< 1 Seenaa 21 >
1 Seexanni Israaʼelitti kaʼee akka Daawit saba Israaʼel lakkaaʼuuf isa kakaase.
And Satan stood up against Israel, and incited David to number Israel.
2 Kanaafuu Daawit Yooʼaabii fi ajajjoota loltootaatiin, “Dhaqaatii Bersheebaadhaa hamma Daaniitti Israaʼeloota lakkaaʼaa. Ergasii immoo akka ani akka isaan hammam akka baayʼatan beekuu dandaʼuuf deebiʼaatii natti himaa” jedhe.
And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beer-sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know [it].
3 Yooʼaab garuu deebisee, “Waaqayyo loltoota isaa dachaa dhibba caalaa haa baayʼisu. Yaa gooftaa koo mooticha, isaan hundi garboota gooftaa kootiif bulan mitii? Gooftaan koo maaliif waan kana gochuu barbaade? Inni maaliif Israaʼelitti yakka fida?” jedhe.
And Joab answered, the LORD make his people a hundred times more numerous than they [are]: but, my lord the king, [are] they not all my lord's servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?
4 Taʼus dubbiin mootichaa Yooʼaabin yaada geeddarachiise; kanaafuu Yooʼaab achii baʼee guutummaa Israaʼel keessa naannaʼee Yerusaalemitti deebiʼe.
Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 Yooʼaabis lakkoobsa namoota loluu dandaʼanii Daawititti hime; namoota Yihuudaa keessa jiraatan kuma dhibba afurii fi torbaatama dabalatee namoota goraadee qabachuu dandaʼan miliyoona tokkoo fi kuma dhibba tokkootu guutummaa Israaʼel keessa ture.
And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to David. And all [they of] Israel were a thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah [was] four hundred and seventy thousand men that drew sword.
6 Sababii ajajni mootichaa Yooʼaabin jibbisiiseef inni gosoota Lewwiitii fi Beniyaam itti dabalee hin lakkoofne.
But Levi and Benjamin he counted not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
7 Ajajni kun fuula Waaqaa durattis waan hamaa ture; kanaafuu inni Israaʼelin rukute.
And God was displeased with this thing, therefore he smote Israel.
8 Kana irratti Daawit Waaqaan, “Ani waan kana gochuudhaan akka malee cubbuu hojjedheera. Amma garuu akka ati balleessaa garbicha keetii dhiiftuuf sin kadhadha. Ani hojii gowwummaa guddaa hojjedheeraa” jedhe.
And David said to God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
9 Waaqayyos Gaad raajii Daawit sanaan akkana jedhe;
And the LORD spoke to Gad, David's seer, saying,
10 “Dhaqiitii Daawitiin, ‘Waaqayyo akkana siin jedha: Ani filannoo sadii siifin kenna. Akka ani isa sitti fiduuf, isaan keessaa tokko filadhu’ jedhi.”
Go and tell David, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee [three] things; choose thee one of them, that I may do [it] to thee.
11 Kanaafuu Gaad gara Daawit dhaqee akkana jedheen; “Waaqayyo akkana jedha: ‘Filannoo kee addaan baafadhu:
So Gad came to David, and said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Choose thee
12 Beela waggaa sadii yookaan jiʼa sadii fuula diinota keetii dura ariʼamuu fi goraadee isaaniitiin balleeffamuu yookaan guyyaa goraadee Waaqayyoo sadii jechuunis guyyoota dhaʼichi biyyattiitti buʼee ergamaan Waaqayyoo kutaa Israaʼel hunda balleessu.’ Egaa amma waan ani isa na erge sanaaf deebisu murteeffadhu.”
Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while the sword of thy enemies overtaketh [thee]; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the borders of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
13 Daawit immoo Gaadiin, “Ani akka malee dhiphadheera. Waan araarri isaa akka malee guddaa taʼeef ani harka Waaqayyoo seenuu naaf wayya; garuu akka ani harka namaa seenu na hin godhin” jedhe.
And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great [are] his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 Kanaafuu Waaqayyo Israaʼelitti dhaʼicha ergee namoonni Israaʼel kuma torbaatama ni dhuman.
So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 Waaqni akka inni Yerusaalem balleessuuf ergamaa isaa tokko erge. Garuu utuma ergamaan Waaqayyoo sun Yerusaalemin balleessuuf qophaaʼaa jiruu Waaqayyo balaa sana argee gaabbee ergamaa isaa kan saba balleessuuf ture sanaan, “Ni gaʼa! Harka kee deebifadhu” jedhe. Yeroo sana ergamaan Waaqayyoo sun oobdii Ornaa namicha gosa Yebuus sanaa bira dhaabachaa ture.
And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thy hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 Daawitis ol ilaalee ergamaa Waaqayyoo kan goraadee luqqifamee Yerusaalemitti diriirfame harka isaatti qabatee samii fi lafa gidduu dhaabachaa jiru tokko ni arge. Daawitii fi maanguddoonni wayyaa gaddaa uffatanii fuula isaa duratti addaan lafatti ni gombifaman.
And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders [of Israel], [who were] clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 Daawit immoo Waaqaan, “Namni akka loltoonni lakkaaʼaman godhe ana mitii? Namni cubbuu fi balleessaa hojjete anuma. Isaan kunneen garuu hoolotaa dha. Isaan maal godhan? Yaa Waaqayyo Waaqa koo harki kee anaa fi maatii koo irra haa buʼu; garuu akka dhaʼichi kun saba kee irra turu hin godhin” jedhe.
And David said to God, [Is it] not I [that] commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but [as for] these sheep, what have they done? let thy hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on thy people, that they should be afflicted.
18 Ergasii ergamaan Waaqayyoo akka Daawit ol baʼee oobdii Ornaa namicha gosa Yebuus sanaa keessatti iddoo aarsaa Waaqayyoof ijaaru akka inni Daawititti himu Gaadin ajaje.
Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and erect an altar to the LORD in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 Kanaafuu Daawit dubbii Gaad maqaa Waaqayyootiin isatti hime sanaaf ajajamee ol baʼe.
And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the LORD.
20 Ornaan utuu qamadii dhaʼuutti jiruu ol jedhee ergamaa Waaqayyoo sana arge; ilmaan isaa warri isa wajjin turan afranis ni dhokatan.
And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 Ergasii Daawit achi gaʼe; Ornaanis yommuu milʼatee isa argetti oobdii sana keessaa baʼee fuula Daawit duratti addaan lafatti gombifamee sagade.
And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked, and saw David, and went out of the threshing-floor, and bowed himself to David with [his] face to the ground.
22 Daawitis, “Ani akka isa irratti iddoo aarsaa Waaqayyoof tolchee akkasiin dhaʼichi saba irra buʼe kun dhaabatuuf oobdii kee naaf kenni. Gatii isaa guutuutti natti gurguri” jedheen.
Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of [this] threshing-floor, that I may build an altar in it to the LORD: thou shalt grant it to me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
23 Ornaanis Daawitiin, “Fudhadhu! Gooftaan koo mootichi waan isatti tolu kam iyyuu haa godhu. Kunoo ani aarsaa gubamuuf sangoota, qoraaniif ulee ittiin midhaan dhaʼan, kennaa midhaan dhiʼeeffamuufis qamadii nan kenna; ani waan kana hunda nan kenna” jedhe.
And Ornan said to David, Take [it] to thee, and let my lord the king do [that which is] good in his eyes: lo, I give [thee] the oxen [also] for burnt-offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat-offering; I give it all.
24 Daawit Mootichi garuu Ornaadhaan, “Kun hin taʼu; ani gatii isaa guutuu siifin kenna. Ani waan kan kee taʼe Waaqayyoof hin fudhadhu yookaan waan gatii na hin baasisin aarsaa gubamuuf hin dhiʼeessu” jedhe.
And king David said to Ornan, No; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take [that] which [is] thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt-offerings without cost.
25 Kanaafuu Daawit gatii lafa sanaa Ornaadhaaf warqee saqilii dhibbaa jaʼa kafale.
So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
26 Daawitis achitti iddoo aarsaa Waaqayyoof tolchee aarsaa gubamuu fi aarsaa nagaa dhiʼeesse. Innis Waaqayyoon ni waammate; Waaqayyos samiidhaa ibiddaan iddoo aarsaa gubamuu irratti isaaf deebii kenne.
And David built there an altar to the LORD, and offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt-offering.
27 Sana booddee Waaqayyo ergamaa isaa sanatti dubbate; innis goraadee isaa manʼee isaatti ni deebise.
And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into its sheath.
28 Daawit yeroo sanatti akka Waaqayyo oobdii Ornaa namicha gosa Yebuus sanaa irratti deebii isaa kenne ni hubate; achittis aarsaa ni dhiʼeesse.
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
29 Dunkaanni Waaqayyoo kan Museen gammoojjiitti hojjetee fi iddoon aarsaa gubamuu Gibeʼoon keessa gaara sagadaa irra ture.
For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt-offering, [were] at that season in the high place at Gibeon.
30 Daawit garuu sababii goraadee ergamaa Waaqayyoo sodaateef achi dhaqee fuula iddoo aarsaa sanaa duratti Waaqa kadhachuu hin dandeenye.
But David could not go before it to inquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
