1 Kanaafuu yaa ilma ko, ayyaana Kiristoos Yesuusiin jabaadhu.
Yoʋ then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 Waan fuula dhuga baatota baayʼee duratti narraa dhageesse sana namoota amanamoo kanneen warra kaan barsiisuu dandaʼanitti imaanaa kenni.
Entrust what yoʋ have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses to faithful men who will be competent to teach others also.
3 Atis akkuma loltuu jabaa kan Kiristoos Yesuusiitti nu wajjin dhiphadhu.
Endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 Namni loltummaan tajaajilu kam iyyuu ajajaa isaa gammachiisuu yaala malee dhimma jireenyaatiin of hin xaxu.
No one serving as a soldier entangles himself in the affairs of civilian life, since he seeks to please the one who enlisted him.
5 Akkasumas dorgomaan tokko yoo akka malutti dorgome malee gonfoo hin argatu.
Similarly, an athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
6 Qonnaan bulaan jabaatee hojjetus ija qooddachuutti nama jalqabaa taʼuu qaba.
The hardworking farmer ought to receive the first share of the crops.
7 Waan ani sitti himu kana qalbeeffadhu; Gooftaan waan hunda keessatti hubannaa siif kennaatii.
Think about what I am saying. May the Lord give yoʋ understanding in everything.
8 Yesuus Kiristoos isa warra duʼan keessaa kaafame, isa sanyii Daawit irraa dhalate yaadadhu. Kun wangeela koo
Remember Jesus Christ, the offspring of David, who was raised from the dead according to my gospel.
9 kan ani isaaf jedhee akka nama yakka hojjete tokkootti hamma foncaan hidhamuutti dhiphachaafii jiruu dha. Dubbiin Waaqaa garuu hin hidhamu.
For this gospel I suffer to the point of being chained like a criminal, but the word of God is not chained.
10 Kanaafuu akka warri filataman fayyina Kiristoos Yesuusiin taʼe sana ulfina bara baraa wajjin argataniif ani isaaniif jedhee waan hundumaa nan obsa. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the chosen, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
11 Dubbichi amanamaan akkana jedha: Nu isa wajjin yoo duune, isa wajjin ni jiraanna;
This saying is trustworthy: If we died with him, we will also live with him;
12 nu yoo obsine, isa wajjin ni moona. Nu yoo isa ganne, innis nu gana.
if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us;
13 Nu yoo amanamoo taʼuu baanne, inni amanamaa taʼee jiraata; inni of ganuu hin dandaʼuutii.
if we are unfaithful, he remains faithful; he cannot deny himself.
14 Wantoota kanneen isaan yaadachiisi; waaʼee jechootaatiinis akka wal hin lolleef fuula Waaqaa duratti isaan akeekkachiisi; wanni akkasii warra dhagaʼan ni diiga malee waa tokko illee hin fayyaduutii.
Remind the people of these things, solemnly charging them before the Lord not to quarrel about words, which does no good but only leads to the ruin of those who are listening.
15 Atis dubbii dhugaa sana sirriitti qabachuudhaan hojjetaa qoratamee fudhatame kan itti hin qaanofne taʼiitii fuula Waaqaa duratti of dhiʼeessuuf tattaaffadhu.
Be diligent to present yoʋrself to God as a proven worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly teaches the word of truth.
16 Garuu dubbii faayidaa hin qabne irraa fagaadhu; dubbiin akkasii ittuma caalchisee nama Waaqaa taʼuu irraa nama fageessaatii.
Avoid profane chatter, for those who engage in such talk will stray further and further into ungodliness,
17 Barsiisni isaaniis akka dhukkuba gaangiriinii babalʼachaa deema. Himenewoosii fi Filexoosis isaan keessatti argamu;
and their message will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
18 isaanis duʼaa kaʼuun taʼee darbeera jechuudhaan dhugaa irraa fagaataniiru. Amantii namoota tokko tokkoos ni balleessu.
who have strayed from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already happened. They are undermining the faith of some.
19 Garuu hundeen Waaqaa hin sochoofamne kan chaappaa, “Gooftaan warra kan isaa taʼan ni beeka,” akkanumas “Namni maqaa Gooftaa waammatu hundi hammina irraa haa deebiʼu” jedhuun chaappeffame jabaatee dhaabateera.
Nevertheless, the foundation of God stands firm, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord must depart from unrighteousness.”
20 Mana guddaa tokko keessa miʼa warqeetii fi meetii qofa utuu hin taʼin, miʼi mukaatii fi suphees jira; kana keessaas tokko tokko ulfinaaf, kaan immoo salphinaaf oola.
Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for honorable use and some for dishonorable use.
21 Namni tokko yoo salphina kana irraa of qulqulleesse, inni miʼa ulfinaa kan qulqulleeffame, kan Gooftaa isaa fayyaduu fi kan hojii gaarii kam iyyuu hojjechuuf qopheeffame taʼa.
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master, and prepared for every good work.
22 Atis hawwii hamaa yeroo dargaggummaa irraa baqadhu; warra garaa qulqulluun Gooftaa waammatan wajjin qajeelummaa, amantii, jaalalaa fi nagaa duukaa buʼi.
Flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.
23 Falmii faayidaa hin qabnee fi gowwummaa keessa hin seenin; kun akka lola fidu atuu ni beektaatii.
Have nothing to do with foolish and ignorant controversies, knowing that they breed quarrels.
24 Garbichi Gooftaa kan nama hundumaaf garaa laafu, kan barsiisuu dandaʼuu fi obsa qabeessa taʼuu qaba malee kan namaan wal lolu taʼuu hin qabu.
A servant of the Lord ought not to quarrel, but to be kind to everyone, able to teach, and patient,
25 Innis akka Waaqni qalbii jijjiirrannaa gara dhugaa beekuutti isaan geessu isaaniif kennu abdachaa warra isaan morman garraamummaan sirreessuu qaba;
instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth.
26 akkasiinis isaan qalbii horatanii kiyyoo diiyaabiloos kan akka isaan fedhii isaa guutaniif isaan boojiʼe sana jalaa baʼu.
Then they will come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
