ହିତୋପଦେଶ 28
1 କେହି ନ ଗୋଡ଼ାଇଲେ ହେଁ ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ପଳାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକମାନେ ସିଂହ ପରି ସାହସିକ।
The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2 ଦେଶର ଅଧର୍ମ ସକାଶୁ ତହିଁର ଅଧିପତି ଅନେକ ହୁଅନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ଓ ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ତହିଁର ସ୍ଥିରତା ଦୀର୍ଘ ହୁଏ।
For the transgression of a land many [are] the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding [and] knowledge the state [thereof] shall be prolonged.
3 ଯେଉଁ ଦରିଦ୍ର ଲୋକ ଦୀନହୀନକୁ ଉପଦ୍ରବ କରେ, ସେ ପ୍ଲାବନକାରୀ ବୃଷ୍ଟି ପରି; ତହିଁରେ ଭକ୍ଷ୍ୟର ଅଭାବ ଘଟେ।
A poor man that oppresseth the poor [is like] a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
4 ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାତ୍ୟାଗକାରୀମାନେ ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଶଂସା କରନ୍ତି, ପୁଣି, ଆଜ୍ଞା ପାଳିବା ଲୋକମାନେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ବିରୋଧ କରନ୍ତି।
They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
5 ମନ୍ଦ ଲୋକମାନେ ନ୍ୟାୟ ବୁଝନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣକାରୀମାନେ ସବୁ ବିଷୟ ବୁଝନ୍ତି।
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all [things].
6 ଦ୍ୱିପଥଗାମୀ କୁଟିଳ ଲୋକ ଧନୀ ହେଲେ ହେଁ ତାହା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଆପଣା ସିଦ୍ଧତାରେ ଗମନକାରୀ ଦରିଦ୍ର ଲୋକ ଭଲ।
Better [is] the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than [he that is] perverse [in his] ways, though he [be] rich.
7 ଯେ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ମାନେ, ସେ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ପୁତ୍ର; ପୁଣି, ଯେ ପେଟାର୍ଥୀମାନଙ୍କର ସଙ୍ଗୀ ହୁଏ, ସେ ଆପଣା ପିତାକୁ ଲଜ୍ଜା ଦିଏ।
Whoso keepeth the law [is] a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous [men] shameth his father.
8 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ସୁଧ ଓ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ଦ୍ୱାରା ଆପଣା ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ବୃଦ୍ଧି କରେ, ସେ ଦୀନହୀନ ପ୍ରତି ଦୟାକାରୀ ପାଇଁ ତାହା ସଞ୍ଚୟ କରେ।
He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.
9 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଶୁଣିବାରୁ ଆପଣା କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଫେରାଏ, ତାହାର ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା ହିଁ ଘୃଣାର ବିଷୟ ହୁଏ।
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer [shall be] abomination.
10 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ସରଳ ଲୋକକୁ ମନ୍ଦ ପଥରେ ଯିବାକୁ ଭୁଲାଏ, ସେ ସ୍ୱକୃତ ଖାତରେ ଆପେ ପଡ଼ିବ; ମାତ୍ର ସିଦ୍ଧ ଲୋକେ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ଅଧିକାର କରିବେ।
Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good [things] in possession.
11 ଧନବାନ ଆପଣା ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ; ମାତ୍ର ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ଦୀନହୀନ ଲୋକ ତାହାର ପରିଚୟ ନିଏ।
The rich man [is] wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12 ଧାର୍ମିକମାନେ ଜୟ କଲେ ମହାଗୌରବ ହୁଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କର ଉନ୍ନତି ହେଲେ ଲୋକେ ଆପଣାକୁ ଲୁଚାନ୍ତି।
When righteous [men] do rejoice, [there is] great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.
13 ଯେ ଆପଣା ଅଧର୍ମ ଆଚ୍ଛାଦନ କରେ, ସେ ମଙ୍ଗଳ ପାଏ ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ତାହା ସ୍ୱୀକାର କରି ଛାଡ଼େ, ସେ ଦୟା ପାଇବ।
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall have mercy.
14 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ସବୁବେଳେ କୁକର୍ମ କରିବାକୁ ଭୟ ରଖେ, ସେ ଧନ୍ୟ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଆପଣା ମନକୁ କଠିନ କରେ, ସେ ଆପଦରେ ପଡ଼ିବ।
Happy [is] the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
15 ଯେପରି ଗର୍ଜ୍ଜନକାରୀ ସିଂହ ଓ ଭ୍ରମଣକାରୀ ଭାଲୁ; ସେପରି ଦୀନହୀନ ପ୍ରଜାଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଦୁଷ୍ଟ କର୍ତ୍ତା।
[As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; [so is] a wicked ruler over the poor people.
16 ଯେଉଁ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷ ବୁଦ୍ଧିହୀନ, ସେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଅତି ଉପଦ୍ରବୀ ହୁଏ, ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଲୋଭକୁ ଘୃଣା କରେ, ସେ ଆପଣା ଦିନ ବଢ଼ାଇବ।
The prince that wanteth understanding [is] also a great oppressor: [but] he that hateth covetousness shall prolong [his] days.
17 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ କୌଣସି ଲୋକର ରକ୍ତରେ ଭାରଗ୍ରସ୍ତ ହୁଏ, ସେ ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପଳାଇବ; କେହି ତାହାକୁ ନ ଅଟକାଉ।
A man that doeth violence to the blood of [any] person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.
18 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ସିଦ୍ଧ ଭାବରେ ଚାଲେ, ସେ ରକ୍ଷା ପାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଆପଣା ପଥରେ କୁଟିଳ ଲୋକ ଅକସ୍ମାତ୍ ପଡ଼ିବ।
Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but [he that is] perverse [in his] ways shall fall at once.
19 ଆପଣା ଭୂମି ଯେ ଚଷେ, ସେ ଯଥେଷ୍ଟ ଆହାର ପାଇବ; ପୁଣି, ଯେ ଅସାର ଲୋକଙ୍କର ଅନୁଗାମୀ ହୁଏ, ତାହାର ଯଥେଷ୍ଟ ଦରିଦ୍ରତା ହେବ।
He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain [persons] shall have poverty enough.
20 ବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦରେ ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିଷ୍ଣୁ ହେବ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଧନବାନ ହେବାକୁ ଅତି ଉଦ୍ୟମ କରେ, ସେ ଅଦଣ୍ଡିତ ନୋହିବ।
A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
21 ମୁଖାପେକ୍ଷା କରିବା ଭଲ ନୁହେଁ। କିଅବା ଖଣ୍ଡେ ରୁଟି ପାଇଁ ଅଧର୍ମ କରିବା ଭଲ ନୁହେଁ।
To have respect of persons [is] not good: for for a piece of bread [that] man will transgress.
22 କୁଦୃଷ୍ଟି ଲୋକ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ପଛେ ଦୌଡ଼େ, ମାତ୍ର ତାହାକୁ ଅଭାବ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରିବ ବୋଲି ସେ ଜାଣେ ନାହିଁ।
He that hasteth to be rich [hath] an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
23 ଜିହ୍ୱାରେ ଚାଟୁବାଦ କରିବା ଲୋକ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ମନୁଷ୍ୟକୁ ଅନୁଯୋଗ କରିବା ଲୋକ ଶେଷରେ ଅଧିକ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଏ।
He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24 ଯେ ଆପଣା ପିତା କିମ୍ବା ମାତାର ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟ ଅପହରଣ କରି କହେ, ଏଥିରେ କିଛି ଅଧର୍ମ ନାହିଁ, ସେ ସଂହାର କର ସଙ୍ଗୀ।
Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, [It is] no transgression; the same [is] the companion of a destroyer.
25 ବହୁପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଶୀ ପ୍ରାଣ ବିବାଦ ଜନ୍ମାଏ, ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ନିର୍ଭର ରଖେ, ସେ ହୃଷ୍ଟପୁଷ୍ଟ ହେବ।
He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
26 ଯେ ଆପଣା ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣରେ ନିର୍ଭର ରଖେ, ସେ ମୂର୍ଖ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଜ୍ଞାନରେ ଚାଲେ, ସେ ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇବ।
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
27 ଯେ ଦରିଦ୍ରକୁ ଦାନ କରେ, ତାହାର ଅଭାବ ହେବ ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଆପଣା ଚକ୍ଷୁ ମୁଦେ, ସେ ଅନେକ ଅଭିଶାପ ପାଇବ।
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.
28 ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନେ ଉନ୍ନତ ହେଲେ, ଲୋକେ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ଲୁଚାନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନେ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେଲେ, ଧାର୍ମିକଗଣ ବର୍ଦ୍ଧିଷ୍ଣୁ ହୁଅନ୍ତି।
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
