Uumama 20

1 Abrahaam achii kaʼee Negeebitti godaanee Qaadeshii fi Shuuri gidduu jiraate. Innis yeroodhaaf Geraaraa keessa ture.

And he set out from there Abraham [the] land of towards the Negev and he dwelt between Kadesh and between Shur and he sojourned in Gerar.

2 Achittis Abrahaam, “Isheen obboleettii koo ti” jedhee waaʼee niitii isaa, waaʼee Saaraa dubbate. Abiimelek mootiin Geraaraas nama itti ergee Saaraa fudhate.

And he said Abraham concerning Sarah wife his [is] sister my she and he sent Abimelech [the] king of Gerar and he took Sarah.

3 Waaqni immoo halkan abjuudhaan Abiimelekitti dhufee, “Kunoo sababii dubartii sana fuudhatteef ati nama duʼee dha; isheen dhirsa qabdiitii” jedheen.

And he came God to Abimelech in a dream the night and he said to him here you [are] about to die on the woman whom you have taken and she [is] married of a husband.

4 Abiimelek garuu isheetti hin dhiʼaanne ture; kanaafuu inni akkana jedhe; “Yaa Gooftaa ati saba qajeelaa balleessitaa?

And Abimelech not he had drawn near to her and he said O Lord ¿ a nation also righteous will you kill.

5 Inni mataan isaa, ‘Isheen obboleettii koo ti’ naan hin jennee? Isheenis akkasuma, ‘Inni obboleessa koo ti’ hin jennee? Anis sammuu qulqulluu fi harka qulqulluudhaan waan kana hojjedhe.”

¿ Not he did he say to me [is] sister my she and she also she she said [is] brother my he in [the] integrity of heart my and in [the] innocence of hands my I have done this.

6 Waaqni abjuu sana keessa akkana isaan jedhe; “Eeyyee! Ani akka ati sammuu qulqulluudhaan waan kana hojjette beeka; kanaafuu ani akka ati cubbuu natti hin hojjenneef si dhowween jira. Sababiin ani akka ati ishee bira geessu si hin dhiisiniifis kanuma.

And he said to him God in a dream also I I know that in [the] integrity of heart your you did this and I have restrained also I you from sinning to me there-fore not I have permitted you to touch her.

7 Egaa amma niitii namichaa deebisiif; inni waan raajii taʼeef, Waaqa siif kadhata; atis ni jiraatta. Garuu yoo ishee deebisuu baatte, ati akka duutu, warri kan kee taʼan hundis akka duʼan dhugumaan beeki.”

And therefore return [the] wife of the man for [is] a prophet he so he may pray for you and live and if not [are] you returning [her] know that certainly you will die you and all who [belong] to you.

8 Abiimelek guyyaa itti aanu ganama obboroon kaʼee qondaaltota isaa hunda walitti waamee waan taʼe hunda isaanitti hime; isaanis akka malee sodaatan.

And he rose early Abimelech in the morning and he summoned all servants his and he spoke all the words these in ears their and they were afraid the men exceedingly.

9 Abiimelekis Abrahaamin ofitti waamee akkana jedheen; “Ati maaliif akkana nu goote? Ani maal si goonaan ati cubbuu guddaa akkanaa anaa fi mootummaa kootti fidde? Ati waan namni hin hojjenne anatti hojjette.”

And he summoned Abimelech Abraham and he said to him what? have you done to us and what? have I sinned to you for you have brought on me and on kingdom my a sin great deeds which not they will be done you have done with me.

10 Abiimelekis “Ati maaliif waan kana hojjette?” jedhee Abrahaamin gaafate.

And he said Abimelech to Abraham what? did you see that you have done the thing this.

11 Abrahaam immoo akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani, ‘Biyya kana keessa dhugumaan Waaqa sodaachuun hin jiru; isaan sababii niitii kootiif jedhanii na ajjeesu’ jedheen yaadee ture.

And he said Abraham that I said certainly there not [is] [the] fear of God in the place this and they will kill me on [the] matter of wife my.

12 Taʼus isheen dhugumaan obboleettii koo ti; yoo haadha koo irraa dhalachuu baatte iyyuu isheen intaluma abbaa koo ti; isheenis niitii koo taate.

And also truly [is] sister my [the] daughter of father my she only not [the] daughter of mother my and she became of me a wife.

13 Anis yeroo Waaqni mana abbaa kootii na baase sana isheedhaan, ‘Haalli ati ittiin jaalala naaf qabdu mulʼiftu kanaa dha; lafa nu dhaqnu hundumaatti, “Inni obboleessa koo ti” jedhiitii waaʼee koo dubbadhun’ jedhe.”

And it was just as they caused to wander me God from [the] household of father my and I said to her this [is] loyalty your which you will do with me to every place where we will go there towards say of me [is] brother my he.

14 Abiimelek ergasii hoolaa fi loon, garboota dhiiraa fi nadheenii fidee Abrahaamiif kenne; niitii isaa Saaraas ni deebiseef.

And he took Abimelech sheep and cattle and [male] servants and female servants and he gave [them] to Abraham and he restored to him Sarah wife his.

15 Abiimelekis, “Kunoo biyyi koo fuula kee dura jira; idduma feete jiraadhu” jedheen.

And he said Abimelech there! land my [is] before you in the [place] good in view your dwell.

16 Saaraadhaanis, “Kunoo ani meetii saqilii kuma tokko obboleessa keetiifin kenna. Kunis akka dhugaa qabaachuun kee fuula warra si wajjin jiranii duratti beekamuuf; ati guutumaan guutuutti dhugaa argatteerta” jedhe.

And to Sarah he said here! I give a thousand silver to brother your there! it for you [is] a covering of eyes to all who [are] with you and with everyone [you are] vindicated.

17 Abrahaamis Waaqa kadhate; Waaqni immoo Abiimelek, niitii isaatii fi garboota isaa dubartoota fayyise; isaanis ijoollee godhatan.

And he prayed Abraham to God and he healed God Abimelech and wife his and female slaves his and they bore children.

18 Waaqayyo sababii niitii Abrahaam sababii Saaraatiif jedhee gadameessa dubartoota mana Abiimelek jiraatanii hunda cufee tureetii.

For certainly had shut up Yahweh behind every womb of [the] household of Abimelech on [the] matter of Sarah [the] wife of Abraham.
