ହିତୋପଦେଶ 29
1 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଥରକୁଥର ଅନୁଯୋଗ ପାଇଲେ ହେଁ ଆପଣା ଗ୍ରୀବା ଶକ୍ତ କରେ, ସେ ପ୍ରତିକାର ବିନୁ ହଠାତ୍ ଭଗ୍ନ ହେବ।
He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck shall suddenly be broken, and that without remedy.
2 ଧାର୍ମିକମାନେ ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିଷ୍ଣୁ ହେଲେ, ଲୋକମାନେ ଆନନ୍ଦ କରନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକ କର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ ପାଇଲେ, ଲୋକମାନେ ଆର୍ତ୍ତସ୍ୱର କରନ୍ତି।
When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice: but when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.
3 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଜ୍ଞାନକୁ ସ୍ନେହ କରେ, ସେ ଆପଣା ପିତାକୁ ଆନନ୍ଦିତ କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ବେଶ୍ୟାମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ଅନୁରକ୍ତ, ସେ ଆପଣା ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ଉଡ଼ାଇ ଦିଏ।
Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth [his] substance.
4 ରାଜା ସୁବିଚାର ଦ୍ୱାରା ଦେଶ ସୁସ୍ଥିର କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଉପହାରପ୍ରିୟ, ସେ ତାହା ଉଜାଡ଼ି ପକାଏ।
The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.
5 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସୀର ଚାଟୁବାଦ କରେ, ସେ ତାହାର ପାଦ ପାଇଁ ଜାଲ ପ୍ରସାରେ।
A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.
6 ମନ୍ଦ ଲୋକର ଅଧର୍ମରେ ଫାନ୍ଦ ଥାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକ ଗାନ ଓ ଆନନ୍ଦ କରେ।
In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
7 ଧାର୍ମିକ ଲୋକ ଦୀନହୀନମାନଙ୍କ ଗୁହାରି ବିଷୟରେ ବିଜ୍ଞ; ମାତ୍ର ତାହା ଜାଣିବା ପାଇଁ ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକର ବୁଦ୍ଧି ନାହିଁ।
The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor: the wicked hath not understanding to know [it].
8 ନିନ୍ଦକମାନେ ନଗରକୁ ପ୍ରଜ୍ୱଳିତ କରନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ଜ୍ଞାନୀମାନେ କ୍ରୋଧ ନିବାରଣ କରନ୍ତି।
Scornful men set a city in a flame: but wise men turn away wrath.
9 ଅଜ୍ଞାନ ସହିତ ଜ୍ଞାନବାନର ବିବାଦ ହେଲେ, ସେ କ୍ରୋଧ କଲେ କି ହସିଲେ, କିଛି ଶାନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ।
If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.
10 ରକ୍ତପାତପ୍ରିୟ ଲୋକମାନେ ସିଦ୍ଧ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିକୁ ଘୃଣା କରନ୍ତି; ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ସରଳ ଲୋକର ପ୍ରାଣ ଖୋଜନ୍ତି।
The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect: and as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 ମୂର୍ଖ ଆପଣାର ସବୁ କ୍ରୋଧ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ତାହା ସମ୍ଭାଳି କ୍ଷାନ୍ତ କରେ।
A fool uttereth all his anger: but a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.
12 ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା ଯେବେ ମିଥ୍ୟା କଥାରେ କାନ ଡେରେ, ତେବେ ତାହାର ସେବକ ସବୁ ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ହୁଅନ୍ତି।
If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood, all his servants are wicked.
13 ଦରିଦ୍ର ଓ ଉପଦ୍ରବୀ ଏକତ୍ର ମିଳନ୍ତି, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଉଭୟର ଚକ୍ଷୁ ଦୀପ୍ତିମାନ କରନ୍ତି।
The poor man and the oppressor meet together: the LORD lighteneth the eyes of them both.
14 ଯେଉଁ ରାଜା ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ରୂପେ ଦୀନହୀନମାନଙ୍କର ବିଚାର କରେ, ତାହାର ସିଂହାସନ ସଦାକାଳ ସୁସ୍ଥିର ହେବ।
The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
15 ବାଡ଼ି ଓ ଅନୁଯୋଗ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଦିଏ; ମାତ୍ର ପିଲାକୁ ତାହାର ଇଚ୍ଛାରେ ଛାଡ଼ିଦେଲେ, ସେ ତାହାର ମାତାକୁ ଲଜ୍ଜା ଦିଏ।
The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.
16 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକମାନେ ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିଷ୍ଣୁ ହେଲେ, ଅଧର୍ମ ବଢ଼େ; ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ନିପାତ ଦେଖିବେ।
When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall look upon their fall.
17 ଆପଣା ପୁତ୍ରକୁ ଶାସ୍ତି ଦେଲେ, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଶାନ୍ତି ଦେବ; ପୁଣି, ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରାଣକୁ ସୁଖ ଦେବ।
Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
18 ଈଶ୍ୱରୀୟ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଦେଶ ଅଭାବରେ ଲୋକମାନେ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହୁଅନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ପାଳେ, ସେ ଧନ୍ୟ।
Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
19 କଥାମାତ୍ରରେ ଦାସର ଦମନ ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ; ଯେହେତୁ ସେ ବୁଝିଲେ ହେଁ ମନୋଯୋଗ କରେ ନାହିଁ।
A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not give heed.
20 ତୁମ୍ଭେ କି କଥାରେ ଚଞ୍ଚଳ ଲୋକକୁ ଦେଖୁଅଛ? ତାହା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ମୂର୍ଖ ବିଷୟରେ ଅଧିକ ଭରସା ଅଛି।
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
21 ଯେ ପିଲାଦିନୁ ଆପଣା ଦାସକୁ ଗେହ୍ଲା କରି ପାଳେ, ଶେଷରେ ସେହି ଦାସ ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ର ହୋଇ ଉଠେ।
He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become a son at the last.
22 କ୍ରୋଧୀ ଲୋକ ବିବାଦ ଜନ୍ମାଏ, ପୁଣି, ରାଗାନ୍ଧ ଲୋକ ବହୁତ ଅଧର୍ମ କରେ।
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.
23 ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ଅହଙ୍କାର ତାହାକୁ ନତ କରିବ; ମାତ୍ର ଯାହାର ଆତ୍ମା ବିନତ, ସେ ସମ୍ମାନ ପାଇବ।
A man’s pride shall bring him low: but he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honour.
24 ଚୋରର ଭାଗୀ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରାଣକୁ ଘୃଣା କରେ, ସେ ରାଣ କରାଇବାର କଥା ଶୁଣେ, କିନ୍ତୁ କିଛି ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ ନାହିଁ।
Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.
25 ଲୋକଭୟ ଫାନ୍ଦଜନକ; ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରେ ଯେ ନିର୍ଭର ରଖେ, ସେ ସୁରକ୍ଷିତ ହେବ।
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
26 ଅନେକେ ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତାର ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ଚାହାନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ବିଚାର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରୁ ହୁଏ।
Many seek the ruler’s favour: but a man’s judgment [cometh] from the LORD.
27 ଅଧର୍ମକାରୀ ଲୋକ ଧାର୍ମିକର ଘୃଣା ବିଷୟ, ପୁଣି, ସରଳ-ପଥଗାମୀ ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକର ଘୃଣା ବିଷୟ ହୁଏ।
An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous: and he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.
