1 Kana booddee Phaawulos Ateenaa kaʼee Qorontos dhaqe.
After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.
2 Achittis Yihuudii Aqiilaa jedhamu kan biyya Phonxoositti dhalate tokko argate; Aqiilaan kunis sababii Qilaawudewoos akka Yihuudoonni hundinuu biyya Roomaa keessaa baʼan ajajeef dhiʼoo niitii isaa Phirisqilaa wajjin Iixaaliyaadhaa dhufe. Phaawulosis isaan ilaaluu dhaqe.
He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them,
3 Innis waan akkuma isaanii hojjetaa dunkaanaa tureef achi jiraatee isaan wajjin hojjete.
and because he practised the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.
4 Guyyaa Sanbataa hundas mana sagadaa keessatti falmee Yihuudootaa fi Giriikota amansiisa ture.
He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.
5 Phaawulos yeroo Siilaasii fi Xiimotewos Maqedooniyaadhaa dhufanitti akka Yesuus kun Kiristoos taʼe Yihuudootaaf dhugaa baʼaa dubbicha lallabuutti ni jabaata ture.
When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.
6 Yommuu Yihuudoonni isaan mormanii isa arrabsanittis garuu Phaawulos uffata isaa hurgufatee, “Dhiigni keessan matuma keessan irra haa jiraatu! Ani qulqulluu dha; ammaa jalqabee gara Namoota Ormaa nan dhaqa” jedheen.
When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”
7 Innis achii baʼee mana namicha Waaqa waaqeffatu kan maqaan isaa Tiitoo jedhamu tokkoo dhaqe; manni namicha sanaas mana sagadaatti aana ture.
He departed there and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshipped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
8 Kiriisphoos bulchaan mana sagadaa sanaas warra mana isaa jiraatan hunda wajjin Gooftaatti amane; namoota Qorontos kanneen Phaawulosin dhagaʼan keessaa baayʼeen isaanii amananii cuuphaman.
Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptised.
9 Halkan tokko Gooftaan akkana jedhee mulʼataan Phaawulositti dubbate; “Hin sodaatin; dubbadhu malees hin calʼisin.
The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, “Don’t be afraid, but speak and don’t be silent;
10 Sababii ani si wajjin jiruuf namni tokko iyyuu si miidhuuf jedhee si hin tuqu; ani magaalaa kana keessaa nama baayʼee qabaatii.”
for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”
11 Kanaafuu Phaawulos dubbii Waaqaa isaan barsiisaa waggaa tokkoo fi walakkaa achi ture.
He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God amongst them.
12 Yeroo Gaaliyoon bulchaa Akaayaa turetti Yihuudoonni tokkummaadhaan Phaawulositti kaʼanii mana murtiitti isa dhiʼeessan.
But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgement seat,
13 Isaanis, “Namichi kun akka isaan karaa seeraan ala taʼeen Waaqa waaqeffataniif namoota sossobaa jira” jedhanii isa himatan.
saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”
14 Utuu Phaawulos dubbachuuf jedhee afaan banachuutti jiruu Gaaliyoon Yihuudootaan akkana jedhe; “Yaa Yihuudoota, utuu dubbiin kun waaʼee balleessaa hojjechuu yookaan waaʼee yakka guddaa taʼee ani silaa obsaan isinan dhagaʼa ture.
But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you;
15 Gaaffiin keessan garuu waan waaʼee jechootaa, waaʼee maqaawwaniitii fi waaʼee seera keessanii taʼeef kana isinuu fixadhaa; ani waan akkanaatiif abbaa murtii hin taʼuutii.”
but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”
16 Kanaafuu mana murtii keessaa gad isaan baase.
So he drove them from the judgement seat.
17 Isaan hundi bulchaa mana sagadaa sanatti jechuunis Soosteenesitti garagalanii fuula mana murtii duratti isa tumuu jalqaban. Wanni kun garuu xinnuma illee Gaaliyoo hin yaaddessine.
Then all the Greeks seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgement seat. Gallio didn’t care about any of these things.
18 Phaawulos yeroo muraasa Qorontos keessa ture. Ergasiis obboloota biraa deemee Phirisqilaa fi Aqiilaa wajjin dooniidhaan Sooriyaa dhaqe; innis waan wareega qabuuf utuu hin deemin Kanchireʼaatti mataa haaddate.
Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.
19 Phaawulosis yeroo Efesoon gaʼanitti Phirisqilaa fi Aqiilaa achitti dhiisee ofii isaatii garuu mana sagadaa seenee Yihuudootaan mormaa ture.
He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
20 Yommuu isaan akka inni yeroo dheeraa isaan bira turu kadhatanitti immoo dhagaʼuu dide.
When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined;
21 Garuu akkuma isaan biraa deemeen, “Yoo Waaqni jedhe ani deebiʼee nan dhufa” jedheen; dooniidhaanis Efesoonii kaʼee deeme.
but taking his leave of them, he said, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.
22 Innis Qiisaariyaa geenyaan ol baʼee waldaa kiristaanaa dubbise; ergasiis Anxookiiyaatti gad buʼe.
When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch.
23 Phaawulos erga Anxookiiyaa keessa takka bubbulee booddee achii kaʼee barattoota hunda jajjabeessaa biyya Galaatiyaatii fi Firiigiyaa hunda keessa iddoo tokko irraa iddoo kaanitti nanaannaʼaa ture.
Having spent some time there, he departed and went through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
24 Gidduudhuma sana Yihuudiin Iskindiriyaatti dhalate kan Apholoos jedhamu tokko gara Efesoon dhufe; innis nama arraba qajeelu, kan Katabbiiwwan Qulqulluu gad fageenyaan beeku ture.
Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.
25 Namichi kun duraan karaa Gooftaa baratee ture; inni yoo cuuphaa Yohannis qofa beeke illee hafuura hoʼaadhaan waaʼee Yesuus qajeelchee dubbachaa, barsiisaas ture.
This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.
26 Mana sagadaa keessattis sodaa malee dubbachuu jalqabe; Phirisqilaa fi Aqiilaanis yommuu isa dhagaʼanitti mana isaaniitti isa waamanii karaa Waaqaa isa duraa caalaatti sirriitti addeessaniif.
He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
27 Yeroo Apholoos Akaayaa dhaquu barbaadetti obboloonni isa jajjabeessanii akka barattoonni achi jiran sun isa simataniif xalayaa barreessaniif. Innis achi gaʼee warra ayyaana Waaqaatiin amananii turaniif gargaarsa guddaa taʼe.
When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him; and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;
28 Inni akka Yesuus kun Kiristoos taʼe Katabbiiwwan Qulqulluudhaan mirkaneessaa, jabaatee ifaan ifatti Yihuudootaan mormee amansiisaa tureetii.
for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
