1 Saamuʼeel 6
1 Taabonni Waaqayyoos Filisxeem keessa jiʼa torba ture.
And the ark was seven months in the country of the Philistines, and their land brought forth swarms of mice.
2 Filisxeemonnis lubootaa fi ilaaltota waamanii, “Taabota Waaqayyoo maal haa goonu? Iddoo isaatti haala akkamiitiin akka deebifnu nutti himaa” jedhaniin.
And the Philistines call their priests, and their prophets, and their enchanters, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the Lord? teach us wherewith we shall send it away to its place.
3 Isaanis deebisanii, “Yoo taabota Waaqa Israaʼel deebiftan, kennaa yakkaa wajjin malee duwwaa isaa hin deebisinaa; ergasii isin ni fayyitu; harki isaas maaliif akka isin irraa hin kaafamin ni beektu” jedhaniin.
And they said, If ye send away the ark of the covenant of the Lord God of Israel, do not on any account send it away empty, but by all means render to it an offering for the plague; and then shall ye be healed, and an atonement shall be made for you: should not his hand be [thus] stayed from off you?
4 Filisxeemonnis, “Kennaan yakkaa kan nu erginuuf maal taʼuu qaba?” jedhanii gaafatan. Isaanis akkana jedhanii deebisan; “Sababii dhaʼichi isinii fi bulchitoota keessan rukute tokkuma taʼeef akkuma baayʼina bulchitoota Filisxeemotaatti dhiitoo warqee shananii fi hantuuta warqee shan ergaa.
And they say, What [is] the offering for the plague [which] we shall return to it? and they said,
5 Fakkii dhiitoo fi fakkii hantuutaa kanneen biyya balleessaa jiranii hojjedhaa; Waaqa Israaʼeliif immoo ulfina kennaa. Yoos inni harka isaa isin irraa, waaqota keessanii fi biyya keessan irraa ni kaasa taʼa.
According to the number of the lords of the Philistines, five golden emerods, for the plague was on you, and on your rulers, and on the people; and golden mice, the likeness of the mice that destroy your land: and ye shall give glory to the Lord, that he may lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
6 Isin maaliif akka namoota Gibxiitii fi akka Faraʼoon mataa jabeeyyii taatu? Yeroo Waaqayyo adaba cimaadhaan isaan adabetti, isaan akka Israaʼeloonni gara barbaadan deemaniif hin eeyyamneefii?
And why do ye harden your hearts, as Egypt and Pharao hardened their hearts? [was it] not [so] when he mocked them, [that] they let the people go, and they departed?
7 “Kanaafuu gaarii haaraa fi saawwan hoosisan kan waanjoon takkumaa irra hin kaaʼamin lama qopheessaa. Saawwan sanas gaarii sanatti camadaa; jabboota isaanii garuu gara manaatti biraa deebisaatii itti cufaa.
And now take wood and make a new wagon, and take two cows, that have calved for the first time, without their calves; and do ye yoke the cows to the wagon, and lead away the calves from behind them home.
8 Taabota Waaqayyoo sanas fuudhaatii gaarii irra kaaʼaa; miʼa warqee aarsaa yakkaatiif ergitan sanas sanduuqa taabota Waaqayyoo bira jiru keessa kaaʼaa. Akka inni karaa barbaade deemuufis gad dhiisaa;
And ye shall take the ark and put it on the wagon; and ye shall restore to it the golden articles for the trespass-offering in a coffer by the side of it: and ye shall let it go, and sent it away, and ye shall depart.
9 garuu ija isa irraa hin buqqifatinaa. Yoo inni gara biyya isaa gara Beet Shemeshitti qajeele rakkina guddaa kana Waaqayyotu nutti fide. Yoo gara sanatti qajeeluu baate garuu dhaʼichi kun akkuma tasaa nutti dhufe malee Waaqayyo nutti hin fidne.”
And ye shall see, if it shall go the way of its coasts along by Baethsamys, he has brought upon us this great affliction; and if not, then shall we know that his hand has not touched us, but this [is a] chance [which] has happened to us.
10 Isaanis akkasuma godhan. Saawwan lamaan fuudhanii gaariitti camadan; jabboota isaanii manatti deebisanii itti cufan.
And the Philistines did so; and they took two cows that had calved for the first time, and yoked them to the waggon, and shut up their calves at home.
11 Isaanis taabota Waaqayyoo sana gaariitti feʼan. Sanduuqa hantuuta warqeetii fi fakkii iitoo baatu sanas isa wajjin feʼan.
And they set the ark of the Lord, and the coffer, and the golden mice, on the waggon.
12 Saawwan sunis karaa qabatanii utuu bitaa mirgatti hin gorin marʼachaa gara Beet Shemeshitti qajeelan. Bulchitoonni Filisxeemotaas hamma daarii Beet Shemeshitti isaan faana buʼan.
And the cows went straight on the way to the way of Baethsamys, they went along one track; and laboured, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left, and the lords of the Philistines went after it as far as the coasts of Baethsamys.
13 Yeroo sanattis namoonni Beet Shemeshi sulula keessaa qamadii haamaa turan; isaanis yommuu ol jedhanii taabota sana arganitti akka malee gammadan.
And the men of Baethsamys were reaping the wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark of the Lord, and rejoiced to meet it.
14 Gaariin sunis lafa qotiisaa Iyyaasuu nama Beet Shemeshi bira gaʼee kattaa guddaa tokko cina dhaabate. Namoonnis muka gaarii sanaa falaxanii saawwan sana aarsaa gubamu godhanii Waaqayyoof dhiʼeessan.
And the waggon entered into the field of Osee, which was in Baethsamys, and they set there by it a great stone; and they split the wood of the waggon, and offered up the cows for a whole-burnt-offering to the Lord.
15 Warri Lewwotaas taabota Waaqayyoo sanduuqicha miʼa warqee baatu sana wajjin gad buusanii kattaa guddaa irra kaaʼan; gaafuma sanas namoonni Beet Shemeshi aarsaa gubamuu fi qalma Waaqayyoof dhiʼeessan.
And the Levites brought up the ark of the Lord, and the coffer with it, and the golden articles upon it, and placed them on the great stone, and the men of Baethsamys offered whole-burnt-offerings and meat offerings on that day to the Lord.
16 Bulchitoonni Filisxeemotaa shanan erga waan kana hunda arganii booddee gaafuma sana Eqroonitti deebiʼan.
And the five lords of the Philistines saw, and returned to Ascalon in that day.
17 Iiti warqee kan Filisxeemonni aarsaa yakkaa godhanii Waaqayyoof ergan kanaa dha; isaanis tokko Ashdoodiif, tokko Gaazaaf, tokko Eqrooniif, tokko Gaatiif, tokko immoo Ashqalooniif ergan.
And these [are] the golden emerods which the lords of the Philistines gave as a trespass-offering to the Lord; for Azotus one, for Gaza one, for Ascalon one, for Geth one, for Accaron one.
18 Baayʼinni hantuutota warqees akkuma baayʼina magaalaawwan Filisxeemotaa kanneen bulchitoota shananiif kennamaniitti ture. Magaalaawwan dallaa jajjaboo qaban kunneenis gandoota of jalaa qabu ture. Kattaan guddichi isaan taabota Waaqayyoo isa irra kaaʼan sunis lafa qotiisaa Iyyaasuu namicha Beet Shemeshi keessatti hamma harʼaatti dhugaa baatuu dha.
And the golden mice according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines, belonging to the five lords, from the fenced city to the village of the Pherezite, and to the great stone, on which they placed the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that was in the field of Osee the Baethsamysite.
19 Waaqnis sababii isaan taabota Waaqayyoo keessa ilaalaniif namoota Beet Shemeshi dhaʼee isaan keessaa nama torbaatama ajjeese. Sababii Waaqayyo akka malee isaan dhaʼeef namoonni sun ni booʼan;
And the sons of Jechonias were not pleased with the men of Baethsamys, because they saw the ark of the Lord; and [the Lord] smote among them seventy men, and fifty thousand men: and the people mourned, because the Lord had inflicted on the people, a very great plague.
20 namoonni Beet Shemeshis, “Eenyutu fuula Waaqayyoo, fuula Waaqa qulqulluu kanaa dura dhaabachuu dandaʼa? Taabonni kun asii baʼee eenyu bira haa dhaqu?” jedhanii gaafatan.
And the men of Baethsamys said, Who shall be able to pass before this holy Lord God? and to whom shall the ark of the Lord go up from us?
21 Ergasii gara Kiriyaati Yeʼaariimitti ergamoota erganii, “Filisxeemonni taabota Waaqayyoo deebisaniiru; gad kottaatii taabota sana gara keessanitti fudhadhaa” jedhaniin.
And they send messengers to the inhabitants of Cariathiarim, saying, The Philistines have brought back the ark of the Lord, go down and take it home to yourselves.
