Qolosaayis 3
1 Egaa isin erga Kiristoos wajjin kaafamtanii waan ol gubbaa, mirga Waaqaa iddoo Kiristoos taaʼu sana jiru barbaadaa.
Since, therefore, you were raised to life with the Christ, seek for the things that are above; for it is there that the Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
2 Waan ol gubbaa yaadaa malee waan lafa irraa hin yaadinaa.
Fix your thoughts on the things that are above, not on those that are on earth.
3 Duutaniirtuutii; jireenyi keessanis Kiristoos wajjin Waaqa keessa dhokfameera.
For you died, and your life now lies hidden, with the Christ, in God.
4 Yommuu Kiristoos inni jireenya keessan taʼe sun mulʼatutti isinis isa wajjin ulfinaan ni mulʼattu.
When the Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5 Kanaaf hawwii addunyaa isa isin keessatti hojjechaa jiru hundumaa ajjeesaa; kunis halalummaa, xuraaʼummaa, dharraa foonii, hawwii hamaa fi sassattummaa isa waaqa tolfamaa waaqeffachuu taʼe sanaa dha.
Therefore destroy all that is earthly in you – immorality, uncleanness, passions, evil desires, and that greed which is idolatry.
6 Sababii kanaafis dheekkamsi Waaqaa warra hin ajajamnetti ni dhufa.
These are the things because of which the wrath of God comes,
7 Isinis jireenya dur jiraattan keessatti karuma akkasii irra deddeebiʼaa turtan.
and to which you, like others, once devoted your lives, when you lived for them.
8 Amma garuu waan akkasii hunda: aarii, dheekkamsa, hamminaa fi maqaa nama balleessuu of irraa fageessaa; dubbiin gadheenis afaan keessanii hin baʼin.
You, however, must now lay aside all such things – anger, passion, malice, slander, abuse.
9 Wal hin sobinaa; isin eenyummaa keessan isa moofaa sana hojii isaa wajjin of irraa baaftanii
Never lie to one another. Get rid of your old self and its habits,
10 eenyummaa haaraa kan beekumsa fakkaattii Uumaa isaatiin haaromfamaa jirus uffattaniirtu.
and clothe yourselves with that new self, which, as it gains in knowledge, is being constantly renewed in resemblance to him who made it.
11 Sababii kanaaf, nama Giriik yookaan Yihuudii, nama dhagna qabate yookaan kan dhagna hin qabatin, nama wallaalaa, nama jireenya isaa hin qajeelfatin, garba yookaan birmaduu jechuun hin jiru; Kiristoos garuu hunduma; hunduma keessas jira.
In that new life there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all! – and in all!
12 Kanaafuu isin akkuma warra Waaqaaf filatamanii qulqullaaʼanii fi jaallatamaniitti, gara laafummaa, arjummaa, gad of qabiisa, garraamummaa fi obsa qabaadhaa.
Therefore, as God’s people, consecrated and dear to him, clothe yourselves with tenderness of heart, kindliness, humility, gentleness, forbearance;
13 Wal dandaʼaa; yoo eenyu iyyuu nama tokko illee irraa komii qabaate walii dhiisaa. Akkuma Gooftaan isinii dhiise sana isinis walii dhiisaa.
bearing with one another, and, when there is any ground for complaint, forgiving one another freely. As the Master freely forgave you, so you must forgive one another.
14 Kana hundumaa irrattis jaalala waan hundumaa tokkummaa hirʼina hin qabneen walitti hidhu qabaadhaa.
Over all these virtues put on love; for that is the belt which makes all complete.
15 Nagaan Kiristoos kan isin akkuma kutaa dhagna tokkootti itti waamamtan sun garaa keessan keessatti haa moʼu. Warra galateeffattanis taʼaa.
Let the peace that the Christ gives decide all doubts within your hearts; for you also were called to the enjoyment of peace as members of one body. And show yourselves thankful.
16 Dubbiin Kiristoos baayʼinaan isin keessa haa jiraatu; ogummaa hundaan wal barsiisaa; wal gorsaas; faarfannaadhaan, weedduu galataatii fi faarfannaa Hafuuraatiin garaa keessan keessatti Waaqa galateeffadhaa.
Let the message of the Christ be alive in your minds in all its wealth, bringing all wisdom with it. Teach and admonish one another with psalms, and hymns, and sacred songs, full of the loving kindness of God, lifting your hearts in song to him.
17 Dubbiinis taʼu hojiidhaan, waan hojjettan kam iyyuu maqaa Gooftaa Yesuusiin hojjedhaa; isumaanis Waaqa Abbaa galateeffadhaa.
And, whatever you say or do, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus; and through him offer thanksgiving to God the father.
18 Yaa niitota, akka Gooftaaf taʼutti dhirsoota keessaniif ajajamaa.
Wives, submit to your husbands, as befits those who belong to the Lord.
19 Yaa dhirsoota, isinis niitota keessan jaalladhaa; isaanittis hin hammaatinaa.
Husbands, love your wives, and never treat them harshly.
20 Yaa ijoolle, waan hundumaan abbootii fi haadhota keessaniif ajajamaa; kun Gooftaa gammachiisaatii.
Children, always obey your parents; for that is pleasant to see in those who belong to the Lord.
21 Yaa abbootii, isinis akka ijoolleen keessan abdii hin kutanneef tuttuqxanii isaan hin aarsinaa.
Fathers, never irritate your children, otherwise they might become disheartened.
22 Yaa garboota, isinis warra fooniin gooftota keessan taʼaniif waan hundaan ajajamaa; kanas yeroo isaan isin ilaalan qofa isaan gammachiisuuf utuu hin taʼin garaa qulqulluu fi Gooftaa sodaachuudhaan godhaa.
Slaves, always obey your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you, as if you had but to please people alone, but giving them ungrudging service, in your respect for the Master.
23 Waan hojjettan hunda akka waan namaaf hojjettaniitti utuu hin taʼin akka waan Gooftaaf hojjettaniitti garaa guutuudhaan hojjedhaa;
Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as if working for the Master and not for people,
24 kunis sababii isin akka Gooftaa biraa badhaasa dhaalaa argattan beektaniif. Kan isin tajaajilaa jirtan Kiristoos Goofticha.
since you know that it is from the Master that you will receive the inheritance which will be your reward. You are serving Christ, the Master.
25 Namni balleessaa hojjetu kam iyyuu gatii balleessaa isaa ni argataatii; nama wal caalchisuunis hin jiru.
Those who do wrong will reap the wrong they have done; and there will be no partiality.
