ଗୀତସଂହିତା 127

1 ଆରୋହଣ ଗୀତ; ଶଲୋମନଙ୍କ ରଚିତ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଯଦି ଗୃହ ନିର୍ମାଣ ନ କରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ନିର୍ମାଣକାରୀମାନେ ବ୍ୟର୍ଥରେ ପରିଶ୍ରମ କରନ୍ତି; ଯଦି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ନଗର ରକ୍ଷା ନ କରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ପ୍ରହରୀ କେବଳ ବୃଥାରେ ଜାଗ୍ରତ ହୁଏ।

A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain.

2 ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯେ ପ୍ରଭାତରେ ଉଠ ଓ ଏତେ ବିଳମ୍ବରେ ବିଶ୍ରାମ କର, ଆଉ ଶାନ୍ତିର ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଭୋଜନ କର, ଏହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ବୃଥା। କାରଣ ସେହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରିୟତମକୁ ନିଦ୍ରା ଦିଅନ୍ତି।

[It is] vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 ଦେଖ, ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଦତ୍ତ ଅଧିକାର ଓ ଗର୍ଭଜାତ ଫଳ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦତ୍ତ ପୁରସ୍କାର।

Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

4 ଯୌବନର ସନ୍ତାନଗଣ ବୀର ପୁରୁଷର ହସ୍ତସ୍ଥିତ ତୀର ସଦୃଶ।

As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man; so [are] children of the youth.

5 ଯାହାର ତୂଣ ତାଦୃଶ ତୀରରେ ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ, ସେ ଜନ ସୁଖୀ; ସେମାନେ ନଗର-ଦ୍ୱାରରେ ଶତ୍ରୁଗଣ ସଙ୍ଗେ କଥା କହିବା ବେଳେ ଲଜ୍ଜିତ ହେବେ ନାହିଁ।

Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
