1 Gidduudhuma sana Saaʼol barattoota Gooftaa ajjeesuuf dhaadachaa gara luba ol aanaa dhaqee,
But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
2 nama karaa kana irra jiru kam iyyuu dhiiras dubartiis yoo argate akka hidhee Yerusaalemitti geessuuf akka lubni sun gara manneen sagadaa kanneen Damaasqoo jiraniitti xalayaawwan isaaf barreessuuf isa kadhate.
and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3 Utuu inni deemaa jiruu akkuma Damaasqootti dhiʼaateen akkuma tasaa ifni tokko samii irraa naannoo isaatti balaqqise.
As he traveled, it happened that he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him.
4 Innis lafatti kufee sagalee, “Yaa Saaʼol, Yaa Saaʼol, ati maaliif na ariʼatta?” isaan jedhu tokko dhagaʼe.
And he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
5 Saaʼolis, “Yaa Gooftaa, ati eenyu?” jedhee gaafate. Innis akkana jedhee deebiseef; “Ani Yesuus isa ati ariʼattuu dha. Arfii wayii dhiituun suma miidha.
And he said, "Who are you, Lord?" And he said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
6 Amma kaʼii magaalaa seeni; wanni ati gootu sitti himamaatii” jedheen.
But rise up, and enter into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
7 Namoonni Saaʼol wajjin deemaa turanis waan dubbatan dhabanii dhadhaabatan; isaanis sagalee dhagaʼan malee nama tokko illee hin argine.
The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the sound, but seeing no one.
8 Saaʼolis lafaa kaʼe; innis yommuu iji isaa banametti homaa arguu hin dandeenye; isaanis harka isaa qabanii Damaasqootti isa geessan.
Saul arose from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could not see anything. They led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.
9 Iji isaas Guyyaa sadii guutuu arguu hin dandeenye; innis homaa hin nyaanne; homaas hin dhugne.
He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.
10 Damaasqoo keessa barataa Anaaniyaas jedhamu tokkotu ture. Gooftaanis mulʼataan, “Yaa Anaaniyaas!” jedhee isa waame. Innis, “Yaa Gooftaa, kunoo ani asin jira” jedhee deebise.
Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Look, it's me, Lord."
11 Gooftaanis akkana jedheen; “Kaʼii gara daandii ‘Qajeelaa’ jedhamu sanaa mana Yihuudaa dhaqiitii nama Saaʼol jedhamu kan Xarseesii dhufe tokko iyyaafadhu; inni kadhannaa irra jiraatii.
The Lord said to him, "Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus. For look, he is praying,
12 Saaʼolis nama Anaaniyaas jedhamu tokko isaa dhufee akka agartuun isaa deebiʼuufiif harka isa irra kaaʼu mulʼataan arge.”
and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight."
13 Anaaniyaasis deebisee akkana jedhe; “Yaa Gooftaa, ani waaʼee namicha kanaa, miidhaa inni qulqulloota kee warra Yerusaalem jiraatan irratti hojjete hundumaa dhagaʼeera.
But Ananias answered, "Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he did to your saints at Jerusalem.
14 Ammas warra maqaa kee waammatan hunda hidhuuf jedhee luboota hangafoota irraa aangoo fudhatee dhufeera.”
Here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name."
15 Gooftaan garuu Anaaniyaasiin akkana jedhe; “Namichi kun miʼa koo kan ani akka inni namoota Ormaatii fi mootota isaanii duratti, saba Israaʼel durattis maqaa koo baatuuf jedhee filadhe waan taʼeef kaʼii dhaqi!
But the Lord said to him, "Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel.
16 Ani akka inni maqaa kootiif jedhee rakkachuu qabu isattin argisiisa.”
For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake."
17 Anaaniyaasis dhaqee mana sana seene. Harka isaas Saaʼol irra kaaʼee, “Yaa obboleessa koo Saaʼol, Gooftaa Yesuus inni utuu ati as dhuftuu karaa irratti sitti mulʼate sun akka ati argituu fi akka ati Hafuura Qulqulluun guutamtuuf na ergeera” jedhe.
Ananias departed, and entered into the house. Laying his hands on him, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me, that you may receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
18 Yommusuma wanni akka qolaa ija Saaʼol irraa harcaʼe; inni ammas arguu dandaʼe. Kaʼees cuuphame.
Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was baptized.
19 Nyaatas nyaatee jajjabaate. Saaʼol bultii gabaabduudhaaf barattoota Damaasqoo jiran bira bubbule.
He took food and was strengthened. He stayed several days with the disciples who were at Damascus.
20 Innis akka Yesuus ilma Waaqaa taʼe yeruma sana manneen sagadaa keessatti lallabuu jalqabe.
Immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, that he is the Son of God.
21 Warri isa dhagaʼan hundinuus dinqifatanii akkana jedhan; “Namichi kun isuma Yerusaalem keessatti warra maqaa kana waammatan balleesse sana mitii? Ammas hidhee luboota hangafootatti isaan geessuuf dhufe mitii?”
All who heard him were amazed, and said, "Is not this he who in Jerusalem made havoc of those who called on this name? And he had come here intending to bring them bound before the chief priests."
22 Saaʼol garuu ittuma jabaachaa deeme; innis akka Yesuus kun Kiristoos taʼe mirkaneessuudhaan Yihuudoota Damaasqoo keessa jiraatan afaan qabachiise.
But Saul increased more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.
23 Erga guyyaan hedduun darbee booddees Yihuudoonni isa ajjeesuuf mariʼatan.
When many days were fulfilled, the Jews conspired together to kill him,
24 Saaʼol garuu marii isaanii kana beeke; isaanis isa ajjeesuuf jedhanii halkanii guyyaa balbala magaalaa sanaa jabeessanii eegaa turan.
but their plot became known to Saul. They watched the gates both day and night that they might kill him,
25 Barattoonni isaa garuu halkaniin fuudhanii guuboodhaan dallaa irraan dabarsanii gad isa buusan.
but his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.
26 Innis yommuu gara Yerusaalem dhufetti barattootatti dabalamuu yaale; isaanis waan barataa taʼuu isaa hin amaniniif hundi isaanii isa sodaatan.
When Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
27 Barnaabaas immoo fuudhee ergamootatti isa geesse; akka Saaʼol itti karaatti gooftaa arge, akka itti gooftaan isatti dubbatee fi akka inni sodaa malee Damaasqoo keessatti maqaa Yesuusiitiin lallabe isaanitti hime.
But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.
28 Saaʼolis isaan wajjin jiraatee Yerusaalem keessa sodaa malee baʼee galaa ture; maqaa Gooftaatiinis ija jabinaan lallabe.
He was with them coming in and going out in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.
29 Yihuudoota Giriikota keessa jiraatan wajjinis dubbachaa isaaniinis morkachaa ture; isaan garuu isa ajjeesuu barbaadan.
He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, but they were seeking to kill him.
30 Obboloonnis yommuu waan kana beekanitti fuudhanii Qiisaariyaatti gad isa buusan; gara Xarsees isa ergan.
When the brothers knew it, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.
31 Kanaafis waldaan kiristaanaa Yihuudaa, Galiilaa fi Samaariyaa keessa jirtu guutummaatti nagaa argatte; ni cimtes. Isheenis Hafuura Qulqulluudhaan jajjabaatee sodaa Gooftaatiin jiraachuudhaan baayʼinaan guddachaa deemte.
So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, and were built up. They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
32 Phexros utuu biyya sana keessa naannaʼaa jiruu qulqulloota Liidaa keessa jiraatan ilaaluuf gad buʼe.
It happened, as Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.
33 Achittis namicha laamshaʼaa Eeniyaa jedhamu kan waggaa saddeeti siree irratti hafee ture tokko arge.
There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, because he was paralyzed.
34 Phexrosis, “Yaa Eeniyaa, Yesuus Kiristoos si fayyisa; kaʼiitii siree kee afadhu” jedheen. Eeniyaanis yommusuma kaʼe.
Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed." Immediately he arose.
35 Namoonni Liidaa fi Shaaroon keessa jiraatan hundinuu isa arganii Gooftaatti deebiʼan.
All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.
36 Yoophee keessas barattuu Xaabiitaa jedhamtu tokkotu ture; Xaabiitaa jechuun Doorqaa jechuu dha. Isheenis yeroo hunda waan gaarii hojjetti; hiyyeeyyiis ni gargaarti turte.
Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha (which when translated, means Dorcas). This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.
37 Isheenis baruma sana keessa dhukkubsattee duute; reeffa ishees dhiqanii kutaa darbii tokko keessa kaaʼan.
It happened in those days that she fell sick, and died. When they had washed her, they placed her in an upper chamber.
38 Liidaan kun Yoopheetti dhiʼoo turte; barattoonnis yommuu akka Phexros Liidaa jiru dhagaʼanitti nama lama isatti erganii, “Maaloo dafii nu bira gaʼi!” jedhanii isa kadhatan.
As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to us.
39 Phexrosis kaʼee isaan wajjin deeme; akkuma inni achi gaʼeenis gara kutaa darbii sanaatti isa geessan. Haadhonni hiyyeessaa hundinuu isa bira dhaabatanii kootii fi wayyaa biraa kan Doorqaan yeroo isaan wajjin turte hojjette sana isatti argisiisanii booʼaa turan.
Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
40 Phexrosis hunda isaanii gad baasee jilbeenfatee Waaqa kadhate; reeffa sanattis garagalee, “Xaabiitaa kaʼi!” jedhe. Isheenis ija ishee banattee Phexrosin argite; kaatees ni teesse.
Peter put them all out, and kneeled down and prayed. Turning to the body, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 Innis harka qabee ishee kaase; amantootaa fi haadhota hiyyeessaa waamee jiraattuu taatee isaan fuuldura dhaabe.
He gave her his hand, and raised her up. Calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.
42 Kunis Yoophee hunda keessatti beekame; namoonni baayʼeenis Gooftaatti amanan.
And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.
43 Phexrosis Yoophee keessa gogaa duugduu Simoon jedhamu tokko bira guyyaa hedduu ture.
It happened, that he stayed many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.
