1 Utuu sangaan yookaan hoolaan obboleessa keetii badaa jiruu yoo argite, deebisiitii isatti fidi malee calʼiftee bira hin darbin.
Thou shalt not see the ox of thy brother or his sheep, going astray, and turn away from them, —thou shalt, bring them back unto thy brother.
2 Yoo obboleessi sun sirraa fagoo jiraate yookaan yoo isa beekuu baatte sangaa yookaan hoolaa sana fuudhii galiitii hamma inni barbaacha dhufutti of bira tursi. Ergasii deebisii isaaf kenni.
And, if thy brother be not nigh unto thee or thou know him not, then shalt thou make room for it within thee own shed and it shall be with thee, until thy brother seek after it, when thou shalt return it unto him.
3 Yoo harreen yookaan wayyaan yookaan wanni fedhe iyyuu obboleessa kee jalaa badee argite akkasuma godhi malee dhiiftee bira hin darbin.
And, so, shalt thou do with his ass, and, so, shalt thou do with his mantle and, so, shalt thou do with any lost thing of thy brother’s, which shall go astray from him and thou shalt find, —thou mayest not turn away.
4 Yoo harreen yookaan sangaan obboleessa keetii karaa irratti kufee argite akka inni ol kaasee miilla isaatiin dhaabu gargaari malee bira hin darbin.
Thou shalt not see the ass of thy brother or his ox fallen in the way, and turn away from them, —thou shalt, raise, them with him.
5 Dubartiin uffata dhiiraa uffachuu hin qabdu yookaan dhiirri uffata dubartii uffachuu hin qabu; Waaqayyo Waaqni kee nama waan akkasii hojjetu kam iyyuu ni jibbaatii.
A woman shall not have on the wearing apparel of a man, nor shall a man put on the mantle of a woman; for an abomination to Yahweh thy God, is any one who doeth these things.
6 Ati yoo mana simbiraa kan muka irra yookaan lafa jiru utuu haati cuucii ishee yookaan anqaaquu ishee hammattee jirtuu karaa cinatti argite haadha sana cuucii ishee wajjin hin fudhatin;
When a bird’s-nest chanceth to be before thee, —in the way, in any tree or upon the ground, whether with nestlings or eggs, and, the mother, be sitting upon the nestlings or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the mother upon the young;
7 ati cuucii ishee fudhachuu ni dandeessa; garuu akka siif tolee bara dheeraa jiraattuuf akka haadha gad dhiifte mirkaneeffadhu.
thou shalt, let go, the mother, and then, her young, mayest thou take for thyself, —that it may go well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.
8 Yommuu mana haaraa ijaartutti akka namni bantii manaa irraa kufee mana keetti yakka dhangalaʼuu dhiigaa hin fidneef qarqara bantii isaatti ittisa tolchi.
When thou buildest a new house, then shalt thou make a parapet to thy roof, so shalt thou not treasure up blood-guiltiness against thy house, for he that is in danger of falling might fall therefrom.
9 Iddoo dhaabaa wayinii keetii keessa sanyii gosa lamaa hin facaasin; yoo ati akkas goote sanyii ati facaafte sana qofa utuu hin taʼin iji iddoo dhaabaa wayinii keetiis ni bada.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with two sorts of seed, —lest the fulness of the seed which thou sowest, and the increase of thy vineyard be profaned.
10 Qotiyyoo fi harree walitti camaddee ittiin hin qotin.
Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together,
11 Uffata suufii fi quncee talbaa kan walitti foʼamee dhaʼame hin uffatin.
Thou shalt not put on linsey-woolsey, of wool and flax together.
12 Roga wayyaa uffattuu afran irratti handaara tolchi.
Tassels, shalt thou make thee, —on the four corners of thy vesture, wherewith thou dost cover thyself.
13 Yoo namni tokko niitii fuudhee erga ishee wajjin ciisee booddee ishee jibbee,
When a man taketh a wife, —and goeth in unto her and hateth her;
14 ishees qaanessee maqaa balleessuudhaan, “Ani niitii tana fuudheera; garuu yommuu ani ishee wajjin ciisetti waan durbummaa ishee mirkaneessu hin arganne” jedhee,
and raiseth against her occasions of speech, and bringeth upon her an evil name, and saith—This woman, I took, and approached her, and found not that she had the tokens of virginity,
15 abbaa fi haati intalattii ragaa durbummaa ishee mirkaneessu balbala irratti maanguddoota magaalattiitti haa dhiʼeessan.
then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth the tokens of the virginity of the damsel, unto the elders of the city, in the gate;
16 Abbaan intalattiis maanguddootaan akkana haa jedhu; “Ani intala koo nama kanatti heerumsiiseera; inni garuu ishee jibbe.
and the father of the damsel shall say unto the elders, —My daughter, gave I unto this man to wife and he hated her;
17 Maqaa ishees balleessee, ‘Ani intala kee durbummaa isheetiin hin arganne’ jedhe. Garuu ragaan durbummaa intala kootii mirkaneessu kunoo ti.” Kana irratti abbaa fi haati ishee fuula maanguddoota magaalattii duratti wayyaa sana haa diriirsan;
and lo! he, hath raised occasions of speech, saying—I found not that thy daughter had the tokens of virginity and yet, these, are the tokens of the virginity of my daughter. And they shall spread out the garment before the elders of the city.
18 maanguddoonni sunis namicha sana qabanii haa adaban.
Then shall the elders of that city take the man, and chastise him;
19 Isaanis sababii namichi kun maqaa durba Israaʼel tokkoo xureesseef meetii saqilii dhibba tokko baasisanii abbaa intalattiitiif haa kennan; isheen niitii isaa taatee haa jiraattu; innis hamma lubbuudhaan jirutti ishee hiikuu hin dandaʼu.
and fine him a hundred [shekels] of silver and give unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought an evil name upon a virgin of Israel, and she shall remain his wife, he may not put her away, all his days.
20 Taʼus yoo himannaan dhiʼaate sun dhugaa taʼee ragaan durbummaa intalattii mirkaneessu hin argamin,
But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found with the damsel,
21 isheen balbala mana abbaa ishee duratti fidamtee namoonni magaalaa ishee hamma isheen duututti dhagaadhaan ishee haa tuman; isheen utuma mana abbaa ishee jirtuu sagaagaluudhaan gocha Israaʼel keessatti qaanii taʼe hojjetteerti. Ati gidduu keetii waan hamaa baasuu qabda.
then shall they bring forth the damsel into the entrance of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die, because she hath wrought wickedness in Israel, by committing unchastity in her father’s house, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.
22 Yoo namni tokko utuu niitii nama biraa wajjin ciisuu argame lamaan isaanii iyyuu, namichi ishee wajjin ciisee fi dubartiin sun ajjeefamuu qabu. Ati Israaʼel keessaa waan hamaa baasuu qabda.
When a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then shall, both, of them die, the man that lay with the woman, and the woman, so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of Israel.
23 Yoo namni tokko durba kaadhimamte magaalaatti argee ishee wajjin ciise,
When a damsel that is a virgin is betrothed to a husband, —and a man findeth her in the city, and lieth with her,
24 waan isheen utuu magaalaa keessa jirtuu na oolchaa jettee hin iyyiniif, namichi immoo waan niitii nama biraa salphiseef, lamaan isaanii iyyuu gara balbala magaalaatti geessaatii hamma isaan duʼanitti dhagaadhaan tumaa. Waan hamaa gidduu keessanii balleessaa.
then shall ye bring them, both, out unto the gate of that city, and stone them with stones that they die, the damsel, because she made not an outcry in the city, and the man because he hath humbled his neighbour’s wife, —so shalt thou consume the wicked thing out of thy midst.
25 Garuu yoo namni tokko durba kadhatamte tokko baadiyyaatti argee ishee gudeede, namichi waan kana godhe qofti haa ajjeefamu.
But if in the field, the man find the betrothed damsel and the man force her and lie with her, then shall the man that lay with her die he alone;
26 Intalattii hin tuqinaa; isheen cubbuu duʼaan ishee gaʼu tokko iyyuu hin hojjenneetii. Dubbiin akkasii nama balaa buusee namicha ollaa isaa ajjeesuun wal fakkaata;
but, unto the damsel, shalt thou do nothing, the damsel, is not guilty of a sin worthy of death, for as when a man riseth up against his neighbour, and smiteth him so as to take away life, so, is this matter;
27 kunis waan namichi durba kaadhimamte sana baadiyyaatti argatee yoo iyyite illee namni isheef birmatu hin argamneef.
for in the field, he found her, —the betrothed damsel, made an outcry, and there was none to save her.
28 Namni tokko yoo durba hin kaadhimamin tokko argee humnaan ishee gudeedee wanni kun beekame,
When a man findeth a damsel that is a virgin who is not betrothed, and layeth hold of her and lieth with her, and they are found,
29 inni abbaa isheetii fi meetii saqilii shantama haa baasu. Inni waan gudeedee durbummaa ishee balleesseef ishee fuudhuu qaba. Hamma lubbuun jiruttis ishee hiikuu hin dandaʼu.
then shall the man who lay with her give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, —and she shall be, his, wife, because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away, all his days.
30 Namni tokko niitii abbaa isaa fuudhuu hin qabu; inni siree abbaa isaa hin xureessin.
A man shall not take his father’s wife, —neither shall he turn aside his father’s coverlet.
