ହିତୋପଦେଶ 21
1 ରାଜାର ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ଜଳପ୍ରଣାଳୀ ତୁଲ୍ୟ ଥାଏ; ସେ ଯେଉଁଆଡ଼େ ଇଚ୍ଛା, ସେଆଡ଼େ ତାହା ଫେରାନ୍ତି।
The king’s heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ସବୁ ଗତି ଆପଣା ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଯଥାର୍ଥ, ମାତ୍ର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ହୃଦୟସବୁ ତୌଲନ୍ତି।
Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 ବଳିଦାନ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ନ୍ୟାୟ ଓ ସୁବିଚାର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଅଧିକ ଗ୍ରାହ୍ୟ।
To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରଦୀପ ସ୍ୱରୂପ ଯେ ଅହଙ୍କାର-ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ଓ ଗର୍ବିତ ମନ, ତାହା ପାପଜନକ।
An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
5 କର୍ମଶୀଳର ସଂକଳ୍ପରୁ କେବଳ ପ୍ରଚୁରତା ଜନ୍ମେ ମାତ୍ର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ହଠାତ୍ କର୍ମକାରୀ କେବଳ ଅଭାବ ଆଡ଼େ ଯାଏ।
The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
6 ମିଥ୍ୟାବାଦୀ ଓଷ୍ଠ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ଧନ ଏଣେତେଣେ ଚାଳିତ ବାଷ୍ପ ତୁଲ୍ୟ, ଯେଉଁମାନେ ତାହା ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁ ଅନ୍ୱେଷଣ କରନ୍ତି।
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କର ଦୌରାତ୍ମ୍ୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଡ଼ାଇ ଘେନିଯିବ; ଯେହେତୁ ସେମାନେ ନ୍ୟାୟ କରିବାକୁ ନାସ୍ତି କରନ୍ତି।
The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 ଦୋଷରେ ଭାରାକ୍ରାନ୍ତ ଲୋକର ପଥ ଅତିଶୟ ବକ୍ର; ମାତ୍ର ପବିତ୍ର ଲୋକର କର୍ମ ସଳଖ।
The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
9 କଳିହୁଡ଼ୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ପ୍ରଶସ୍ତ ଗୃହରେ ବାସ କରିବା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଛାତର ଏକ କୋଣରେ ବାସ କରିବା ଭଲ।
[It is] better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକର ମନ ଅନିଷ୍ଟ ପାଞ୍ଚେ, ପୁଣି, ତାହାର ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ତାହାର ପ୍ରତିବାସୀ କିଛି ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଏ ନାହିଁ।
The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 ନିନ୍ଦକକୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦେଲେ, ନିର୍ବୋଧ ଲୋକ ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନ ହୁଏ; ପୁଣି, ବୁଦ୍ଧିମାନକୁ ବୁଝାଇଦେଲେ, ସେ ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ ହୁଏ।
When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 ଧାର୍ମିକ ଲୋକ ଦୁଷ୍ଟର ବଂଶ ବିଷୟ ବିବେଚନା କରେ; ସେହି ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକମାନେ କିପରି ଉତ୍ପାଟିତ ହୋଇ ସର୍ବନାଶ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ଏହା ସୁବିବେଚନା କରେ।
The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
13 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଦୀନହୀନର ଡାକରେ କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରୁଦ୍ଧ କରେ, ସେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆପେ ଡାକିବ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଉତ୍ତର ପାଇବ ନାହିଁ।
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 ଗୁପ୍ତରେ ଦାନ ଦେଲେ କ୍ରୋଧ ଶାନ୍ତ ହୁଏ, ପୁଣି, ଅଣ୍ଟିରେ ଦତ୍ତ ଲାଞ୍ଚ ପ୍ରଚଣ୍ଡ କୋପ ଶାନ୍ତ କରେ।
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 ନ୍ୟାୟ ଆଚରଣ ଧାର୍ମିକ ପ୍ରତି ଆନନ୍ଦର ବିଷୟ; ମାତ୍ର ତାହା କୁକର୍ମକାରୀମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ବିନାଶଜନକ।
[It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
16 ଯେ ବୁଦ୍ଧିର ପଥ ଛାଡ଼ି ଭ୍ରମଣ କରେ, ସେ ପ୍ରେତମାନଙ୍କ ସଭାରେ ବାସ କରିବ।
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଆମୋଦ ଭଲ ପାଏ, ସେ ଦରିଦ୍ର ହେବ; ପୁଣି, ଯେ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ଓ ତୈଳ ଭଲ ପାଏ, ସେ ଧନବାନ ହେବ ନାହିଁ।
He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକ ଧାର୍ମିକର ମୁକ୍ତିର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ସ୍ୱରୂପ; ପୁଣି, ବିଶ୍ୱାସଘାତକ ସରଳ ଲୋକଙ୍କର ବଦଳି ସ୍ୱରୂପ।
The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 କଳହକାରିଣୀ ଓ ଚିଡ଼ିଚିଡ଼ିଆ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ସଙ୍ଗରେ ବାସ କରିବା ଅପେକ୍ଷା ନିର୍ଜନ ଭୂମିରେ ବସତି କରିବାର ଭଲ।
[It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 ଜ୍ଞାନବାନର ଗୃହରେ ବହୁମୂଲ୍ୟ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ଓ ତୈଳ ଥାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ମୂର୍ଖ ଲୋକ ତାହା ଗ୍ରାସ କରେ।
[There is] treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 ଯେଉଁ ଜନ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ଓ ଦୟାର ପଶ୍ଚାଦ୍ବର୍ତ୍ତୀ, ସେ ଜୀବନ ଓ ଧାର୍ମିକତା ଓ ସମ୍ମାନ ପାଏ।
He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ଲୋକ ବଳବାନର ନଗରରେ ଚଢ଼ି ପ୍ରବେଶ କରେ, ପୁଣି, ତହିଁର ସାହସଦାୟୀ ବଳ ତଳକୁ ଆଣେ।
A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 ଯେ ଆପଣା ମୁଖ ଓ ଜିହ୍ୱା ରକ୍ଷା କରେ, ସେ କ୍ଳେଶରୁ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରାଣ ରକ୍ଷା କରେ।
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 ଅହଙ୍କାରୀ ଓ ଦାମ୍ଭିକ ଲୋକ ନିନ୍ଦକ ନାମରେ ବିଖ୍ୟାତ, ସେ ଅହଙ୍କାରର ଗାରିମାରେ କର୍ମ କରେ।
Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 ଅଳସୁଆର ବାଞ୍ଛିତ ବିଷୟ ତାହାର ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁ ଘଟାଏ; କାରଣ ତାହାର ହସ୍ତ କର୍ମ କରିବାକୁ ନାସ୍ତି କରେ।
The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 କେହି କେହି ଦିନସାରା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଲୋଭ କରନ୍ତି; ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକ ଲୋକ ଦାନ କରେ, କାତର ହୁଏ ନାହିଁ।
He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କର ବଳିଦାନ ଘୃଣାର ବିଷୟ, ମାତ୍ର ସେ କୁଅଭିପ୍ରାୟରେ ଆଣିଲେ ତାହା କେତେ ଅଧିକ ଘୃଣିତ।
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 ମିଥ୍ୟାସାକ୍ଷୀ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେବ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଶୁଣେ, ସେ ଅଖଣ୍ଡ୍ୟ କଥା କହିବ।
A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ମୁଖ କଠିନ କରେ, ମାତ୍ର ସରଳ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ବାଟ ସୁସ୍ଥିର କରେ।
A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
30 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ କୌଣସି ଜ୍ଞାନ କିମ୍ବା ବୁଦ୍ଧି କିମ୍ବା ମନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ନାହିଁ।
[There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 ଯୁଦ୍ଧ ଦିନ ପାଇଁ ଅଶ୍ୱ ସୁସଜ୍ଜିତ ହୁଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଜୟ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରୁ ହୁଏ।
The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] of the LORD.
