ହିତୋପଦେଶ 6
1 ହେ ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ର, ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସୀର ବନ୍ଧକ ହୋଇଥାଅ, ଯଦି ପର ପାଇଁ ହାତ ଦେଇଥାଅ,
My son, if thou hast become surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand for a stranger,
2 ତେବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ମୁଖର ବାକ୍ୟରୂପ ଫାନ୍ଦରେ ପଡ଼ିଅଛ ଓ ଆପଣା ମୁଖର କଥାରେ ଧରା ଯାଇଅଛ।
thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
3 ହେ ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ର, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଏବେ ଏହି କର୍ମ କର, ଆପଣାକୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କର; ଯେହେତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ବନ୍ଧୁର ହସ୍ତଗତ ହୋଇଅଛ; ଯାଅ, ଆପଣାକୁ ନମ୍ର କରି ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରତିବାସୀକୁ ବାରମ୍ବାର ବିନତି କର।
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, since thou hast come into the hand of thy friend: go, humble thyself, and be urgent with thy friend.
4 ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ଚକ୍ଷୁକୁ ନିଦ୍ରା ଯିବାକୁ ଦିଅ ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ଆପଣା ଚକ୍ଷୁର ପତାକୁ ଢୁଳାଇବାକୁ ଦିଅ ନାହିଁ।
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids:
5 ଆପଣାକୁ ହରିଣ ପରି ବ୍ୟାଧର ହାତରୁ, ପକ୍ଷୀ ପରି ଜାଲିଆର ହାତରୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର କର।
deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 ହେ ଅଳସୁଆ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପିମ୍ପୁଡ଼ି ପାଖକୁ ଯାଅ, ତାହାର କ୍ରିୟା ବିବେଚନା କର ଓ ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ହୁଅ।
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise:
7 ତାହାର ବିଚାରକର୍ତ୍ତା କିମ୍ବା ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ କିମ୍ବା ପ୍ରଭୁ କେହି ନ ଥିଲେ ହେଁ ସେ ଗ୍ରୀଷ୍ମକାଳରେ ଆପଣା ଖାଦ୍ୟ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରେ,
which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 ପୁଣି, ଫସଲ ସମୟରେ ଆହାର ସଞ୍ଚୟ କରେ।
provideth her bread in the summer, [and] gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 ହେ ଅଳସୁଆ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ କେତେ କାଳ ଶୋଇ ରହିଥିବ? ତୁମ୍ଭେ କେତେବେଳେ ନିଦ୍ରା ଭାଙ୍ଗି ଉଠିବ?
How long, sluggard, wilt thou lie down? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 ଆଉ ଟିକିଏ ଶୋଇଲେ, ଆଉ ଟିକିଏ ଢୁଳାଇଲେ, ଆଉ ଟିକିଏ ନିଦ୍ରା ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ହାତ ଭିଡ଼ିମୋଡ଼ି ହେଲେ,
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest!
11 ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦରିଦ୍ରାବସ୍ଥା ଖଣ୍ଟ ପରି, ପୁଣି, ତୁମ୍ଭର ଦୀନତା ସସଜ୍ଜ ଲୋକ ପରି ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେବ।
So shall thy poverty come as a roving plunderer, and thy penury as an armed man.
12 ବେଲିଆଲ୍ ସନ୍ତାନ, ଅପରାଧୀ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ; ସେ ସର୍ବଦା କୁଟିଳ ମୁଖ କରି ଚାଲେ;
A man of Belial, a wicked person, is he that goeth about with a perverse mouth;
13 ସେ ଆଖିରେ ଠାରଇ, ସେ ଗୋଡ଼ରେ କଥା କହଇ, ସେ ଅଙ୍ଗୁଳି ଦ୍ୱାରା ସଙ୍କେତ କରେ;
he winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
14 ତାହାର ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣରେ କୁଟିଳତା ଥାଏ, ସେ ସର୍ବଦା ଅନିଷ୍ଟ ଚିନ୍ତା କରେ; ସେ କଳିର ବୀଜ ବୁଣେ।
deceits are in his heart; he deviseth mischief at all times, he soweth discords.
15 ଏଣୁ ତାହାର ବିପଦ ହଠାତ୍ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେବ, ପୁଣି, ସେ ପ୍ରତିକାର ବିନା ଅକସ୍ମାତ୍ ଭଗ୍ନ ହେବ।
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly: in a moment shall he be broken, and without remedy.
16 ଛଅଗୋଟି ବିଷୟକୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଘୃଣା କରନ୍ତି; ସପ୍ତବସ୍ତୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାଙ୍କର ଘୃଣାଯୋଗ୍ୟ।
These six [things] doth Jehovah hate, yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 ଅହଙ୍କାର-ଦୃଷ୍ଟି, ମିଥ୍ୟାବାଦୀ ଜିହ୍ୱା ଓ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦୋଷର ରକ୍ତପାତକାରୀ-ହସ୍ତ;
haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18 ଅନିଷ୍ଟ ଚିନ୍ତକ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ, କୁକର୍ମ କରିବାକୁ ବେଗଗାମୀ ଚରଣ;
a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations; feet that are swift in running to mischief;
19 ମିଥ୍ୟାସାକ୍ଷୀ ଯେ ମିଥ୍ୟା କହେ ଓ ଯେ ଭାଇମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ କଳିର ବୀଜ ବୁଣେ।
a false witness that uttereth lies, and he that soweth discords among brethren.
20 ହେ ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ର, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ପିତାର ଆଜ୍ଞା ପାଳନ କର, ପୁଣି, ଆପଣା ମାତାର ଆଦେଶ ପରିତ୍ୟାଗ କର ନାହିଁ।
My son, observe thy father's commandment, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
21 ତାହା ସର୍ବଦା ତୁମ୍ଭ ହୃଦୟରେ ବାନ୍ଧି ରଖ, ଆପଣା ଗଳଦେଶରେ ବାନ୍ଧ।
bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck:
22 ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଚାଲିବା ବେଳେ ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ପଥ ଦେଖାଇବ, ଆଉ ଶୋଇବା ବେଳେ ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରହରୀ ହେବ; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଜାଗିବା ବେଳେ ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଆଳାପ କରିବ।
when thou walkest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 ଯେହେତୁ ସେହି ଆଜ୍ଞା ପ୍ରଦୀପ ଓ ସେହି ଆଦେଶ ଆଲୁଅ; ଓ ଶିକ୍ଷାଜନକ ଅନୁଯୋଗ ଜୀବନର ପଥ;
For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24 ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଦୁଷ୍ଟା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଠାରୁ ଓ ପରସ୍ତ୍ରୀର ଜିହ୍ୱାର ଚାଟୁବାଦରୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବ।
to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25 ତୁମ୍ଭ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣରେ ତାହାର ସୌନ୍ଦର୍ଯ୍ୟକୁ ଲୋଭ କର ନାହିଁ; ଅବା ତାହାର କଟାକ୍ଷରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଧରିବାକୁ ତାକୁ ଦିଅ ନାହିଁ।
Lust not after her beauty in thy heart, neither let her take thee with her eyelids;
26 ଯେହେତୁ ବେଶ୍ୟା ସକାଶୁ ଅନ୍ନ-ଅଭାବ ଘଟେ, ଆଉ ବ୍ୟଭିଚାରିଣୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ମହାମୂଲ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାଣକୁ ଧରିବା ପାଇଁ ମୃଗୟା କରେ।
for by means of a whorish woman [a man is brought] to a loaf of bread, and another's wife doth hunt for the precious soul.
27 କେହି ଯେବେ ଆପଣା ବକ୍ଷସ୍ଥଳରେ ନିଆଁ ରଖେ, ତେବେ ତାହାର ବସ୍ତ୍ର କʼଣ ପୋଡ଼ି ଯିବ ନାହିଁ?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his garments not be burned?
28 ଅବା କେହି ଯେବେ ଜ୍ୱଳନ୍ତା ଅଙ୍ଗାର ଉପରେ ଚାଲେ, ତେବେ ତାହାର ପାଦରେ କʼଣ ଫୋଟକା ହେବ ନାହିଁ?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସୀର ସ୍ତ୍ରୀଠାରେ ଯେଉଁ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଗମନ କରେ, ସେ ତଦ୍ରୂପ; ଯେ ତାହାକୁ ଛୁଏଁ, ସେ ଅଦଣ୍ଡିତ ନୋହିବ।
So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife: whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
30 ଚୋର କ୍ଷୁଧିତ ହୋଇ ପ୍ରାଣରକ୍ଷାର୍ଥେ ଯଦି ଚୋରି କରେ, ତେବେ ଲୋକେ ତାହାକୁ ତୁଚ୍ଛ କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ।
They do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry:
31 ମାତ୍ର ସେ ଧରା ପଡ଼ିଲେ, ତାକୁ ସାତ ଗୁଣ ଫେରାଇ ଦେବାକୁ ହେବ; ଆପଣା ଗୃହର ସର୍ବସ୍ୱ ତାକୁ ଦେବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିବ।
and if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
32 ଜଣେ ବ୍ୟଭିଚାରୀ ପୁରୁଷ ନିତାନ୍ତ ନିର୍ବୋଧ; ଯେ ନିଜ ପ୍ରାଣନାଶ କରିବ, ସେ ହିଁ ତାହା କରେ।
Whoso committeth adultery with a woman is void of understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
33 ସେ ଆଘାତ ଓ ଅପମାନ ପାଇବ; ପୁଣି, ତାହାର କଳଙ୍କ ମାର୍ଜିତ ହେବ ନାହିଁ।
A wound and contempt shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 ଯେହେତୁ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ବିଷୟକ ଈର୍ଷା ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ପ୍ରଚଣ୍ଡ କ୍ରୋଧର ବିଷୟ; ପ୍ରତିହିଂସା କରିବା ବେଳେ ସେ କିଛି କ୍ଷମା କରିବ ନାହିଁ।
For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance;
35 ସେ କୌଣସି ପ୍ରାୟଶ୍ଚିତ୍ତକୁ ଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ କରିବ ନାହିଁ; କିଅବା ତୁମ୍ଭେ ବହୁତ ଲାଞ୍ଚ ଦେଲେ ହେଁ ସେ ମାନିବ ନାହିଁ।
he will not regard any ransom, neither will he rest content though thou multipliest [thy] gifts.
