ହିତୋପଦେଶ 27
1 ତୁମ୍ଭେ କାଲିର ବିଷୟରେ ଦର୍ପ କଥା କୁହ ନାହିଁ; ଯେହେତୁ ଏକ ଦିନ କଅଣ ଉତ୍ପାଦନ କରିବ, ତାହା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଜଣା ନାହିଁ।
Boast not thyself of to-morrow, For thou knowest not what a day bringeth forth.
2 ଅନ୍ୟ ଲୋକ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରଶଂସା କରୁ, ମାତ୍ର ତୁମ୍ଭର ନିଜ ମୁଖ ତାହା ନ କରୁ; ଅପର ଲୋକ କରୁ, ମାତ୍ର ତୁମ୍ଭ ନିଜ ଓଷ୍ଠ ତାହା ନ କରୁ।
Let another praise thee, and not thine own mouth, A stranger, and not thine own lips.
3 ଭାରୀ ପଥର ଓ ଗୁରୁ ବାଲି; ମାତ୍ର ଅଜ୍ଞାନର ବିରକ୍ତି, ସେ ଦୁଇରୁ ଭାରୀ।
A stone [is] heavy, and the sand [is] heavy, And the anger of a fool Is heavier than they both.
4 କୋପ ନିଷ୍ଠୁର ଓ କ୍ରୋଧ ପ୍ରଳୟକାରୀ; ମାତ୍ର ଅନ୍ତର୍ଜ୍ୱାଳା ଆଗରେ କିଏ ଠିଆ ହୋଇପାରେ?
Fury [is] fierce, and anger [is] overflowing, And who standeth before jealousy?
5 ଗୁପ୍ତ ପ୍ରେମଠାରୁ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ଅନୁଯୋଗ ଭଲ।
Better [is] open reproof than hidden love.
6 ପ୍ରେମକାରୀର କ୍ଷତ ବିଶ୍ୱାସନୀୟ; ମାତ୍ର ଶତ୍ରୁର ଚୁମ୍ବନ ବହୁଳ।
Faithful are the wounds of a lover, And abundant the kisses of an enemy.
7 ତୃପ୍ତ ପ୍ରାଣୀ ମହୁଚାକକୁ ଘୃଣା କରେ; ମାତ୍ର କ୍ଷୁଧାର୍ତ୍ତ ପ୍ରାଣୀକୁ ତିକ୍ତ ଦ୍ରବ୍ୟସବୁ ମିଷ୍ଟ।
A satiated soul treadeth down a honeycomb, And [to] a hungry soul every bitter thing [is] sweet.
8 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ସ୍ଥାନ ଛାଡ଼ି ଭ୍ରମଣ କରେ, ସେ ବସାରୁ ଭ୍ରମଣକାରୀ ପକ୍ଷୀର ତୁଲ୍ୟ।
As a bird wandering from her nest, So [is] a man wandering from his place.
9 ତୈଳ ଓ ସୁଗନ୍ଧି ଧୂପ ମନକୁ ଆହ୍ଲାଦିତ କରେ, ମନର ମନ୍ତ୍ରଣାରୁ ଜାତ ମିତ୍ରର ମିଷ୍ଟତା ତଦ୍ରୂପ କରେ।
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart, And the sweetness of one's friend — from counsel of the soul.
10 ନିଜର ବନ୍ଧୁକୁ ଓ ପିତାର ବନ୍ଧୁକୁ ତ୍ୟାଗ କର ନାହିଁ; ପୁଣି, ତୁମ୍ଭର ବିପଦ ଦିନରେ ଆପଣା ଭାଇର ଗୃହକୁ ଯାଅ ନାହିଁ; ଦୂରସ୍ଥ ଭାଇଠାରୁ ନିକଟସ୍ଥ ପ୍ରତିବାସୀ ଭଲ।
Thine own friend, and the friend of thy father, forsake not, And the house of thy brother enter not In a day of thy calamity, Better [is] a near neighbour than a brother afar off.
11 ହେ ମୋହର ପୁତ୍ର, ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ ହୁଅ ଓ ମୋʼ ମନକୁ ଆହ୍ଲାଦିତ କର; ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ଆପଣା ନିନ୍ଦକକୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ ପାରିବି।
Be wise, my son, and rejoice my heart. And I return my reproacher a word.
12 ଚତୁର ଲୋକ ବିପଦ ଦେଖି ଆପଣାକୁ ଲୁଚାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଅସତର୍କ ଲୋକ ଆଗ ବଢ଼ି ଶାସ୍ତି ପାଏ।
The prudent hath seen the evil, he is hidden, The simple have passed on, they are punished.
13 ଅପରିଚିତ ଲୋକ ପାଇଁ ଯେ ଲଗା ହୁଏ, ତାହାର ବସ୍ତ୍ର ନିଅ; ପୁଣି, ଯେ ପରସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ପାଇଁ ଜାମିନ୍ ହୁଏ, ତାହାକୁ ବନ୍ଧକ ରଖ।
Take his garment, when a stranger hath been surety, And for a strange woman pledge it.
14 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଅତି ପ୍ରଭାତରେ ଉଠି ଆପଣା ମିତ୍ରକୁ ଉଚ୍ଚ ରବରେ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ କରେ, ତାହାର ସେହି କର୍ମ ତାହା ପ୍ରତି ଅଭିଶାପ ରୂପେ ଗଣିତ ହେବ।
Whoso is saluting his friend with a loud voice, In the morning rising early, A light thing it is reckoned to him.
15 ଭାରୀ ବୃଷ୍ଟି ଦିନରେ ଅବିରତ ବିନ୍ଦୁପାତ ଓ କଳିହୁଡ଼ୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ, ଏ ଦୁଇ ଏକ ସମାନ ଅଟନ୍ତି।
A continual dropping in a day of rain, And a woman of contentions are alike,
16 ଯେ ତାକୁ ଅଟକାଏ, ସେ ବାୟୁକୁ ଅଟକାଏ ଓ ତାହାର ଦକ୍ଷିଣ ହସ୍ତ ତୈଳ ଉପରେ ପଡ଼େ।
Whoso is hiding her hath hidden the wind, And the ointment of his right hand calleth out.
17 ଯେପରି ଲୁହା ଲୁହାକୁ ସତେଜ କରେ, ସେପରି ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ବନ୍ଧୁର ମୁଖ ସତେଜ କରେ।
Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend.
18 ଯେକେହି ଡିମ୍ବିରିବୃକ୍ଷ ରକ୍ଷା କରେ, ସେ ତହିଁର ଫଳ ଖାଏ; ପୁଣି, ଯେ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରଭୁ ପ୍ରତି ମନୋଯୋଗୀ ଥାଏ, ସେ ସମ୍ମାନ ପାଏ।
The keeper of a fig-tree eateth its fruit, And the preserver of his master is honoured.
19 ଯେପରି ଜଳ ମୁଖକୁ ମୁଖ ଦେଖାଏ, ସେପରି ହୃଦୟ ମନୁଷ୍ୟକୁ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଦେଖାଏ।
As [in] water the face [is] to face, So the heart of man to man.
20 ଯେପରି ପାତାଳ ଓ ବିନାଶ ସ୍ଥାନ କେତେବେଳେ ତୃପ୍ତ ନୁହେଁ, ସେପରି ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ଇଚ୍ଛାସକଳ କେତେବେଳେ ତୃପ୍ତ ନୁହେଁ। (Sheol h7585)
Sheol and destruction are not satisfied, And the eyes of man are not satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
21 କୋୟିରେ ରୂପା, ଉହ୍ମାଇରେ ସୁନା, ପ୍ରଶଂସାରେ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ପରୀକ୍ଷିତ ହୁଏ।
A refining pot [is] for silver, and a furnace for gold, And a man according to his praise.
22 ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଗହମ ସହିତ ଅଜ୍ଞାନକୁ ଢିଙ୍କିରେ କୁଟିଲେ ହେଁ ତାହାର ଅଜ୍ଞାନତା ଛାଡ଼ିଯିବ ନାହିଁ।
If thou dost beat the foolish in a mortar, Among washed things — with a pestle, His folly turneth not aside from off him.
23 ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା ମେଷପଲର ଅବସ୍ଥା ଜାଣିବା ପାଇଁ ଯତ୍ନବାନ ହୁଅ, ପୁଣି ଆପଣା ପଶୁପଲ ବିଷୟରେ ଉତ୍ତମ ରୂପେ ମନୋଯୋଗ କର।
Know well the face of thy flock, Set thy heart to the droves,
24 କାରଣ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ଅନନ୍ତକାଳସ୍ଥାୟୀ ନୁହେଁ ଓ ମୁକୁଟ କʼଣ ପୁରୁଷାନୁକ୍ରମରେ ଥାଏ?
For riches [are] not to the age, Nor a crown to generation and generation.
25 ଘାସ କଟା ହେଲେ କଅଁଳ ଘାସ ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଏ, ଆଉ ପର୍ବତମାନର ତୃଣ ସଂଗୃହୀତ ହୁଏ।
Revealed was the hay, and seen the tender grass, And gathered the herbs of mountains.
26 ମେଷଛୁଆମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଦେବେ; ପୁଣି, ଛେଳି ତୁମ୍ଭ କ୍ଷେତ୍ରର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ଅଟେ।
Lambs [are] for thy clothing, And the price of the field [are] he-goats,
27 ପୁଣି, ଛେଳିଦୁଧ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପରିବାରର ଭକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ପାଇଁ ଯଥେଷ୍ଟ ହେବ; ଆଉ, ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦାସୀମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଉପଜୀବିକା ହେବ।
And a sufficiency of goats' milk [is] for thy bread, For bread to thy house, and life to thy damsels!
