ହିତୋପଦେଶ 12
1 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ଅନୁଶାସନ ଭଲ ପାଏ, ସେ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଭଲ ପାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଅନୁଯୋଗ ଘୃଣା କରେ, ସେ ପଶୁ ତୁଲ୍ୟ।
He that loves instruction loves sense, but he that hates reproofs is a fool.
2 ସତ୍ଲୋକ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଅନୁଗ୍ରହ ପାଇବ, ମାତ୍ର କୁକଳ୍ପନାକାରୀକୁ ସେ ଦୋଷୀ କରିବେ।
He that has found favor with the Lord [is made] better; but a transgressor shall be passed over in silence.
3 ଦୁଷ୍ଟତା ଦ୍ୱାରା କୌଣସି ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ସୁସ୍ଥିର ହେବ ନାହିଁ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଧାର୍ମିକର ମୂଳ କେବେ ଘୁଞ୍ଚା ଯିବ ନାହିଁ।
A man shall not prosper by wickedness; but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.
4 ଗୁଣବତୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଆପଣା ସ୍ୱାମୀର ମୁକୁଟ ସ୍ୱରୂପ; ମାତ୍ର ଲଜ୍ଜାଦାୟିନୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ ତାହାର ହାଡ଼ସବୁର କ୍ଷୟ ସ୍ୱରୂପ।
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but as a worm in wood, so a bad woman destroys her husband.
5 ଧାର୍ମିକମାନଙ୍କର ସଂକଳ୍ପ ଯଥାର୍ଥ; ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କର ପରାମର୍ଶ ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନାଯୁକ୍ତ।
The thoughts of the righteous [are true] judgments; but ungodly men devise deceits.
6 ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନେ ରକ୍ତପାତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଛକି ବସିବାର କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ମାତ୍ର ସରଳ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କର ମୁଖ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରେ।
The words of ungodly men are crafty; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନେ ଉତ୍ପାଟିତ ହୋଇ ଆଉ ନ ଥାଆନ୍ତି, ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକମାନଙ୍କର ଗୃହ ସ୍ଥାୟୀ ହେବ।
When the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away; but the houses of the just remain.
8 ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ସୁବୁଦ୍ଧି ଅନୁସାରେ ପ୍ରଶଂସା ପାଇବ, ମାତ୍ର ଯାହାର କୁଟିଳ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣ, ସେ ତୁଚ୍ଛୀକୃତ ହେବ।
The mouth of an understanding [man] is praised by a man; but he that is dull of heart is had in derision.
9 ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ତୁଚ୍ଛୀକୃତ, ଆଉ ଯାହାର ଦାସ ଅଛି, ସେ ଖାଦ୍ୟହୀନ ଆତ୍ମପ୍ରଶଂସୀଠାରୁ ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ।
Better is a man in dishonor serving himself, than one honouring himself and lacking bread.
10 ଧାର୍ମିକ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ପଶୁର ପ୍ରାଣକୁ ଆଦର କରେ, ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କର କରୁଣା ନିଷ୍ଠୁର।
A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle; but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.
11 ଯେ ଆପଣା ଭୂମି ଚାଷ କରେ, ସେ ଯଥେଷ୍ଟ ଆହାର ପାଇବ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଅସାର ବିଷୟରେ ପ୍ରବୃତ୍ତ ହୁଏ, ସେ ବୁଦ୍ଧିହୀନ।
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread; but they that pursue vanities are void of understanding. He that enjoys himself in banquets of wine, shall leave dishonor in his own strong holds.
12 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକ କୁକର୍ମକାରୀମାନଙ୍କ ଜାଲକୁ ଲୋଭ କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକର ମୂଳ ଫଳଦାୟକ।
The desires of the ungodly are evil; but the roots of the godly are firmly set.
13 ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଆପଣା ଓଷ୍ଠର ଅଧର୍ମ ସକାଶୁ ଫାନ୍ଦରେ ପଡିଥାଏ, ମାତ୍ର ଧାର୍ମିକ ଦୁଃଖରୁ ଉଦ୍ଧାର ପାଇବ।
For the sin of [his] lips a sinner falls into snare; but a righteous man escapes from them. He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.
14 ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଆପଣା ମୁଖର ଫଳ ଦ୍ୱାରା ମଙ୍ଗଳରେ ପରିତୃପ୍ତ ହେବ, ପୁଣି, ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ହସ୍ତକୃତ କର୍ମଫଳ ତାହାକୁ ଦିଆଯିବ।
The soul of a man shall be filled with good from the fruits of his mouth; and the recompence of his lips shall be given to him.
15 ଅଜ୍ଞାନର ପଥ ତାହାର ନିଜ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଯଥାର୍ଥ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେ ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ, ସେ ପରାମର୍ଶ ଶୁଣେ।
The ways of fools are right in their own eyes; but a wise man hearkens to counsels.
16 ଅଜ୍ଞାନର ବିରକ୍ତି ହଠାତ୍ ପ୍ରକାଶ ପାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଚତୁର ଲୋକ ଲଜ୍ଜା ଢାଙ୍କେ।
A fool declares his wrath the same day; but a prudent man hides his own disgrace.
17 ସତ୍ୟ ସାକ୍ଷୀ ନ୍ୟାୟ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ମିଥ୍ୟାସାକ୍ଷୀ ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ।
A righteous man declares the open truth; but an unjust witness is deceitful.
18 କାହାର କାହାର ବାଚାଳତା ଖଡ୍ଗାଘାତ ପରି; ମାତ୍ର ଜ୍ଞାନୀର ଜିହ୍ୱା ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟଜନକ।
Some wound as they speak, [like] swords; but the tongues of the wise heal.
19 ସତ୍ୟବାଦୀ ଓଷ୍ଠ ନିତ୍ୟସ୍ଥାୟୀ ହେବ; ମାତ୍ର ମିଥ୍ୟାବାଦୀ ଜିହ୍ୱା ପଲକ ମାତ୍ର।
True lips establish testimony; but a hasty witness has an unjust tongue.
20 ଅନିଷ୍ଟ ଚିନ୍ତାକାରୀର ହୃଦୟରେ ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନା ଥାଏ; ମାତ୍ର ଶାନ୍ତି-ପରାମର୍ଶଦାତାମାନଙ୍କର ଆନନ୍ଦ ହୁଏ।
[There is] deceit in the heart of him that imagines evil; but they that love peace shall rejoice.
21 ଧାର୍ମିକ ପ୍ରତି କୌଣସି ବିପଦ ଘଟିବ ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଲୋକ ଅନିଷ୍ଟରେ ପରିପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ହେବ।
No injustice will please a just man; but the ungodly will be filled with mischief.
22 ମିଥ୍ୟାବାଦୀ ଓଷ୍ଠ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଘୃଣା ବିଷୟ; ମାତ୍ର ଯେଉଁମାନେ ସତ୍ୟ ବ୍ୟବହାର କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କର ତୁଷ୍ଟିକର।
Lying lips are a abomination to the Lord; but he that deals faithfully is accepted with him.
23 ଚତୁର ଲୋକ ଜ୍ଞାନ ଆଚ୍ଛାଦନ କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ମୂର୍ଖମାନଙ୍କର ମନ ଅଜ୍ଞାନତା ପ୍ରକାଶ କରେ।
An understanding man is a throne of wisdom; but the heart of fools shall meet with curses.
24 କର୍ମଶୀଳର ହସ୍ତ କର୍ତ୍ତୃତ୍ୱ କରିବ; ମାତ୍ର ଅଳସୁଆ ଲୋକ ବେଠି କରିବ।
The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.
25 ମନୁଷ୍ୟର ଚିନ୍ତା ମନକୁ ନତ କରେ; ମାତ୍ର ମଙ୍ଗଳର ବାକ୍ୟ ତାହାର ହରଷ ଜନ୍ମାଏ।
A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.
26 ଧାର୍ମିକ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସୀର ପଥଦର୍ଶକ; ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଷ୍ଟମାନଙ୍କ ପଥ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭୁଲାଏ।
A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.
27 ଅଳସୁଆ ମୃଗୟାରେ ଧରିଲା ପଶୁକୁ ପାକ କରେ ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ମନୁଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କର ବହୁମୂଲ୍ୟ ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ପରିଶ୍ରମୀର ପକ୍ଷରେ।
A deceitful man shall catch no game; but a blameless man is a precious possession.
28 ଧାର୍ମିକତାରୂପ ପଥରେ ଜୀବନ ଥାଏ; ପୁଣି, ତହିଁର ଗମନ-ମାର୍ଗରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁ ନ ଥାଏ।
In the ways of righteousness is life; but the ways of those that remember injuries [lead] to death.
