1 Bara mootummaa Yerobiʼaam mooticha Israaʼel keessa waggaa digdamii torbaffaatti, Azaariyaa ilmi Amasiyaa mooticha Yihuudaa sanaa mootii taʼe.

In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam, the king of Israel: Azariah, the son of Amaziah, reigned as king of Judah.

2 Inni yeroo mootii taʼetti nama waggaa kudha jaʼa ture; innis Yerusaalem keessa taaʼee waggaa shantamii lama ni bulche. Maqaan haadha isaa Yekooliyaa ture; isheenis nama Yerusaalem turte.

He was sixteen years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

3 Innis akkuma abbaa isaa Amasiyaa sana fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan qajeelaa ni hojjete.

And he did what was pleasing before the Lord, in accord with all that his father, Amaziah, did.

4 Taʼus iddoowwan sagadaa kanneen gaarran irraa hin diigamne ture; namoonni ittuma fufanii aarsaa dhiʼeessaa, ixaanas achitti aarsaa turan.

Yet truly, he did not demolish the high places. And still the people were sacrificing, and burning incense, in the high places.

5 Waaqayyos hamma gaafa inni duʼeetti mooticha lamxiidhaan dhaʼe; innis mana kophaa keessa ni jiraate. Yootaam ilmi mootichaa itti gaafatama masaraa mootummaa fudhatee saba biyyattii bulche.

Now the Lord struck the king, and he became a leper, even until the day of his death. And he was living in a separate house by himself. And truly, Jotham, the son of the king, governed the palace, and he judged the people of the land.

6 Wantoonni bara mootummaa Azaariyaa keessa hojjetaman kan biraatii fi wanni inni hojjete hundi kitaaba seenaa mootota Yihuudaa keessatti barreeffamaniiru mitii?

7 Azaariyaa abbootii isaa wajjin boqotee isaanuma biratti Magaalaa Daawit keessatti ni awwaalame. Ilmi isaa Yootaam iddoo isaa buʼee mootii taʼe.

And Azariah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his ancestors in the city of David. And Jotham, his son, reigned in his place.

8 Bara mootummaa Azaariyaa mooticha Yihuudaa keessa waggaa soddomii saddeettaffaatti Zakkaariyaas ilmi Yerobiʼaam Samaariyaa keessatti mootii Israaʼel taʼee jiʼa jaʼa bulche.

In the thirty-eighth year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Zechariah, the son of Jeroboam, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for six months.

9 Innis akkuma abbaan isaa hojjete sana fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan hamaa hojjete. Inni cubbuu Yerobiʼaam ilma Nebaat kan inni akka warri Israaʼel hojjetan godhe sana irraa hin deebine.

And he did what is evil before the Lord, just as his fathers had done. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

10 Shaluum ilmi Yaabeesh sun Zakkaariyaasitti kaʼee fuuluma sabaa duratti isa ajjeesee iddoo isaa qabatee mootii taʼe.

Then Shallum, the son of Jabesh, conspired against him. And he struck him openly, and killed him. And he reigned in his place.

11 Wantoonni bara mootummaa Zakkaariyaas keessa hojjetaman kanneen biraa kitaaba seenaa mootota Israaʼel keessatti barreeffamaniiru mitii?

Now the rest of the words of Zechariah, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

12 Akkasiinis dubbiin Waaqayyoo kan inni “Sanyiiwwan kee hamma dhaloota Afuraffaatti teessoo Israaʼel irra ni taaʼu” jedhee Yehuutti dubbate sun ni raawwatame.

This was the word of the Lord, which he spoke to Jehu, saying: “Your sons, even to the fourth generation, shall sit upon the throne of Israel.” And so it happened.

13 Shaluum ilmi Yaabeesh bara mootummaa Uziyaan mooticha Yihuudaa keessa waggaa soddomii saglaffaatti Samaariyaa keessatti mootii Israaʼel taʼee jiʼa tokko bulche.

Shallum, the son of Jabesh, reigned in the thirty-ninth year of Azariah, the king of Judah. And he reigned for one month, in Samaria.

14 Menaaheem ilmi Gaadiis Tiirzaadhaa kaʼee Samaariyaa dhaqe. Innis Shaluum ilma Yaabeesh sana lolee Samaariyaa keessatti ajjeesee iddoo isaa buʼee mootii taʼe.

And Menahem, the son of Gadi, ascended from Tirzah. And he went into Samaria, and he struck Shallum, the son of Jabesh, in Samaria. And he killed him, and reigned in his place.

15 Wantoonni bara mootummaa Shaluum keessa hojjetaman biraatii fi fincilli inni hojjete kitaaba seenaa mootota Israaʼel keessatti barreeffamaniiru.

Now the rest of the words of Shallum, and his conspiracy, by which he carried out treachery, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Israel?

16 Yeroo sanatti, Menaaheem Tiirzaa kaʼee Tiifsaa fi warra magaalaa sana keessaa fi naannoo ishee jiraatu hunda dhaʼe; kunis sababii isaan karra banuufii didaniif. Innis Tiifsaa saamee dubartoota ulfa qaban hunda garaa baqaqse.

Then Menahem struck Tirzah, and all who were in it, and its borders around Tirzah. For they were not willing to open to him. And he killed all of its pregnant women, and he tore them open.

17 Bara Azaariyaa mooticha Yihuudaa keessa waggaa soddomii saglaffaatti Menaaheem ilmi Gaadii mootii Israaʼel taʼe; innis Samaariyaa keessa jiraatee waggaa kudhan bulche.

In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Menahem, son of Gadi, reigned over Israel for ten years, in Samaria.

18 Innis fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan hamaa hojjete. Bara biyya bulchaa ture guutuus cubbuu Yerobiʼaam ilma Nebaat kan inni akka Israaʼel hojjetu godhe sana irraa hin deebine.

And he did what was evil before the Lord. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, during all his days.

19 Ergasiis Phuuli mootichi Asoor biyyattiitti ni duule; Menaaheem immoo akka gargaarsa isaa argate aangoo ofii isaa jalatti mootummaa turfatuuf meetii taalaantii kuma tokko kenneef.

Then Pul, the king of the Assyrians, came into the land. And Menahem gave Pul one thousand talents of silver, so that he would be a help to him, and so that he might strengthen his kingdom.

20 Menaaheem maallaqa kana warruma Israaʼel baasise. Akka mootii Asooriif kennamuuf namni sooressi kam iyyuu meetii saqilii shantama baasuu qaba. Kanaafuu mootiin Asoor duubatti deebiʼee malee ergasii biyyattii keessa hin turre.

And Menahem proclaimed a tax upon Israel, on all who were powerful and wealthy, so that each one would give to the king of the Assyrians fifty shekels of silver. Then the king of the Assyrians turned back, and he did not remain in the land.

22 Menaaheemis abbootii isaa wajjin boqote. Ilmi isaa Pheqaayaan iddoo isaa buʼee mootii taʼe.

And Menahem slept with his fathers. And Pekahiah, his son, reigned in his place.

23 Bara Azaariyaa mooticha Yihuudaa keessa waggaa shantammaffaatti Pheqaayaan ilmi Menaaheem Samaariyaa keessatti mootii Israaʼel taʼee waggaa lama bulche.

In the fiftieth year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Pekahiah, the son of Menahem, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for two years.

24 Pheqaayaan fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan hamaa hojjete. Inni cubbuu Yerobiʼaam ilma Nebaat kan inni akka Israaʼel hojjetu godhe sana irraa hin deebine.

And he did what was evil before the Lord. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

25 Ajajjoota isaa ol aantota keessaa Pheqaan ilmi Remaaliyaa isatti malate. Innis namoota Giliʼaad keessaa nama shantama fudhatee fiixee masaraa mootummaa kan Samaariyaa keessaa irratti Pheqaayaa, Argobbii fi Ariyyee ajjeese. Pheqaanis akkasiin Pheqaayaa ajjeesee iddoo isaa mootii taʼe.

Then Pekah, the son of Remaliah, his commander, conspired against him. And he struck him in Samaria, in the tower of the king’s house, near Argob and Arieh, and with him fifty men from the sons of the Gileadites. And he killed him, and reigned in his place.

27 Bara Azaariyaa mooticha Yihuudaa keessaa waggaa shantamii lammaffaatti, Pheqaan ilmi Remaaliyaa Samaariyaa keessatti mootii Israaʼel taʼee waggaa digdama bulche.

In the fifty-second year of Azariah, the king of Judah: Pekah, the son of Remaliah, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for twenty years.

28 Innis fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan hamaa hojjete. Cubbuu Yerobiʼaam ilma Nebaat kan inni akka Israaʼel hojjetu godhe sana irraa hin deebine.

And he did what was evil before the Lord. He did not withdraw from the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

29 Bara Pheqaa mooticha Israaʼel keessa Tiiglaat Phileeser mootichi Asoor dhufee Iiyoon, Abeel Beet Maʼaakaa, Yaanoʼaa, Qaadeshii fi Haazoor, Giliʼaadii fi Galiilaa, biyya Niftaalem hundas walumatti qabatee namootas guuree Asooritti geesse.

In the days of Pekah, the king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser, the king of Assyria, arrived and captured Ijon, and Abel Bethmaacah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, and the entire land of Naphtali. And he took them away into Assyria.

30 Ergasiis Hoosheeʼaa ilmi Eelaa, Pheqaa ilma Remaaliyaatti malate. Innis lolee isa ajjeesee bara mootummaa Yootaam ilma Uziyaan keessaa waggaa digdammaffaatti iddoo isaa mootii taʼe.

Then Hoshea, the son of Elah, conspired and carried out treachery against Pekah, the son of Remaliah. And he struck him, and killed him. And he reigned in his place, in the twentieth year of Jotham, the son of Uzziah.

31 Wanni bara mootummaa Pheqaa keessa hojjetame biraa fi wanni inni hojjete hundi kitaaba seenaa mootota Israaʼel keessatti barreeffameera mitii?

32 Bara Pheqaa ilma Remaaliyaa mooticha Israaʼel keessa waggaa lammaffaatti Yootaam ilmi Uziyaan mooticha Yihuudaa mootii taʼee bulchuu jalqabe.

In the second year of Pekah, the son of Remaliah, the king of Israel: Jotham, son of Uzziah, reigned as king of Judah.

33 Inni yeroo mootii taʼetti nama waggaa digdamii shan ture; Yerusaalem keessa taaʼee waggaa kudha jaʼa ni bulche. Maqaan haadha isaa Yaruusaa ture; isheenis intala Zaadoq turte.

He was twenty-five years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jerusha, the daughter of Zadok.

34 Innis akkuma abbaan isaa Uziyaan godhe sana fuula Waaqayyoo duratti waan qajeelaa ni hojjete.

And he did what was pleasing before the Lord. In accord with all that his father, Uzziah, had done, so he did.

35 Taʼus iddoowwan sagadaa kanneen gaarran irraa hin diigamne ture. Namoonnis ittuma fufanii aarsaa dhiʼeessaa ixaanas achitti aarsaa turan. Yootaam Karra mana qulqullummaa Waaqayyoo kan Ol aanu deebisee ijaare.

Yet truly, he did not take away the high places. And still the people were immolating, and burning incense, in the high places. But he edified the gate of the house of the Lord to be very sublime.

36 Wantoonni bara mootummaa Yootaam keessaa hojjetaman kanneen biraatii fi wantoonni inni hojjete kitaaba seenaa mootota Yihuudaa keessatti barreeffameera mitii?

Now the rest of the words of Jotham, and all that he did, have these not been written in the book of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?

37 Bara sana keessa Waaqayyo Reziin mooticha Sooriyaatii fi Pheqaa ilma Remaaliyaa Yihuudaatti kakaasuu jalqabe.

In those days, the Lord began to send, into Judah, Rezin, the king of Syria, and Pekah, the son of Remaliah.

38 Yootaam abbootii isaa wajjin boqotee Magaalaa Daawit, magaalaa abbaa isaa keessatti isaanuma biratti ni awwaalame. Ilmi isaa Aahaaz iddoo isaa buʼee mootii taʼe.

And Jotham slept with his fathers, and he was buried with them in the city of David, his father. And Ahaz, his son, reigned in his place.
