan caaluun kakatu; kakuun sunis waan jedhame sana mirkaneessee akka falmiin hundumtuu fiixaan baʼu godha.
For people swear by someone greater than themselves. At the end of each of their disputes, an oath serves as confirmation.
17 Waaqni haala kaayyoo isaa kan hin geeddaramne sana caalaatti ibsee warra waadaa dhaalanitti argisiisuu waan barbaadeef waadaa sana kakuudhaan cimse.
When God decided to show more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable quality of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath.
18 Egaa waan hin geeddaramne kan Waaqni waaʼee isaanii sobuu hin dandeenye lamatu jira; kanaafuu nu warri isatti baqanne abdii fuula keenya dura kaaʼame sana jabeessinee qabachuuf jajjabina guddaa qabna.
He did this so that by two unchangeable things—with which it is impossible for God to lie—we, who have fled for refuge, will have a strong encouragement to hold firmly to the hope set before us.
19 Nus abdii kana akka hiituu dooniitti lubbuuf qabna. Abdiin kunis iddoo qulqulluu golgaa duuba jiru sana ol seena;
We have this as a secure and reliable anchor for the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,
20 iddoon kunis kan Yesuus iddoo keenya buʼee nu dursee itti ol seenee dha. Innis akka sirna Malkiiseedeqitti luba ol aanaa bara baraa taʼeera. (aiōn g165)
where Jesus, who went before us, has entered into that place on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. (aiōn g165)
