Amoos 2

1 Waaqayyo akkana jedha: “Ani cubbuu Moʼaab sadiif, afuriifis dheekkamsa koo duubatti hin deebisu. Sababii inni lafee mootii Edoom gubee daaraa godheef,

Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because he burnt the bones of the king of Edom into lime;

2 ani ibidda daʼannoo Keriiyooti barbadeessu tokko Moʼaabitti nan erga. Moʼaab iyya waraanaatii fi sagalee malakataatiin duʼa.

And I will send a fire against Moab, which shall devour the palaces of Keriyoth: and Moab shall die in the tumult, in the shouting, amidst the sound of the cornet;

3 Ani bulchaa ishee ajjeesee qondaaltota ishee hundas isa wajjinin fixa” jedha Waaqayyo.

And I will cut off the judges from her midst, and all her princes will I slay, with him, saith the Lord.

4 Waaqayyo akkana jedha: “Ani cubbuu Yihuudaa sadiif, afuriifis dheekkamsa koo duubatti hin deebisu. Sababii isaan seera Waaqayyoo didanii ajaja isaas hin eeginiif, sababii isaan waaqota sobaa, waaqota abbootiin isaanii duukaa buʼan sanaan karaa irraa jalʼataniif,

Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they have despised the law of the Lord, and did not keep his statutes, and their lying idols caused them to err, after which their fathers had walked;

5 ani ibidda daʼannoo Yerusaalem barbadeessu tokko Yihuudaatti nan erga.”

And I will send out a fire against Judah, which shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

6 Waaqayyo akkana jedha: “Ani cubbuu Israaʼel sadiif, afuriifis dheekkamsa koo duubatti hin deebisu. Isaan qajeeltota meetiitti, rakkattoota immoo kophee cimdii tokkotti gurguratan.

Thus hath said the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, will I not turn away their punishment; because they sold for silver the righteous, and the needy for a pair of shoes;

7 Isaan akkuma biyyoo lafaatti mataa hiyyeeyyii irra ijaajjanii cunqurfamaas murtii qajeelaa dhowwatan. Abbaa fi ilmi durba tokkotti galanii akkasiin maqaa koo qulqulluu xureessan.

That are eager after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same young woman, in order to profane my holy name.

8 Isaan uffata qabdiidhaan nama irraa fudhatan irra iddoo aarsaa hunda bira ciciisan. Isaan daadhii wayinii kan warra adabaman biraa dhufe, mana waaqa isaanii keessatti dhugu.

And upon pledged garments they stretch themselves out by every altar, and the wine of the condemned do they drink in the house of their gods.

9 “Inni akkuma birbirsaa dheeratee akka qilxuu jabaatu iyyuu, ani namicha Amoor sana fuula isaanii duratti galaafadheera. Ani gubbaadhaa ija isaa, jalaan immoo hidda isaa balleesseera.

Yet have I destroyed the Emorite from before them, whose height was like the height of cedars, and who was strong as the oaks; but I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

10 “Ani biyya Amoorotaa isiniif kennuuf jedhee, biyya Gibxiitii isin baasee waggaa afurtama gammoojjii keessa isinan geggeesse.

And it was I who have brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to take possession of the land of the Emorite.

11 “Akkasumas ani ilmaan keessan gidduudhaa raajota, dargaggoota keessan gidduudhaa immoo Naaziroota kaaseera. Yaa saba Israaʼel, wanni kun dhuguma mitii?” jedha Waaqayyo.

And I have raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for nazarites: is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the Lord.

12 “Isin garuu Naaziroota daadhii wayinii obaaftanii akka raajonnis raajii hin dubbanne ajajjan.

But ye have given the nazarites wine to drink; and concerning the prophets have ye commanded, saying, Ye shall not prophesy.

13 “Ani akkuma gaariin yommuu midhaaniin guutamu caccabu sana, amma isinan caccabsa.

Behold, I press down [the ground] under you, as the wagon presseth [it] down that is full of sheaves.

14 Saffisaan hin miliqu; namoonni jajjaboon humna isaanii hin jabeeffatan; loltuunis lubbuu isaa hin oolfatu.

And refuge shall vanish from the swift, and the strong shall not make use of his force, neither shall the mighty man escape with his life.

15 Abbaan xiyyaa jabaatee dhaabachuu hin dandaʼu; loltuun saffisaan fiigee jalaa hin baʼu; abbaan fardaas lubbuu isaa oolfachuu hin dandaʼu.

And he that handleth the bow shall not be able to stand; and he that is swift of foot shall not escape: neither shall he that rideth the horse escape with his life.

16 Loltoonni akka malee jajjaboon iyyuu gaafas qullaa isaanii baqatu” jedha Waaqayyo.

And he that is most courageous hearted among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, saith the Lord.
