< Haagee 2 >

1 Jiʼa torbaffaa keessaa, bultii digdamii tokkoffaatti dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee karaa Haagee raajichaatiin dhufe;
On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
2 “Zarubaabel ilma Sheʼaltiiʼeel bulchaa Yihuudaatti, Iyyaasuu ilma Yehoozaadaaq lubicha ol aanaattii fi hambaa uummataatti dubbadhu. Akkanas jedhii isaan gaafadhu;
“Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
3 ‘Isin keessaa namni mana kana ulfina isaa kan duraa sana argee amma iyyuu jiru eenyu? Inni amma maal isinitti fakkaata? Waanuma faayidaa hin qabne tokko isinitti hin fakkaatuu?
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
4 Yaa Zarubaabel, egaa amma jabaadhu’ jedha Waaqayyo. ‘Yaa Iyyaasuu ilma Yehoozaadaaq lubicha ol aanaa atis jabaadhu. Isinis sabni biyya kanaa hundinuu jabaadhaatii hojjedhaa’ jedha Waaqayyo. ‘Ani isin wajjinan jiraatii’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
5 ‘Yeroo isin biyya Gibxii baatan sanatti, kakuun ani isin wajjin galee kanaa dha. Hafuurri koo isin gidduu jira. Isin hin sodaatinaa.’
This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
6 “Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha: ‘Ani ammas yeroo gabaabaa keessatti deebiʼee samiiwwanii fi lafa, galaanaa fi lafa goggogaa nan raasa.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land.
7 Ani saboota hunda nan raasa; qabeenyi sabootaa hundi ni dhufa; anis mana kana ulfinaan nan guuta’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
8 ‘Meetiin kan koo ti; warqeenis kan koo ti’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.
The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
9 ‘Ulfinni mana ammaa kun ulfina mana duraa sanaa ni caala’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu. ‘Anis iddoo kanatti nagaa nan kenna’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.”
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
10 Waggaa lammaffaa bulchiinsa Daariyoos keessa, bultii digdamii afuraffaa jiʼa saglaffaatti, dubbiin Waaqayyoo akkana jedhee gara Haagee raajichaa dhufe;
On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
11 “Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu akkana jedha; ‘Waan seerri jedhu luboota gaafadhu;
“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
12 yoo namni tokko foon qulqulleeffamee Waaqaaf kenname fuudhee dachaa wayyaa isaa keessatti baatee wayyaan sun buddeena yookaan ittoo, daadhii wayinii, zayitii yookaan nyaata gosa biraa tuqe, nyaanni sun ni qulqulleeffamaa?’” Luboonnis, “Waawuu” jedhanii deebisaniif.
If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
13 Ergasii Haageen akkana jedhe; “Namni reeffa tuqee xuraaʼe tokko yoo wantoota kanneen keessaa tokko tuqe wanni sun ni xuraaʼaa?” Luboonni sunis, “Eeyyee, wanni sun ni xuraaʼa” jedhanii deebisaniif.
So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
14 Haageen akkana jedhe; “‘Uummanni kunii fi sabni kun fuula koo duratti akkasuma’ jedha Waaqayyo. ‘Wanni isaan hojjetan hundii fi wanni isaan achitti dhiʼeessan hundi xuraaʼaa dha.
Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
15 “‘Egaa guyyaa kanaa jalqabaatii of eeggannaadhaan qalbeeffadhaa; mana qulqullummaa Waaqayyoo keessatti haala utuu dhagaan tokko dhagaa kaan irra hin kaaʼamin dura ture hubadhaa.
Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
16 Namni kam iyyuu yeroo gara tuullaa safartuu digdamaa dhufetti safartuu kudhan qofa argate. Namni kam iyyuu yeroo daadhii wayinii safartuu shantama waraabbachuuf gara boolla itti wayinii cuunfanii dhaqetti safartuu digdama qofa argate.
from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
17 Ani hojii harka keessanii hunda waagiidhaan, awwaaroo fi cabbiidhaan nan rukute; isin garuu gara kootti hin deebine’ jedha Waaqayyo.
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
18 Guyyaa kanaa jalqabaatii jechuunis guyyaa digdamii afuraffaa jiʼa saglaffaa kanaa jalqabaatii hamma guyyaa hundeen mana qulqullummaa Waaqayyoo buufameetti of eeggannaadhaan qalbeeffadhaa.
Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
19 Amma iyyuu sanyiin gombisaa keessatti hafe tokko iyyuu jiraa? Hamma ammaatti mukni wayiniitii fi mukni harbuu, roomaanii fi mukni ejersaa ija hin naqanne. “‘Ani guyyaa kanaa jalqabee isin nan eebbisa.’”
Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
20 Dubbiin Waaqayyoo bultii digdamii afuraffaa jiʼa sanaatti yeroo lammaffaa akkana jedhee gara Haagee dhufe;
For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
21 “Akka ani samiiwwanii fi lafa raasuuf jiru Zarubaabel bulchaa Yihuudaatti himi.
“Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
22 Ani teessoo moototaa nan garagalcha; humna mootummoota biyya alaas nan barbadeessa. Ani gaariiwwanii fi ooftota isaanii nan garagalcha; fardeenii fi warra fardeen yaabbatan ni kufu; tokkoon tokkoon isaanii goraadee obboleessa isaaniitiin ni kufu.
I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
23 “‘Guyyaa sana’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu; ‘Yaa tajaajilaa koo Zarubaabel ilma Sheʼaltiiʼeel, ani sin fudhadha’ jedha Waaqayyo; ‘Ani waanan si filadheef akka qubeelaa chaappaa koo sin godhadha’ jedha Waaqayyo Waan Hunda Dandaʼu.”
On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
