1 Waggaa soddommaffaa keessa, bultii shanaffaa jiʼa afuraffaatti utuu ani Laga Kebaar biratti boojiʼamtoota gidduu jiruu samiiwwan ni banaman; anis mulʼata Waaqaa nan arge.
[I am] Ezekiel, a priest, the son of Buzi. When I was 30 years [old], I [living] among [Israeli] people who had been (exiled from/forced to leave) [and had come to Babylon]. I was living along the Kebar River/ [south of Babylon]. Almost five years after King Jehoiachin had been (exiled/forced to leave Judah), on the fifth day of the fourth [of that year, it was as though] the sky was opened and I saw visions from God. On that day,
2 Jiʼa sana keessaas bultii shanaffaatti jechuunis Yehooyaakiin Mootichi boojiʼamee waggaa shanaffaatti,
3 dubbiin Waaqayyoo Laga Kebaar biratti biyya Baabilonotaa keessatti gara Hisqiʼeel lubicha ilma Buuz dhufe. Achittis harki Waaqayyoo isa irra ture.
God gave me [in visions here] in Babylonia, and I felt the power [MTY] of Yahweh on me.
4 Anis milʼadhee bubbee hamaa karaa kaabaatiin dhufaa jiru jechuunis duumessa guddaa balaqqeessa ifuu fi ifa guddaan marfame tokkon arge. Wiirtuun ibidda sanaas sibiila ibiddaan diimeffame fakkaata ture;
[In one of the visions, I saw a] windstorm coming from the north. There was a huge cloud, and lightning was flashing continually, and a brilliant light surrounded the cloud. In the center of where the lightning was flashing there was something that resembled glowing bronze.
5 ibidda sana keessas waan uumamawwan jiraatoo afur fakkaatu tokkotu ture. Bifti isaas bifa namaa fakkaata ture;
In the center of the storm I saw what resembled four living creatures. They resembled humans,
6 tokkoon tokkoon isaanii fuula afur afurii fi qoochoo afur afur qabu turan.
but each of them had four faces and four wings [DOU].
7 Miilli isaanii qajeelaa dha; faanni isaanii immoo kottee jabbii fakkaatee akka naasii dibameetti ni calaqqisa ture.
Their legs were straight. Their feet resembled the hooves of calves, and the creatures shone like polished bronze.
8 Qoochoo isaanii jalaanis qixa afraniin harka namaa qabu ture. Afran isaanii hundi fuulaa fi qoochoo qabu turan;
On their four sides under their wings there were hands like humans have.
9 qoochoon isaaniis wal tuqa ture. Tokkoon tokkoon isaanii qajeelanii fuula duratti deeman; yeroo deemanittis of duuba hin milʼatan ture.
As the four [stood there, they formed a circle/square], with their wings touching each other. They did not turn when they were moving; they went straight ahead.
10 Fuulli isaanii kana fakkaata ture: Afran isaanii iyyuu tokkoon tokkoon isaanii fuula namaa qabu ture; karaa mirgaatiin tokkoon tokkoon isaanii fuula leencaa, karaa bitaatiin immoo fuula qotiyyoo qabu ture; akkasumas tokkoon tokkoon isaanii fuula risaa qabu ture.
[of the creatures had four faces]. The face that was in front [of each one was a face that] resembled a human face. The face on the right side resembled a lion’s face. The face on the left side resembled an ox’s face. The face in back resembled an eagle’s face.
11 Egaa fuulli isaanii akkas ture. Qoochoon isaaniis ol diriirfama ture. Tokkoon tokkoon isaanii qoochoo lama lama qabu ture. Qoochoo tokkoo tokkoo isaanii karaa lamaaniinuu qoochoo uumama kaanii tuqa; qoochoon lama immoo dhagna isaa haguuga ture.
Two of each creature’s wings were lifted up and touched the wings of the creatures that were on each side. The other two wings were folded against the creature’s body.
12 Tokkoon tokkoon isaanii qajeelanii fuula duratti ni deeman. Isaanis utuu of irra hin milʼatin iddoo hafuurri deemu hunda dhaqu turan.
The creatures went straight ahead in whatever direction the [that controlled/guided them] wanted them to go, without changing directions while they were moving.
13 Bifti uumamawwan jiraatoo sanaa cilee ibiddaa kan bobaʼu yookaan guca bobaʼu fakkaata ture. Uumamawwan sana gidduus ibiddi asii fi achi sosochoʼa ture; ni ifas ture; bakakkaanis isa keessaa ni baʼa ture.
[four] creatures resembled burning coals or torches. A blazing fire moved back and forth among the creatures, and lighting flashed from among them.
14 Uumamawwan sunis akka ifa bakakkaa asii fi achi darbatamu ture.
The creatures moved back and [extremely rapidly], like [SIM] flashes of lightning.
15 Anis akkuman uumamawwan jiraatoo sana ilaaleen tokkoo tokkoo uumama fuula afur afur qabu sanaa cinatti geengoo tokko tokko nan arge.
While I looked at the four living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each of them.
16 Biftii fi haalli geengoowwan sun ittiin hojjetamaniis akkana ture: Isaanis akka dhagaa gati jabeessa biiralee jedhamuu calaqqisu ture; afran isaanii hundinuu wal fakkaatu ture. Tokkoon tokkoon geengoo sanaa waan geengoo kaanitti diramee hojjetame fakkaata ture.
Each of the wheels was the same, and they all shone like [SIM] (chrysolite/a valuable green stone). Each seemed to have one wheel inside another wheel.
17 Isaanis yommuu deemanitti utuu of irra hin milʼatin kallattii afran kamiin iyyuu deeman; yommuu uumamawwan sun deemanis geengoowwan kallattii hin geeddaratan ture.
Whenever they moved, they would go straight in one of the four directions that they faced; they did not [in another direction] while they moved.
18 Qarqarri geengoowwan sanaas ol dheeraa fi sodaachisaa ture; qarqarri geengoowwanii afranuus guutumaan guutuutti ijaan marfamanii turan.
The rims of the wheels were covered with eyes.
19 Yeroo uumamawwan jiraatoon sun deemanitti geengoowwan isaan cinaan jiranis ni deeman; yommuu uumamawwan jiraatoon ol kaʼanitti geengoowwanis ol kaʼan.
Whenever the living creatures moved, the wheels moved with them. [So] whenever the creatures rose from the ground, the [also] rose up.
20 Iddoo hafuurri dhaqu hundas ni dhaqu ture; sababii hafuurri uumamawwan jiraatoo sanaa geengoowwan keessa jiruuf geengoowwanis isaan wajjin ol kaʼan.
Wherever the [that controlled the creatures] wanted the creatures to go, they went, and the wheels went with them, because the [that controlled/guided them] was in the wheels [DOU].
21 Yommuu uumamawwan sun deemanitti isaanis ni deeman; yommuu uumamawwan dhaabatanitti isaanis ni dhaabatan; sababii hafuurri uumamawwan jiraatoo sanaa geengoowwan keessa jiruuf yommuu uumamawwan sun lafaa ol kaʼanitti geengoowwanis isaanuma wajjin ol kaʼan.
Whenever the creatures moved, the wheels moved. Whenever the creatures [still], the wheels stopped. Whenever the creatures rose up from the ground, the wheels rose up with them.
22 Mataa uumamawwan jiraatoo sanaatiin ol waan akka bantii samii kan akka bilillee calaqqisuu fi kan nama sodaachisu tokkotu diriirfamee ture.
Above the heads of the creatures there was something that resembled a dome. It shone like ice (OR, crystal) shines, and it was awesome.
23 Bantii samii sana jalatti qoochoowwan isaaniis walitti diriirfamanii turan; tokkoon tokkoon isaaniis qoochoowwan ittiin dhagna isaanii haguuggatan lama lama qabu turan.
Under the dome, the creatures stretched out their wings. Each one had two wings; [each wing] stretched towards the creature [was next to] it, and two wings that were against the creature’s body.
24 Yeroo uumamawwan sun deemanitti ani sagalee qoochoowwan isaanii nan dhagaʼe; sagaleen kunis sagalee akka bishaan guutee huursuu, akka sagalee Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼuutii fi akka waca tuuta loltootaa ture. Isaan yeroo dhaabatan qoochoowwan isaanii gad qabatu ture.
Whenever the creatures moved, their wings made a sound that resembled the roar made by a rushing stream. It also sounded like the voice of Almighty God, and like [SIM] the noise of a huge army marching. Whenever the creatures stood [on the ground], they lowered their wings.
25 Akkuma isaan qoochoo isaanii gad qabatanii dhaabataniinis bantii samii kan mataa isaaniitiin ol jiru sana irraa sagaleen tokko dhufe.
While they [on the ground] with their wings lowered, there was a voice from the dome that was over their heads.
26 Bantii samii kan mataa isaaniitii ol jiru gubbaa waan akka teessoo sanpeer fakkaatu tokkotu ture; teessoo sanaa olittis fakkaattii akka fakkaattii namaa tokkotu ture.
Above the dome was something that resembled [huge] [that was made of a huge] (sapphire/valuable blue stone). Sitting on the throne was someone that resembled a human.
27 Anis waan mudhii isaa fakkaatuun olitti sibiila diimeffamee ibidda fakkaatu kan ibiddaan guutame tokko nan arge; waan mudhii isaa fakkaatu sanaan gadittis inni ibidda fakkaata ture; ifni guddaanis isa marsee ture.
I saw that above his waist his body resembled metal that was glowing as though it [a very hot] fire inside it. And I saw that below his waist there was a very brilliant light that surrounded him.
28 Gonfoon ifaa kan naannoo isaa ture sunis bifa sabbata Waaqaa kan guyyaa roobni roobuu fakkaata ture. Kunis bifa fakkaattii ulfina Waaqayyoo ture. Anis yeroon waan kana argetti addaan lafatti gombifamee sagalee waan dubbachaa jiru tokkoo nan dhagaʼe.
[shone] like [SIM] a rainbow shines in the clouds on a rainy day. That was the brilliant light that represented the presence of Yahweh. When I saw it, I prostrated myself on the ground, and I heard him speak.
