1 Yosiyaas Yerusaalemitti Waaqayyoof Faasiikaa ayyaanesse; hoolaan Faasiikaas guyyaa kudha afuraffaa jiʼa jalqabaatti qalame.
Now Josiah kept the Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem, and it was immolated on the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Innis luboota hojii isaanii irratti muudee akka isaan mana qulqullummaa Waaqayyoo keessa tajaajilan isaan jajjabeesse.
And he appointed the priests in their offices, and he exhorted them to minister in the house of the Lord.
3 Lewwota Israaʼeloota hunda barsiisanii fi Waaqayyoof qulqullaaʼaniinis akkana jedhe; “Taabota qulqullaaʼaa sana mana qulqullummaa kan Solomoon ilmi Daawit mooticha Israaʼel ijaare keessa kaaʼaa. Also, he spoke with the Levites, by whose instruction all of Israel was sanctified to the Lord, saying: “Place the ark in the sanctuary of the temple, which Solomon, the son of David, the king of Israel, built. For never again shall you carry it. Instead, now you shall minister to the Lord your God, and to his people Israel.
4 Akkuma qajeelfama Daawit mooticha Israaʼelii fi ilma isaa Solomooniin barreeffame sanaatti isin akkuma maatiiwwan keessaniitti garee gareedhaan of qopheessaa.
And prepare yourselves by your houses and families, within each division, just as David, the king of Israel, instructed, and just as his son Solomon has written.
5 “Kutaa maatiiwwan obboloota keessanii kanneen Lewwota hin taʼiniitiif gareen Lewwotaa tokko kutaa maatii tokkoo iddoo buʼaatii iddoo qulqulluu dhaabadhaa.
And minister in the sanctuary, by the Levitical families and companies.
6 Hoolaa Faasiikaa qalaa; of qulqulleessaatii obboloota keessaniifis xobbaallaawwan hoolaa qopheessaa; waan kanas akkuma Waaqayyo karaa Museetiin ajaje sanatti godhaa.”
And having been sanctified, immolate the Passover. And then prepare your brothers, so that they may be able to act in accord with the words which the Lord has spoken by the hand of Moses.”
7 Yosiyaasis hoolotaa fi reʼoota kuma soddomaa fi loon kuma sadii akka aarsaa Faasiikaa taʼaniif namoota achi turan hundaaf qabeenyuma isaa irraa ni kenne.
After this, Josiah gave to all the people, those who had been found there at the solemnity of the Passover, thirty thousand lambs and young goats from the flocks, and other kinds of small cattle, and also three thousand oxen. All these were from the substance of the king.
8 Qondaaltonni isaas uummataaf, lubootaa fi Lewwotaaf fedhiidhaan buusii kennan. Hilqiyaa, Zakkaariyaasii fi Yehiiʼeel bulchitoonni mana qulqullummaa Waaqaa aarsaa Faasiikaatiif hoolotaa fi reʼoota kuma lamaa dhibba jaʼaa fi loon dhibba sadii lubootatti kennan.
Also, his rulers offered what they had vowed freely, as much for the people as for the priests and Levites. Moreover, Hilkiah, and Zechariah, and Jehiel, rulers of the house of the Lord, gave to the priests, in order to observe the Passover, two thousand six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
9 Konaneyaanis obboloota isaa Shemaaʼiyaa fi Naatnaaʼel wajjin, akkasumas Hashabiyaan, Yeʼiiʼeelii fi Yoozaabaad dura buutonni Lewwotaa sun hoolotaa fi reʼoota kuma shanii fi loon dhibba shan akka isaan aarsaa Faasiikaa taʼaniif Lewwotatti ni kennan.
And Conaniah, with Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brothers, indeed also Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, rulers of the Levites, gave to the rest of the Levites, in order to celebrate the Passover, five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
10 Wanni hundinuu qopheeffamnaan akkuma mootichi ajaje sanatti luboonni iddoo isaanii ijaajjan; Lewwonnis toora isaaniitiin ijaajjan.
And the ministry was prepared. And the priests stood in their office, and the Levites also stood in their companies, according to the order of the king.
11 Hoolonni Faasiikaa ni qalaman; luboonnis dhiiga itti kenname ni faffacaasan; Lewwonni immoo hoolota irraa gogaa ni baasan.
And the Passover was immolated. And the priests sprinkled the blood with their hand, and the Levites drew away the pelts of the holocausts.
12 Isaanis akka jarri akkuma Kitaaba Musee keessatti barreeffame sanatti Waaqayyoof dhiʼeessaniif kutaa maatiiwwan sabaatiif kennuudhaaf aarsaa gubamu kophaatti baasan. Loon illee akkasuma godhan.
And they put these aside, so that they might give them to each one, by their houses and families, and so that they might be offered to the Lord, just as it was written in the book of Moses. And with the oxen, they acted similarly.
13 Akkuma ajajame sanattis hoolaa Faasiikaa ibiddaan waadan; aarsaa qulqulleeffame immoo okkoteetti, hubboo fi xuwweetti affeelanii yoosuma namoota hundaaf qoqqoodan.
And they roasted the Passover above fire, in accord with what was written in the law. Yet truly, the victims of peace offerings they boiled in cauldrons and kettles and pots. And they promptly distributed these to all the common people.
14 Isaanis ergasii sababii luboonni sanyiin Aroon hamma halkan walakkaatti aarsaa gubamuu fi cooma aarsaa dhiʼeessaa turaniif ofii isaaniitii fi lubootaaf qophii godhan. Akkasiin Lewwonni ofii isaaniitii fi luboota sanyii Aroon taʼaniif qopheessan.
Then afterward, they made preparations for themselves and for the priests. Indeed, the priests had been occupied in the oblations of the holocausts and the fat offerings, even until night. Therefore, the Levites made preparations for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron, last.
15 Ilmaan Asaaf faarfattoonni akkuma Daawit, Asaaf, Heemaanii fi Yeduutuun waa himaan mootichaa ajajan sana iddoodhuma isaaniif ramadame turan. Eegdonni karraa kanneen tokkoo tokkoo karraa irra turan immoo waan obboloota isaanii Lewwonni qophii isaaniif godhaniif iddoo isaaniitii deemuun hin barbaachifne.
Now the singers, the sons of Asaph, were standing in their order, according to the instruction of David, and of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, the prophets of the king. Truly, the porters kept watch at each gate, so as not to depart from their ministry even for one moment. And for this reason, their brothers, the Levites, prepared foods for them.
16 Kanaafuu tajaajilli Waaqayyoo hundinuu akkuma Yosiyaas Mootichi ajajetti ayyaana Faasiikaa ayyaanessuu fi iddoo aarsaa Waaqayyoo irratti aarsaa gubamu dhiʼeessuun guyyuma sana fiixaan baʼe.
And so, the entire worship ritual of the Lord was completed on that day, so that they observed the Passover and offered holocausts upon the altar of the Lord, in accord with the precept of king Josiah.
17 Israaʼeloonni achi turanis yeruma sana Ayyaana Faasiikaa ayyaaneffatanii Ayyaana Maxinoo guyyaa torba ayyaaneffatan.
And the sons of Israel, who had been found there, kept the Passover at that time, with the solemnity of unleavened bread, for seven days.
18 Bara Saamuʼeel raajichaatii as Israaʼel keessatti Faasiikaan takkumaa akkanatti hin ayyaaneffamne; mootota Israaʼel keessaas namni tokko iyyuu takkumaa akka Yosiyaas namicha luboota, Lewwotaa fi namoota Yihuudaa fi Israaʼel kanneen saba Yerusaalem wajjin turan sana hunda wajjin godhe sanaatti Faasiikaa akkasii hin ayyaaneffanne.
There was no Passover similar to this one in Israel, from the days of Samuel the prophet. And neither did anyone, out of all the kings of Israel, keep such a Passover as did Josiah, the priests and Levites, and all those of Judah and Israel who had been found, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 Faasiikaan kun bara mootummaa Yosiyaas keessaa waggaa kudha saddeettaffaatti ayyaaneffame.
In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah, this Passover was celebrated.
20 Waan kana hunda booddee yeroo Yosiyaas mana qulqullummaa qopheessetti Nekkoon mootichi Gibxi Karkemiishi ishee Efraaxiis biraa sanatti lolaaf ol baʼe; Yosiyaasis of irraa isa deebisuudhaaf itti gad baʼe.
After Josiah had repaired the temple, Neco, the king of Egypt, ascended to fight at Carchemish, beside the Euphrates. And Josiah went out to meet him.
21 Nekkoon garuu, “Yaa mootii Yihuudaa, wanni anaa fi siʼi wal lolchiisu maali? Ani yeroo kanatti mana na lolu sana loluufin dhufe malee si loluuf hin dhufne. Waaqni akka ani ariifadhu na ajajeera; kanaafuu ati Waaqa na wajjin jiru kanaan mormuu dhiisi; yoo kanaa achii inni si balleessaatii” jedhee namoota itti erge.
But he sent messengers to him, saying: “What is there between me and you, O king of Judah? I have not come against you today. Instead, I am fighting against another house, to which God instructed me to go promptly. Refrain from acting against God, who is with me, otherwise he may kill you.”
22 Taʼus Yosiyaas eenyumaa ofii isaa wallaalchifatee lola keessa seene malee isa irraa hin deebine. Inni waan Nekkoon Waaqaan ajajamee isatti hime sana dhagaʼuu didee dirree Megidoo irratti isa waraanuudhaaf baʼe.
Josiah was not willing to return. Instead, he prepared for war against him. Neither would he agree to the words of Neco from the mouth of God. In truth, he traveled so that he might do battle in the field of Megiddo.
23 Warri xiyya darbatan Yosiyaas Mootichatti ni darbatan; innis ajajjoota loltoota isaatiin, “Na fuudhaatii deemaa; ani akka malee madaaʼeeraatii” jedhe.
And there, having been wounded by archers, he said to his servants: “Lead me away from the battle. For I have been severely wounded.”
24 Kanaafuu isaan gaarii isaa keessaa isa fuudhanii gaarii biraa irra kaaʼanii gara Yerusaalemitti isa geessan; innis achitti duʼe. Innis awwaala abbootii isaa keessatti awwaalame; Yihuudaa fi Yerusaalem hundi isaaf ni booʼan.
And they took him from the chariot, into another chariot which was following him, as was the custom of kings. And they transported him to Jerusalem. And he died, and he was buried in the mausoleum of his fathers. And all of Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him,
25 Ermiyaasis faaruu booʼichaa Yosiyaasiif baase; hamma harʼaattis dhiironnii fi dubartoonni faarfattoonni hundi faaruu booʼichaa kanaan Yosiyaasin yaadatu. Kunis Israaʼel keessatti bartee taʼee Faaruu Booʼichaa keessatti barreeffame.
most of all Jeremiah. All the singing men and women repeat his lamentations over Josiah, even to the present day. And this has become like a law in Israel. Behold, it is found written in the Lamentations.
26 Wanni bara mootummaa Yosiyaas keessa hojjetame biraa fi gaarummaan isaa akkuma waan Seera Waaqayyoo keessatti barreeffame sanaatti,
Now the rest of the words of Josiah, and his mercies, which were instructed by the law of the Lord,
27 seenaan isaa hundi jalqabaa hamma dhumaatti kitaaba mootota Israaʼelii fi Yihuudaa keessatti barreeffameera.
and also his works, the first and the last, have been written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
