< Anbaaqoom 1 >
1 Raajii Anbaaqoom raajichi arge.
This is the burden that Habakkuk the prophet received in a vision:
2 Yaa Waaqayyo, ani hamma yoomiittin gargaarsaaf sitti iyyadha? Ati garuu na hin dhaggeeffattu; yookaan ani hamma yoomiitti, “Goolii!” jedhee sitti booʼee ati garuu na hin oolchitu?
How long, O LORD, must I call for help but You do not hear, or cry out to You, “Violence!” but You do not save?
3 Ati maaliif akka ani murtii dabe argu na goota? Ati maaliif balleessaa namaa obsita? Badiisnii fi gooliin fuula koo dura jiru; lollii fi waldhabiinsi baayʼateera.
Why do You make me see iniquity? Why do You tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me. Strife is ongoing, and conflict abounds.
4 Kanaafuu seerri laamshaʼeera; murtiin qajeelaan dabsameera. Akka murtiin qajeelaan jalʼifamuuf; namoonni hamoon qajeelota marsu.
Therefore the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked hem in the righteous, so that justice is perverted.
5 “Saboota hubadhaa ilaalaa; akka malees dinqisiifadhaa. Ani bara keessan keessa waan isin yoo isinitti himame illee hin amanne tokko nan hojjedha.
“Look at the nations and observe— be utterly astounded! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe even if someone told you.
6 Ani warra Baabilon, uummata gara jabeessaa fi ariifataa, kan iddoo jireenya isaa hin taʼin qabachuuf guutummaa lafaa keessa yaaʼu sana nan kaasa.
For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans — that ruthless and impetuous nation which marches through the breadth of the earth to seize dwellings not their own.
7 Isaan saba sodaatamuu fi naasisuu dha; isaan ofii isaaniitiifuu seera; ulfina isaaniis ni guddifatu.
They are dreaded and feared; from themselves they derive justice and sovereignty.
8 Fardeen isaanii qeerransa caalaa saffisu; yeeyyii galgalaa caalaa sodaachisu. Namoonni isaanii kanneen farda yaabbatan ariitiidhaan gulufu; abbootiin farda isaaniis fagoodhaa dhufu. Isaan akkuma risaa waa nyaachuuf ariifatuu barrisu;
Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves of the night. Their horsemen charge ahead, and their cavalry comes from afar. They fly like a vulture, swooping down to devour.
9 isaan hundinuu jeequmsaaf dhufu. Tuunni isaanii akkuma bubbee gammoojjii gara fuula duraatti qajeela; namoota hidhamanis akkuma cirrachaa walitti qaba.
All of them come bent on violence; their hordes advance like the east wind; they gather prisoners like sand.
10 Isaan mootota tuffatanii bulchitootatti qoosu. Daʼannoo hundatti ni kolfu; biyyoos tuulanii isa qabatu.
They scoff at kings and make rulers an object of scorn. They laugh at every fortress and build up siege ramps to seize it.
11 Ergasii namoonni yakka hojjetan kanneen humna isaanii waaqa isaanii godhatan, akka bubbee lafa haxaaʼanii karaa isaanii itti fufu.”
Then they sweep by like the wind and pass on through. They are guilty; their own strength is their god.”
12 Yaa Waaqayyo, ati bara baraa jalqabdee jirta mitii? Yaa Waaqa ko, yaa Qulqullicha ko, ati gonkumaa hin duutu. Yaa Waaqayyo, ati akka isaan murtii kennaniif isaan muuddeerta; yaa Kattaa ko, ati akka isaan nama adabaniif isaan ramaddeerta.
Are You not from everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One? We will not die. O LORD, You have appointed them to execute judgment; O Rock, You have established them for correction.
13 Iji kee akka waan hamaa hin ilaalleef akka malee qulqulluu dha; ati daba argitee obsaan dhiisuu hin dandeessu. Yoos ati maaliif obsaan namoota hamoo ilaalta? Ati maaliif yeroo namoonni hamoon warra isaan caalaa qajeeloo taʼan liqimsanitti calʼistaa?
Your eyes are too pure to look upon evil, and You cannot tolerate wrongdoing. So why do You tolerate the faithless? Why are You silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?
14 Ati namoota akka qurxummii galaana keessaa, akka uumamawwan galaanaa kanneen bulchaa hin qabnee gooteerta.
You have made men like the fish of the sea, like creeping things that have no ruler.
15 Diinni hokkoodhaan isaan hunda ol baasa; kiyyoo isaatiinis isaan harkisa; kiyyoo isaa keessatti walitti isaan qabata; kanaafuu inni ni gammada; ni ililchas.
The foe pulls all of them up with a hook; he catches them in his dragnet, and gathers them in his fishing net; so he rejoices gladly.
16 Inni sababii kiyyoo isaatiin bashannanee nyaata isaa filatamaatti gammaduuf kiyyoo isaatiif aarsaa dhiʼeessa; kiyyoo isaatiif illee ixaana aarsa.
Therefore he sacrifices to his dragnet and burns incense to his fishing net, for by these things his portion is sumptuous and his food is rich.
17 Inni kiyyoo isaa keessaa garagalchuudhaan, gara laafina malee ittuma fufee saboota balleessuu qabaa?
Will he, therefore, empty his net and continue to slay nations without mercy?
