ମାଥିଉ 3
1 ସେହି କାଳରେ ବାପ୍ତିଜକ ଯୋହନ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇ ଯିହୂଦିୟା ପ୍ରଦେଶର ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଘୋଷଣା କରି କହିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ,
Now, in those days, came John the Immerser, proclaiming in the wilderness of Judaea;
2 “ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କର, କାରଣ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗରାଜ୍ୟ ସନ୍ନିକଟ।”
saying, Repent ye, —for the kingdom of the heavens hath drawn near.
3 ଯିଶାଇୟ ଭାବବାଦୀ ଯାହାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ କହିଥିଲେ, “ଏ ସେହି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି, ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଉଚ୍ଚ ଶବ୍ଦ କରୁଥିବା ଜଣକର ସ୍ୱର, ‘ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପଥ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କର, ତାହାଙ୍କ ରାଜଦାଣ୍ଡ ସଳଖ କର।’”
For, this, is he who was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, A voice, of one crying aloud! In the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, straight, be making his paths.
4 ସେହି ଯୋହନ ଓଟ ଲୋମର ବସ୍ତ୍ର ପିନ୍ଧୁଥିଲେ ଓ ଆପଣା ଅଣ୍ଟାରେ ଚର୍ମପଟୁକା ବାନ୍ଧୁଥିଲେ, ପୁଣି, ତାହାଙ୍କ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ପଙ୍ଗପାଳ (କ୍ୟାରବ ବୃକ୍ଷର ଫଳ) ଓ ବନମଧୁ ଥିଲା।
But John, himself, had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins, —while, his food, was locusts and wild honey.
5 ସେତେବେଳେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ଯିହୂଦିୟା ପ୍ରଦେଶ ପୁଣି, ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀ ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସମସ୍ତ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଲୋକମାନେ ବାହାରି ତାହାଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଆସିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ,
Then, were going forth unto him—Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the country round about the Jordan:
6 ଆଉ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ପାପ ସ୍ୱୀକାର କରି ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀରେ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଲେ।
and were being immersed in the Jordan river, by him, openly confessing their sins.
7 କିନ୍ତୁ ଫାରୂଶୀ ଓ ସାଦ୍ଦୂକୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅନେକେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ଏହା ଦେଖି ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ରେ କାଳସର୍ପର ବଂଶ, ଆଗାମୀ କ୍ରୋଧରୁ ପଳାୟନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ କିଏ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚେତନା ଦେଲା?
But, seeing, many of the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming unto his immersion, he said to them, —Broods of vipers! who suggested to you, to be fleeing from the coming wrath?
8 ଏଣୁ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନର ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ ଫଳ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ କର,
Bring forth, therefore, fruit worthy of repentance;
9 ପୁଣି, ଅବ୍ରହାମ ତ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପିତା, ମନେ ମନେ ଏପରି କହିବାକୁ ଭାବ ନାହିଁ, କାରଣ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହୁଅଛି, ଈଶ୍ବର ଏହି ପଥରଗୁଡ଼ାକରୁ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସନ୍ତାନ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ କରିପାରନ୍ତି।
and think not to be saying within yourselves, —As our father, we have, Abraham; for, I say unto you, that God is able, out of these stones, to raise up children unto Abraham.
10 ଆଉ ଏବେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଗଛଗୁଡ଼ିକ ମୂଳରେ କୁରାଢ଼ୀ ଲାଗିଅଛି; ଅତଏବ ଯେକୌଣସି ଗଛ ଭଲ ଫଳ ନ ଫଳେ, ତାହା ହଣାଯାଇ ନିଆଁରେ ପକାଯିବ।
Already also, the axe, unto the root of the trees, is being laid, —every tree, therefore, not bringing forth good fruit, is to be hewn down, and, into fire, to be cast.
11 ମୁଁ ସିନା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜଳରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଉଅଛି, ମାତ୍ର ମୋ ପରେ ଯେ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେ ମୋʼଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଶକ୍ତିମାନ, ତାହାଙ୍କ ପାଦୁକା ବହନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ; ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଓ ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେବେ।
I, indeed, am immersing you, in water, unto repentance, —but, he who, after me, cometh is, mightier than I, whose, sandals, I am not worthy to bear, he, will immerse you, in Holy Spirit and fire:
12 ତାହାଙ୍କ ହାତରେ କୁଲା ଅଛି, ଆଉ ସେ ନିଜ ଖଳା ଉତ୍ତମଭାବେ ପରିଷ୍କାର କରି ଆପଣା ଗହମ ଅମାରରେ ଏକାଠି କରି ରଖିବେ, କିନ୍ତୁ ଅଗାଡ଼ିଯାକ ଲିଭୁ ନ ଥିବା ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ପୋଡ଼ି ପକାଇବେ।”
Whose fan is in his hand, and he will clear out his threshing-floor, —and will gather his wheat into the granary, but, the chaff, will he burn up with fire unquenchable.
13 ସେତେବେଳେ ଯୀଶୁ ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଗାଲିଲୀରୁ ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀକୁ ଆସିଲେ।
Then, cometh Jesus, from Galilee to the Jordan, unto John, —to be immersed by him.
14 କିନ୍ତୁ ଯୋହନ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ମନା କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରି କହିଲେ, “ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେବା ମୋହର ଆବଶ୍ୟକ, ଆଉ ଆପଣ ମୋ ନିକଟକୁ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି?”
But, he, would have hindered him, saying—I, have, need, by thee, to be immersed, —and dost, thou, come unto me?
15 ମାତ୍ର ଯୀଶୁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ଏବେ ରାଜି ହୁଅ, କାରଣ ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଧର୍ମକର୍ମ ସାଧନ କରିବା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଉଚିତ।” ସେଥିରେ ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କ କଥାରେ ରାଜି ହେଲେ।
But Jesus answering, said unto him, Suffer [me] even now, —for, thus, it becometh us, to fulfil, all righteousness; then, he suffered him.
16 ଯୀଶୁ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଲାକ୍ଷଣି ଜଳରୁ ଉଠି ଆସିଲେ, ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ଆକାଶ ଉନ୍ମୁକ୍ତ ହେଲା, ପୁଣି, ସେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଆତ୍ମାଙ୍କୁ କପୋତ ପରି ଅବତରଣ କରି ଆପଣା ଉପରକୁ ଆସିବା ଦେଖିଲେ।
And Jesus, having been immersed, straightway, went up from the water, —and lo! the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God, descending like a dove coming upon him;
17 ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ଆକାଶରୁ ଏହି ବାଣୀ ହେଲା, “ଏ ଆମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରିୟ ପୁତ୍ର, ଏହାଙ୍କଠାରେ ଆମ୍ଭର ପରମ ସନ୍ତୋଷ।”
and lo! a voice out of the heavens, —saying, This, is my Son, the Beloved, in whom I delight.
