< 2 Seenaa 18 >
1 Yehooshaafaax yeroo kanatti qabeenyaa fi ulfina guddaa qaba ture; innis karaa fuudhaatiin Ahaabitti ni firoome.
Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance, and he allied himself with Ahab by marriage.
2 Innis waggoota muraasa booddee Ahaabin arguuf gara Samaariyaatti gad buʼe. Ahaabis isaa fi namoota isa wajjin turaniif hoolotaa fi sangoota baayʼee qalee akka inni Raamooti Giliʼaad lolu isa sossobate.
And some years later he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria, where Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle for him and the people with him, and urged him to march up to Ramoth-gilead.
3 Ahaab mootichi Israaʼel, “Ati Raamooti Giliʼaadin loluuf na wajjin ni baataa?” jedhee Yehooshaafaax mooticha Yihuudaa gaafate. Yehooshaafaaxis, “Ani akkuma kee ti; sabni koos akkuma saba keetii ti; nu waraana kana irratti isin wajjin dhaabanna” jedhee deebise.
Ahab king of Israel asked Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat replied, “I am like you, and my people are your people; we will join you in the war.”
4 Yehooshaafaax garuu mootii Israaʼeliin, “Duraan dursii gorsa Waaqayyoo gaafadhu” jedhe.
But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of the LORD.”
5 Kanaafuu mootichi Israaʼel raajota dhibba afur walitti qabee, “Nu Raamooti Giliʼaadin loluudhaaf baanu moo dhiisnu?” jedhee ni gaafate. Isaanis, “Dhaqi; Waaqni dabarsee harka mootichaatti ishee kennaatii” jedhanii deebisaniif.
So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, “Should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up,” they replied, “and God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
6 Yehooshaafaax immoo, “Akka nu waa isa gaafannuuf raajiin Waaqayyoo tokko iyyuu as hin jiruu?” jedhee gaafate.
But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here of whom we can inquire?”
7 Mootiin Israaʼel immoo Yehooshaafaaxiin, “Amma illee namichi nu karaa isaatiin Waaqayyoon waa gaafachuu dandeenyu tokko jira; garuu sababii inni yeroo hunda waaʼee koo waan hamaa malee waan gaarii raajii hin dubbanneef ani isa nan jibba. Innis Miikaayaa ilma Yimlaa ti” jedhe. Yehooshaafaax immoo deebisee, “Mootichi akkas jechuu hin qabu” jedheen.
The king of Israel answered, “There is still one man who can ask the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good for me, but only bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” “The king should not say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.
8 Kanaafuu mootiin Israaʼel qondaaltota isaa keessaa nama tokko waamee, “Dhaqiitii Miikaayaa ilma Yimlaa sana dafii fidi” jedheen.
So the king of Israel called one of his officials and said, “Bring Micaiah son of Imlah at once.”
9 Mootichi Israaʼelii fi Yehooshaafaax mootiin Yihuudaa uffata isaanii kan mootummaa uffatanii balbala Samaariyaa seensisu bira oobdii keessa teessoo isaanii irra tataaʼanii raajonni hundi immoo fuula isaanii duratti raajii dubbachaa turan.
Dressed in royal attire, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance of the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.
10 Kana irratti Zedeqiyaan ilmi Keniʼaanaa gaanfawwan sibiilaa tolchee, “Waaqayyo, ‘Ati hamma isaan dhumanitti gaanfawwan kanneeniin warra Sooriyaa ni wawwaraanta’ jedha” jedhee labse.
Now Zedekiah son of Chenaanah had made for himself iron horns and declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘With these you shall gore the Arameans until they are finished off.’”
11 Raajonni kaan hundinuus waanuma kana raajan. Isaanis, “Waaqayyo dabarsee harka mootichaatti ishee kennaatii, Raamooti Giliʼaadin lolii moʼadhu” jedhan.
And all the prophets were prophesying the same, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper, for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
12 Ergamaan Miikaayaa waamuu dhaqe sunis, “Kunoo raajonni kaan utuu gargar hin gorin milkaaʼuu mootichaaf himaa jiru. Maaloo dubbiin kees dubbii isaaniitiin tokko akka taʼuuf atis waan tolaa dubbadhu” jedheen.
Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah instructed him, “Behold, with one accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak favorably.”
13 Miikaayaan garuu deebisee, “Dhugaa Waaqayyo jiraataa, ani waanuma Waaqni koo jedhu qofan isatti hima” jedhe.
But Micaiah said, “As surely as the LORD lives, I will speak whatever my God tells me.”
14 Yommuu inni achi gaʼettis mootichi, “Yaa Miikaayaa, nu Raamooti Giliʼaaditti duullu moo ani dhiisu?” jedhee isa gaafate. Miikaayaanis, “Isaan dabarfamanii harka keetti kennamuutii waraanii moʼadhu” jedhee deebise.
When Micaiah arrived, the king asked him, “Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth-gilead, or should we refrain?” “Go up and triumph,” Micaiah replied, “for they will be given into your hand.”
15 Mootichi immoo, “Ani yeroo hammamin akka ati dhugaa malee waan tokko illee natti hin himne maqaa Waaqayyootiin si kakachiisa?” jedheen.
But the king said to him, “How many times must I make you swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”
16 Kana irratti Miikaayaan akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani Israaʼeloota hunda akkuma hoolota tiksee hin qabneetti gaara irratti bittinnaaʼan nan arge. Waaqayyos, ‘Sabni kun gooftaa hin qabu. Tokkoon tokkoon isaanii nagaadhaan mana isaaniitti haa deebiʼan.’”
So Micaiah declared: “I saw all Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These people have no master; let each one return home in peace.’”
17 Mootiin Israaʼelis Yehooshaafaaxiin, “Ani akka inni waaʼee koo waan hamaa malee waan gaarii tokko iyyuu hin raajne sitti hin himnee?” jedhe.
Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he never prophesies good for me, but only bad?”
18 Miikiyaas ittuma fufee akkana jedhe; “Kanaafuu ati dubbii Waaqayyoo dhagaʼi; ani utuu Waaqayyo teessoo isaa irra taaʼee, ergamoonni samii hundis mirgaa fi bitaa isaatiin dhadhaabatanuu nan arge.
Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right and on His left.
19 Waaqayyos, ‘Eenyutu akka inni dhaqee Raamooti Giliʼaadin lolee achitti duʼuuf Ahaab mooticha Israaʼel gowwoomsa?’ jedhe. “Inni tokko waan tokko jedha; inni kaan immoo waan biraa jedha.
And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel to march up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one suggested this, and another that.
20 Dhuma irratti hafuurri tokko dhufee fuula Waaqayyoo dura dhaabatee, ‘Anatu isa gowwoomsa’ jedhe. “Waaqayyos, ‘Ati maaliin isa dogoggorsita?’ jedhee isa gaafate.
Then a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ ‘By what means?’ asked the LORD.
21 “Innis, ‘Ani dhaqee afaan raajota isaa hunda keessatti hafuura sobaa nan taʼa’ jedhe. “Waaqayyos, ‘Dhaqiitii isa dogoggorsi; ni milkooftaatii’ isaan jedheen.
And he replied, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ ‘You will surely entice him and prevail,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’
22 “Kanaafuu Waaqayyo amma afaan raajota kee kanneenii keessa hafuura sobaa kaaʼeera. Waaqayyo badiisa sitti ajajeera.”
So you see, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours, and the LORD has pronounced disaster against you.”
23 Kana irratti Zedeqiyaan ilmi Keniʼaanaa ol baʼee Miikaayaa fuula keessa kabalee, “Hafuurri Waaqayyoo yommuu sitti dubbachuuf na biraa baʼetti karaa kam deeme?” jedhee gaafate.
Then Zedekiah son of Chenaanah went up, struck Micaiah in the face, and demanded, “Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go when He departed from me to speak with you?”
24 Miikaayaanis, “Ati gaafa dhokachuuf jettee gara kutaa manaa kan gara keessaatti ol galtutti argita” jedhee deebiseef.
Micaiah replied, “You will soon see, on that day when you go and hide in an inner room.”
25 Kana irratti mootiin Israaʼel akkana jedhee ajaje; “Miikaayaa fuudhaatii gara Aamoon bulchaa magaalaa fi gara Yooʼaash ilma mootichaatti geessaatii,
And the king of Israel declared, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son,
26 ‘Mootichi akkana jedha: Hamma ani nagaan deebiʼutti namicha kana mana hidhaa keessa buusaa; buddeenaa fi bishaan malees homaa hin kenninaafii’ jedhaan.”
and tell them that this is what the king says: ‘Put this man in prison and feed him only bread and water until I return safely.’”
27 Miikaayaan immoo, “Yoo ati nagaan deebite, Waaqayyo karaa kootiin hin dubbanne” jedheen. Ittuma fufees, “Yaa saboota, isin hundi dubbii koo akeekkadhaa!” jedhe.
But Micaiah replied, “If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Take heed, all you people!”
28 Kanaafuu mootiin Israaʼelii fi Yehooshaafaax mootiin Yihuudaa Raamooti Giliʼaaditti ol baʼan.
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
29 Mootiin Israaʼel Yehooshaafaaxiin, “Ani eenyummaa koo dhokfadheen lola seena; ati garuu uffata mootummaa uffadhu” jedhe. Kanaafuu mootiin Israaʼel eenyummaa ofii isaa dhokfatee lola seene.
And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your royal robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.
30 Yeroo kanatti mootiin Sooriyaa ajajjoota gaariiwwan isaatiin, “Mootii Israaʼelitti malee xinnaas taʼu guddaatti, nama tokkottuu lola hin kaasinaa” jedhee ajaje.
Now the king of Aram had ordered his chariot commanders, “Do not fight with anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”
31 Ajajjoonni gaariiwwanii yommuu Yehooshaafaaxin arganitti, “Kun mootii Israaʼel” jedhanii yaadan. Kanaafuu isa rukutuuf itti garagalan; Yehooshaafaax garuu guddisee iyye; Waaqayyos isa gargaare. Waaqnis isa irraa isaan deebise;
When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “This is the king of Israel!” So they turned to fight against him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him.
32 ajajjoonni gaariiwwaniis yommuu akka inni mootii Israaʼel hin taʼin arganitti isa ariʼuu dhiisan.
And when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
33 Garuu namichi tokko xiyya ofii isaa darbatee akkuma tasaa qomee sibiilaa gidduudhaan mooticha Israaʼel ni waraane. Mootichis ooftuu gaarii isaatiin, “Gaarii naannessiitii lola keessaa na baasi. Ani madaaʼeeraatii” jedhe.
However, a certain man drew his bow without taking special aim, and he struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So the king said to his charioteer, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am badly wounded!”
34 Lolli sunis guyyaa guutuu ittuma cimee oole; mootiin Israaʼelis ol jedhee hamma aduun dhiitutti gara warra Sooriyaatti garagalee irkatee gaarii isaa keessa oole. Yommuu biiftuun lixxettis ni duʼe.
The battle raged throughout that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Arameans until evening. And at sunset he died.
