ରୋମୀୟ 4
1 ତେବେ ଶରୀର ଅନୁସାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପିତୃ-ପୁରୁଷ ଅବ୍ରହାମ କଅଣ ପାଇଅଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କହିବା?
What shall we then say that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 କାରଣ ଅବ୍ରହାମ ଯଦି କ୍ରିୟାକର୍ମ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଧାର୍ମିକ ଗଣିତ ହେଲେ, ତେବେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଗର୍ବର କାରଣ ଅଛି; କିନ୍ତୁ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ନୁହେଁ।
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath [whereof] to glory, but not before God.
3 କାରଣ ପବିତ୍ର ଶାସ୍ତ୍ର କଅଣ କୁହେ? ଅବ୍ରହାମ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ, ଆଉ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ତାହା ଧାର୍ମିକତା ବୋଲି ଗଣିତ ହେଲା।
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
4 ଯେ କର୍ମ କରେ, ତାହା ପକ୍ଷରେ ତାହାର ବେତନ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ରୂପେ ଗଣିତ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଦେୟ ବୋଲି ଗଣିତ ହୁଏ।
Now to him that worketh, is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେ କର୍ମ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର କରେ ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଅଧାର୍ମିକକୁ ଧାର୍ମିକ ବୋଲି ଯେ ଗଣନା କରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ, ତାହା ପକ୍ଷରେ ତାହାର ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ବୋଲି ଗଣିତ ହୁଏ।
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ପକ୍ଷରେ ଈଶ୍ବର କ୍ରିୟାକର୍ମ ବ୍ୟତୀତ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ଗଣନା କରନ୍ତି, ଦାଉଦ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାକୁ ଧନ୍ୟ ବୋଲି କହନ୍ତି, ଯଥା,
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man to whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 “ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କର ଅପରାଧସବୁ କ୍ଷମା ହୋଇଅଛି, ଆଉ ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କର ପାପସବୁ ଆଚ୍ଛାଦିତ ହୋଇଅଛି, ସେମାନେ ଧନ୍ୟ।
[Saying], Blessed [are] they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକର ପାପ ଗଣନା କରିବେ ନାହିଁ, ସେ ଧନ୍ୟ।”
Blessed [is] the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
9 ତାହାହେଲେ ସୁନ୍ନତିମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏପରି ଧନ୍ୟ ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ, ନା ଅସୁନ୍ନତିପ୍ରାପ୍ତମାନଙ୍କୁ କୁହାଯାଏ? ଯେଣୁ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କହୁ, ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ତାହାଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ବୋଲି ଗଣିତ ହେଲା।
[Cometh] this blessedness then upon the circumcision [only], or upon the uncircumcision also? For we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10 ତେବେ, ତାହା କିପରି ଗଣିତ ହେଲା? ତାଙ୍କର ସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ନା ଅସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ? ସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ନୁହେଁ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଅସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ।
How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 ଆଉ, ସେ ଅସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ସକାଶେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ଗଣିତ ହୋଇ ସେଥିର ମୁଦ୍ରାଙ୍କ ସ୍ୱରୂପେ ସୁନ୍ନତ ଚିହ୍ନ ପାଇଲେ, ଯେପରି ଅସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ବିଶ୍ୱାସୀଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ଗଣନା କରାଯିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ପିତା ହୁଅନ୍ତି,
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which [he had yet] being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they are not circumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also;
12 ପୁଣି, ଯେପରି ସେ ସୁନ୍ନତିମାନଙ୍କର ପିତା ହୋଇପାରନ୍ତି, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ସୁନ୍ନତପ୍ରାପ୍ତ, କେବଳ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଅସୁନ୍ନତି ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପିତା ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କର ଯେଉଁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ଥିଲା ସେଥିର ପଦଚିହ୍ନ ଦେଇ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଗମନ କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନଙ୍କର ମଧ୍ୟ।
And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which [he had] being [yet] uncircumcised.
13 କାରଣ ଅବ୍ରହାମ କିମ୍ବା ତାହାଙ୍କ ବଂଶକୁ ଜଗତର ଅଧିକାରୀ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦିଆଯାଇ ନ ଥିଲା, ମାତ୍ର ବିଶ୍ୱାସର ଧାର୍ମିକତା ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦିଆଯାଇଥିଲା।
For the promise that he should be the heir of the world [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 ଯେଣୁ ଯଦି ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାବଲମ୍ବୀମାନେ ଅଧିକାରୀ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ତାହାହେଲେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ବ୍ୟର୍ଥ କରାଯାଇଅଛି ଓ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ନିଷ୍ଫଳ କରାଯାଇଅଛି।
For if they who are of the law [are] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of no effect.
15 କାରଣ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା କ୍ରୋଧ ଜନ୍ମାଏ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଯେଉଁଠାରେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ନାହିଁ, ସେଠାରେ ମୋଶାଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଲଙ୍ଘନ ମଧ୍ୟ ନାହିଁ।
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, [there is] no transgression.
16 ଏଣୁ ଏହି ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ହେତୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୁଏ, ଯେପରି ତାହା ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଅନୁସାରେ ହୁଏ, ଆଉ ତଦ୍ୱାରା ସମସ୍ତ ବଂଶ ପକ୍ଷରେ, କେବଳ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାବଲମ୍ବୀ ବଂଶ ପକ୍ଷରେ ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କ ବିଶ୍ୱାସାବଲମ୍ବୀ ବଂଶ ପକ୍ଷରେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ସେହି ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ଅଟଳ ରହେ;
Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all;
17 ଯେଉଁ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କୁ ସେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ, ଯେ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜୀବିତ କରନ୍ତି ଓ ନ ଥିବା ବସ୍ତୁକୁ ଥିବା ବସ୍ତୁ ପରି ଡାକନ୍ତି, ସେହି ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ସେ ଆମ୍ଭ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କର ପିତା ଅଟନ୍ତି, ଯେପରି ଲେଖାଅଛି, ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବହୁ ଜାତିର ପିତା କରିଅଛୁ।
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who reviveth the dead, and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
18 “ଏହିପରି ତୁମ୍ଭର ବଂଶ ହେବ,” ଏହି ଯେଉଁ କଥା କୁହାଯାଇଥିଲା, ତଦନୁସାରେ ସେ ଯେପରି ବହୁ ଜାତିର ପିତା ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ସେଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ଆଶା ନ ଥିଲେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଆଶା ରଖି ସେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ।
Who against hope believed with hope, that he should become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 ତାହାଙ୍କ ବୟସ ପ୍ରାୟ ଏକ ଶତ ବର୍ଷ ହେବାରୁ ସେ ଆପଣା ଶରୀରକୁ ମୃତବତ୍ ଓ ସାରାଙ୍କ ଗର୍ଭକୁ ମୃତ ବୋଲି ବିବେଚନା କଲେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ବିଶ୍ୱାସରେ ଦୁର୍ବଳ ହେଲେ ନାହିଁ,
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb.
20 ବରଂ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଷ୍ଟିପାତ କରି ଅବିଶ୍ୱାସ ହେତୁ ସନ୍ଦେହ କଲେ ନାହିଁ,
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 କିନ୍ତୁ ଈଶ୍ବର ଯାହା ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହା ସାଧନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେ ଯେ ସକ୍ଷମ, ଏହା ଦୃଢ଼ରୂପେ ଜାଣି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଗୌରବ ଦେଇ ବିଶ୍ୱାସରେ ବଳବାନ ହେଲେ।
And being fully persuaded, that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 ଏଥିପାଇଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ଏହା ତାହାଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ବୋଲି ଗଣିତ ହେଲା।
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 ତାହାଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ଯେ ଗଣିତ ହେଲା, ଏହା କେବଳ ତାହାଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଲିଖିତ ହୋଇ ନାହିଁ,
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 ମାତ୍ର ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଲେଖା ହୋଇଅଛି; କାରଣ ଯେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଭୁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଉତ୍ଥାପନ କଲେ, ତାହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରୁଅଛୁ ଯେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହା ଗଣିତ ହେବ;
But for us also, to whom it will be imputed, if we believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
25 ସେହି ଯୀଶୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଅପରାଧ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସମର୍ପିତ ହେଲେ, ପୁଣି, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ଗଣିତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥିତ ହେଲେ।
Who was delivered for our offenses, and raised again for our justification.
