Keessa Deebii 11

1 Waaqayyo Waaqa kee jaalladhu; yeroo hundas fedhii isaa, qajeelchawwan isaa, seerawwan isaatii fi ajajawwan isaa eegi.

Therefore shalt thou love Yahweh thy God and keep his observance and his statutes and his regulations and his commandments all the days.

2 Kan adabbii Waaqayyo Waaqa keessanii, surraa isaa, harka isaa jabaa fi irree isaa kan diriirfame beeke yookaan arge isinuma malee akka ijoollee keessan hin taʼin harʼa yaadadhaa.

And ye must know to-day, (for not with your sons [do I speak] who know not, neither have they seen) the discipline of Yahweh your God, —his greatness, his firm hand, and his stretched-out arm;

3 Mallattoowwanii fi wantoota inni Gibxi keessatti Faraʼoon mootii Gibxii fi biyya isaa guutuu irratti hojjete,

and his signs and his doings, which he did in the midst of Egypt, —unto Pharaoh king of Egypt and unto all his land;

4 waan inni loltoota Gibxi, fardeenii fi gaariiwwanis godhe, utuma isaan isin duukaa buʼanuu akka inni Galaana Diimaadhaan isaan haguuge, akka itti Waaqayyo badiisa bara baraa isaanitti fide yaadadhaa.

and what he did unto the forces of Egypt—unto his horses and unto his chariots in that he caused the waters of the Red Sea to flow over their faces, when they were pursuing after you, —and so Yahweh destroyed them (unto this day);

5 Waan inni hamma isin iddoo kana geessanitti lafa gammoojjii keessatti isiniif godhe kan arge ijoollee keessan miti;

and what he did unto you, in the desert, —until ye came in as far as this place;

6 isaan waan inni gaafa lafti afaan ishee banattee guutummaa Israaʼel gidduutti Daataanii fi Abiiraam ilmaan Eliiyaab namicha gosa Ruubeen sana maatii isaanii wajjin, dunkaanota isaaniitii fi qabeenya isaanii kan lubbuu qabu hunda liqimsitetti isaan godhe hin argine.

and what he did to Dathan and to Abiram, sons of Eliab, son of Reuben, in that the earth opened wide her mouth, and swallowed-up them and their households and their tents, —and all the living things that attended them, in the midst of all Israel.

7 Iji keessan garuu waan guddaa Waaqayyo godhe kanneen hunda argeera.

For yours, are the eyes that have seen every great deed of Yahweh, —which he hath done.

8 Kanaafuu isin akka Yordaanosiin ceetanii biyya dhaaluuf jirtanitti galuuf jabaattaniif ajajawwan ani harʼa isinii kennu hunda eegaa;

Therefore shall ye keep all the commandment which I am commanding thee, today, —that ye may be strong, and so enter and possess the land, whither ye are passing over to possess it;

9 kunis akka isin biyya Waaqayyo abbootii keessanii fi sanyii isaaniitiif kennuuf kakate kan aannanii fi damma baasu sana keessatti bara dheeraa jiraattaniif.

and that ye may prolong your days upon the soil which Yahweh sware unto your fathers, to give unto them and unto their seed, —a land flowing with milk and honey.

10 Biyyi ati dhaaluuf itti galaa jirtu kun akka biyya Gibxi kan ati keessaa baatee dhufte kan ati akkuma lafa biqiltuutti sanyii kee facaaftee miilla keetiin bishaan obaafte sanaa miti.

For the land which thou art entering to, possess, not like the land of Egypt, it is, from whence ye came out, —where thou didst sow thy seed, and then water it with thy foot, like a garden of herbs;

11 Biyyi ati Yordaanos ceetee dhaaltu kun garuu biyya tulluuwwanii fi sululawwanii kan samiidhaa bokkaa argatuu dha.

but the land whereinto ye are passing over to, possess it, is a land of hills, and valleys, —which of the rain of the heavens, doth drink water:

12 Biyyi kun biyya Waaqayyo Waaqni kee kunuunsuu dha; jalqaba waggaatii hamma dhuma waggaattis iji Waaqayyo Waaqa keetii ishee irraa hin buqqaʼu.

a land which Yahweh thy God careth for, —continually are the eyes of Yahweh thy God upon it, from the beginning of the year, even unto the end of the year.

13 Yoo ajajawwan ani harʼa isiniif kennu amanamummaadhaan eegdan jechuunis yoo isin Waaqayyo Waaqa keessan jaallattanii garaa keessan guutuu fi lubbuu keessan guutuudhaan isa tajaajiltan,

And it shall come to pass, if ye will hearken, unto my commandments, which, I am commanding you to-day, —to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him, with, all your heart, and with all your soul,

14 akka ati midhaan kee, wayinii keetii fi zayitii kee galfattuuf ani yeroo isaatti bokkaa birraatii fi bokkaa arfaasaa lafa keetti nan roobsa.

then [saith he] I will give the rain of your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain; so shalt thou gather in thy corn, and thy new wine and thine oil;

15 Loon keetiif marga bakkee nan kenna; atis nyaattee quufta.

and I will give grass in thy field for thy cattle, —and thou shalt eat and be satisfied.

16 Of eeggadhaa! Yoo kanaa achii isin akka garagaltanii waaqota biraa waaqeffattanii fi isaaniifis sagaddan gowwoomfamtu.

Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be befooled, —and ye turn aside and serve other gods, and bow down to them.

17 Ergasii dheekkamsi Waaqayyoo isinitti bobaʼa; innis akka bokkaan hin roobne, laftis oomisha hin kennineef samiiwwan ni cufa; isinis biyya gaarii Waaqayyo isiniif kennu irraa daftanii ni baddu.

So would the anger of Yahweh kindle upon you and he would shut up the heavens, that there should be no rain, and the ground, would not yield her increase, —so should ye perish speedily, from off the good land, which Yahweh is giving unto you.

18 Dubbiiwwan koo kanneen garaa fi qalbii keessanitti qabadhaa; akka mallattootti harkatti hidhadhaa; adda keessan irrattis maxxanfadhaa.

Therefore shall ye lay these my words upon your heart, and upon your soul, —and bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall serve as bands between your eyes;

19 Ijoollee keessanis barsiisaa; yeroo mana teessu, yeroo karaa deemtu, yeroo ciiftuu fi yeroo dammaqxutti waaʼee isaanii odeessi.

and ye shall teach them unto your children by speaking of them, —when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down and when thou risest up;

20 Michichilawwan balbala mana keetiitii fi karrawwan kee irrattis isaan barreessi;

and thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house and within thy gates:

21 kunis akka umuriin keessanii fi umuriin ijoollee keessanii biyya Waaqayyo abbootii keessaniif kennuuf kakate keessatti akkuma umurii samiiwwan lafaa oli jiraniitti dheeratuuf.

that your days may multiply, and the days of your children, upon the soil which Yahweh sware unto your fathers, to give unto them, —like the days of the heavens upon the earth.

22 Yoo isin ajajawwan ani isiniif kennu kanneen hunda of eeggannoodhaan duukaa buutan jechuunis yoo isin Waaqayyo Waaqa keessan jaallattan, karaa isaa hunda irra deemtanii fi isatti maxxantan,

For if ye do, indeed keep, all this commandment which I am commanding you to do it, —to love Yahweh your God, to Walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him,

23 Waaqayyo saboota hunda fuula keessan duraa ariʼee ni baasa; isinis saboota isin caalaa gurguddaa fi jajjaboo ni dhaaltu.

then will Yahweh dispossess all these nations, from before you, —and ye shall dispossess nations greater and stronger than ye:

24 Lafti miilli keessan irra dhaabate hundinuu keessan taʼa; daariin keessanis gammoojjiidhaa hamma Libaanoonitti, laga Efraaxiisii hamma galaana lixaatti ni balʼata.

every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread yours, shall it be, —from the desert and the Lebanon from the river—the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea, shall be your boundary.

25 Namni kam iyyuu fuula keessan dura dhaabachuu hin dandaʼu. Waaqayyo Waaqni keessan akkuma isin abdachiisetti rifachiisuu fi sodaachisuu keessan lafa isin dhaqxan hunda irra ni buusa.

No man shall stand before you, —the dread of you and the fear of you, will Yahweh your God put forth over the face of all the land whereon ye shall tread, as he spake unto you.

26 Kunoo, ani harʼa eebbaa fi abaarsa fuula keessan dura nan kaaʼa;

See! I am setting before you to-day, —a blessing, and a curse:

27 eebbi kunis yoo isin ajajawwan Waaqayyo Waaqa keessanii kanneen ani harʼa isiniif kennu eegdanii dha.

the blessing, when ye shall hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I am commanding you to-day;

28 Abaarsi immoo yoo isin ajajawwan Waaqayyo Waaqa keessanii dhagaʼuu diddanii karaa ani harʼa isin ajaje irraa garagaltanii waaqota biraa kanneen isin duraan hin beekne duukaa buutanii dha.

and the curse if ye, shall not hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh your God, but shall turn aside out of the way which I am commanding you to-day, —to go after other gods which ye know not.

29 Yommuu Waaqayyo Waaqni kee biyya ati dhaaluuf itti galtu kanatti si fidutti Tulluu Gerziim irratti eebba, Tulluu Eebaal irratti immoo abaarsa labsita.

And it shall come to pass when Yahweh thy God shall bring thee into the land which thou art entering to possess, then shalt thou put the blessing, upon Mount Gerizim, and the curse, upon Mount Ebal.

30 Tulluuwwan kunneen Yordaanos gamatti, karaa gara lixa biiftuutti geessuun gama lixaatti, muka Mooree guddicha biratti, biyya Kanaʼaanota Arabbaa keessa jiraatan keessatti fuullee Gilgaalitti argamu mitii?

Are, they, not over the Jordan on the way towards the entering in of the sun, in the land of the Canaanite who dwelleth in the plain over against Gilgal beside the Teacher’s Terebinths?

31 Isin biyya Waaqayyo Waaqni keessan isiniif kennu seentanii dhaaluuf Yordaanosin ceʼuudhaaf jirtu; yommuu lafa sana dhaaltanii irra jiraattanitti,

For ye are passing over the Jordan, to enter to possess the land which Yahweh your God, is giving unto you, —so shall ye possess it and dwell therein.

32 ajajawwanii fi seerawwan ani harʼa fuula keessan dura kaaʼu hunda eegaa.

Therefore shall ye observe to do all the statutes and the regulations, —which I am setting before you to-day.
