1 ତିବିରୀୟା କାଇସରଙ୍କ ଶାସନର ପନ୍ଦର ବର୍ଷରେ, ଯେତେବେଳେ ପନ୍ତିୟ ପୀଲାତ ଯିହୂଦିୟା ପ୍ରଦେଶର ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା ଓ ହେରୋଦ ଗାଲିଲୀର ସାମନ୍ତରାଜା ଥିଲେ, ଆଉ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଭାଇ ଫିଲିପ୍ପ ଈତୂରୀୟା ଓ ତ୍ରାଖୋନୀତି ପ୍ରଦେଶର, ପୁଣି, ଲୂସାନୀୟା ଅବିଲୀନୀର ସାମନ୍ତରାଜା ଥିଲେ
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Cæsar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judæa, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
2 ଏବଂ ହାନାନ ଓ କୟାଫା ମହାଯାଜକ ଥିଲେ, ସେତେବେଳେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଜିଖରୀୟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା।
Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
3 ସେଥିରେ ସେ ଯର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀର ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସମସ୍ତ ଅଞ୍ଚଳକୁ ଯାଇ ପାପ କ୍ଷମା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନର ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଘୋଷଣା କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ,
And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
4 ଯେପରି ଯିଶାଇୟ ଭାବବାଦୀଙ୍କ ଶାସ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଲିଖିତ ଅଛି, ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ଉଚ୍ଚ ଶବ୍ଦ କରୁଥିବା ଜଣକର ସ୍ୱର, ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପଥ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କର, ତାହାଙ୍କ ରାଜପଥ ସଳଖ କର;
As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
5 ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଉପତ୍ୟକା ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କରାଯିବ, ପୁଣି, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ପର୍ବତ ଓ ଉପପର୍ବତ ନୀଚ କରାଯିବ, ବକ୍ର ପଥସବୁ ସିଧା ହେବ, ଆଉ ଉଚ୍ଚ ନୀଚ ଭୂମି ସମତଳ ପଥରେ ପରିଣତ ହେବ;
Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways [shall be] made smooth;
6 ପୁଣି, ସମସ୍ତ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପରିତ୍ରାଣ ଦେଖିବେ।
And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
7 ଅତଏବ, ଯୋହନ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ବାହାରି ଆସୁଥିବା ଲୋକସମୂହକୁ କହିଲେ, ରେ କାଳସର୍ପର ବଂଶ, ଆଗାମୀ କ୍ରୋଧରୁ ପଳାୟନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ କିଏ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚେତନା ଦେଲା?
Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 ଏଣୁ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନର ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ ଫଳ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ କର; ପୁଣି, ଅବ୍ରହାମ ତ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ପିତା, ମନେ ମନେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଏପରି କୁହ ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହୁଅଛି, ଈଶ୍ବର ଏହି ପଥରଗୁଡ଼ାକରୁ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସନ୍ତାନ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ କରିପାରନ୍ତି।
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to [our] father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 ଆଉ, ଏବେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଗଛଗୁଡ଼ାକ ମୂଳରେ କୁରାଢ଼ୀ ଲାଗିଅଛି; ଅତଏବ ଯେକୌଣସି ଗଛ ଭଲ ଫଳ ନ ଫଳେ, ତାହା ହଣାଯାଇ ନିଆଁରେ ପକାଯିବ।
And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 ଏଥିରେ ଲୋକସମୂହ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ତାହାହେଲେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କଅଣ କରିବା?
And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଯାହାର ଦୁଇଟି ଅଙ୍ଗରଖା ଅଛି, ସେ ଯାହାର ନାହିଁ, ତାହାକୁ ଗୋଟିଏ ଦେଉ; ପୁଣି, ଯାହାର ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଅଛି, ସେ ସେହିପରି କରୁ।
He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 କରଗ୍ରାହୀମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ପାଇବାକୁ ଆସି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, ହେ ଗୁରୁ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କଅଣ କରିବା?
Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଯେତିକି ନିୟମ ଅଛି, ତାହାଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ଆଦାୟ କର ନାହିଁ।
And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 ସୈନିକମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ, ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କଅଣ କରିବା? ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ବଳରେ କି ଛଳରେ କାହାର ଧନ ହରଣ କର ନାହିଁ, ପୁଣି, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବେତନରେ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ହୋଇଥାଅ।
And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse [any] falsely; and be content with your wages.
15 ଲୋକେ ଅପେକ୍ଷାରେ ଥିବାରୁ ଓ ଯୋହନ କେଜାଣି ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ହେବେ, ଏହା ତାହାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ମନରେ ତର୍କବିତର୍କ କରୁଥିବାରୁ,
And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;
16 ଯୋହନ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ମୁଁ ସିନା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଜଳରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଉଅଛି, ମାତ୍ର ମୋʼଠାରୁ ଯେ ଅଧିକ ଶକ୍ତିମାନ, ସେ ଆସୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ତାହାଙ୍କର ପାଦୁକାର ବନ୍ଧନ ଫିଟାଇବାକୁ ମୁଁ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ; ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା ଓ ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେବେ।
John answered, saying unto [them] all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
17 ଆପଣା ଖଳା ଉତ୍ତମ ରୂପେ ପରିଷ୍କାର କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଓ ନିଜ ଅମାରରେ ଗହମ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରି ରଖିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ହାତରେ କୁଲା ଅଛି, କିନ୍ତୁ ଅଗାଡ଼ିଯାକ ସେ ଅନନ୍ତ ଅଗ୍ନିରେ ପୋଡ଼ିପକାଇବେ।
Whose fan [is] in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.
18 ସେ ଏହିପରି ଅନେକ ଉପଦେଶ ଦେଇ, ପୁଣି, ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାର ଉତ୍ସାହଜନକ ବାକ୍ୟ କହି ଲୋକଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସୁସମ୍ବାଦ ପ୍ରଚାର କରୁଥିଲେ;
And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.
19 କିନ୍ତୁ ସାମନ୍ତରାଜା ହେରୋଦ ନିଜ ଭାଇଙ୍କ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ହେରୋଦିଆଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଏବଂ ନିଜେ କରିଥିବା ସମସ୍ତ ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମ ବିଷୟରେ ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଅନୁଯୋଗ ପାଇବାରୁ,
But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done,
20 ସେ ଯୋହନଙ୍କୁ କାରାଗାରରେ ବନ୍ଦୀ କରି ନିଜର ସମସ୍ତ ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମ ସହିତ ଏହା ମଧ୍ୟ ଯୋଗ କଲେ।
Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.
21 ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହେଲା ପରେ ଯୀଶୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହୋଇ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରୁଥିବା ସମୟରେ ଆକାଶ ଖୋଲା ହେଲା,
Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22 ପୁଣି, ପବିତ୍ର ଆତ୍ମା କପୋତର ଦେହ ଧାରଣ କରି ତାହାଙ୍କ ଉପରକୁ ଓହ୍ଲାଇ ଆସିଲେ; ଆଉ ଆକାଶରୁ ଏହି ବାଣୀ ହେଲା, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରିୟ ପୁତ୍ର, ତୁମ୍ଭଠାରେ ଆମ୍ଭର ପରମ ସନ୍ତୋଷ।
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
23 ଯୀଶୁ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିବା ସମୟରେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରାୟ ତିରିଶ ବର୍ଷ ବୟସ ହୋଇଥିଲା; ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଧାରଣାନୁସାରେ ସେ ଯୋଷେଫଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର; ଯୋଷେଫ ଏଲୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was [the son] of Heli,
24 ଏଲୀ ମତ୍ଥାତଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମତ୍ଥାତ ଲେବୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଲେବୀ ମଲ୍ଖୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମଲ୍ଖୀ ଯନ୍ନୟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯନ୍ନୟ ଯୋଷେଫଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Matthat, which was [the son] of Levi, which was [the son] of Melchi, which was [the son] of Janna, which was [the son] of Joseph,
25 ଯୋଷେଫ ମତ୍ତିଥ୍ୟାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମତ୍ତିଥ୍ୟା ଆମୋସଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଆମୋସ ନାହୂମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ନାହୂମ ହେସ୍ଲୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ହେସ୍ଲୀ ନଗୟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Mattathias, which was [the son] of Amos, which was [the son] of Naum, which was [the son] of Esli, which was [the son] of Nagge,
26 ନଗୟ ମହଥଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମହଥ ମତ୍ତିଥ୍ୟାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମତ୍ତିଥ୍ୟା ଶିମୟୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଶିମୟୀ ଯୋସେଖଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯୋସେଖ ଯୋଦାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Maath, which was [the son] of Mattathias, which was [the son] of Semei, which was [the son] of Joseph, which was [the son] of Juda,
27 ଯୋଦା ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯୋହନ ରେଷାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ରେଷା ଜିରୁବାବିଲଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଜିରୁବାବିଲ ଶଲ୍ଟୀୟେଲ୍ଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଶଲ୍ଟୀୟେଲ୍ ନେରୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Joanna, which was [the son] of Rhesa, which was [the son] of Zorobabel, which was [the son] of Salathiel, which was [the son] of Neri,
28 ନେରୀ ମଲ୍ଖୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମଲ୍ଖୀ ଅଦ୍ଦୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଅଦ୍ଦୀ କୋସାମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, କୋସାମ ଏଲ୍ମଦାନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଏଲ୍ମଦାନ ଏରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Melchi, which was [the son] of Addi, which was [the son] of Cosam, which was [the son] of Elmodam, which was [the son] of Er,
29 ଏର ଯିହୋଶୂୟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯିହୋଶୂୟ ଏଲୀୟାଜରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଏଲୀୟାଜର ଯୋରୀମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯୋରୀମ ମତ୍ଥାତଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମତ୍ଥାତ ଲେବୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Jose, which was [the son] of Eliezer, which was [the son] of Jorim, which was [the son] of Matthat, which was [the son] of Levi,
30 ଲେବୀ ଶିମିୟୋନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଶିମିୟୋନ ଯିହୂଦାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯିହୂଦା ଯୋଷେଫଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯୋଷେଫ ଯୋନାମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯୋନାମ ଏଲୀୟାକୀମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Simeon, which was [the son] of Juda, which was [the son] of Joseph, which was [the son] of Jonan, which was [the son] of Eliakim,
31 ଏଲୀୟାକୀମ ମଲାହଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମଲାହ ମନ୍ନାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମନ୍ନା ମତ୍ତଥାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମତ୍ତଥା ନାଥନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ନାଥନ ଦାଉଦଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Melea, which was [the son] of Menan, which was [the son] of Mattatha, which was [the son] of Nathan, which was [the son] of David,
32 ଦାଉଦ ଯିଶୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯିଶୀ ଓବେଦଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଓବେଦ ବୋୟଜଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ବୋୟଜ ଶେଲହଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଶେଲହ ନହଶୋନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Jesse, which was [the son] of Obed, which was [the son] of Booz, which was [the son] of Salmon, which was [the son] of Naasson,
33 ନହଶୋନ ଅମ୍ମୀନାଦାବଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଅମ୍ମୀନାଦାବ ଅଦ୍ମୀନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଅଦ୍ମୀନ ଅର୍ଣ୍ଣୀଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଅର୍ଣ୍ଣୀ ହିଷ୍ରୋଣଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ହିଷ୍ରୋଣ ପେରସଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ପେରସ ଯିହୂଦାଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Aminadab, which was [the son] of Aram, which was [the son] of Esrom, which was [the son] of Phares, which was [the son] of Juda,
34 ଯିହୂଦା ଯାକୁବଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯାକୁବ ଇସ୍ହାକଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଇସ୍ହାକ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଅବ୍ରହାମ ତେରହଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ତେରହ ନାହୋରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Jacob, which was [the son] of Isaac, which was [the son] of Abraham, which was [the son] of Thara, which was [the son] of Nachor,
35 ନାହୋର ସରୁଗଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ସରୁଗ ରଗୁଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ରଗୁ ଫେଲଗଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଫେଲଗ ଏବରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଏବର ଶେଲହଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Saruch, which was [the son] of Ragau, which was [the son] of Phalec, which was [the son] of Heber, which was [the son] of Sala,
36 ଶେଲହ କେନାନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, କେନାନ ଅର୍ଫକ୍ଷଦଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଅର୍ଫକ୍ଷଦ ଶେମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଶେମ ନୋହଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ନୋହ ଲେମଖଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Cainan, which was [the son] of Arphaxad, which was [the son] of Sem, which was [the son] of Noe, which was [the son] of Lamech,
37 ଲେମଖ ମଥୂଶେଲହଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମଥୂଶେଲହ ହନୋକଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ହନୋକ ଯେରଦଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଯେରଦ ମହଲଲେଲଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ମହଲଲେଲ କେନାନଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର,
Which was [the son] of Mathusala, which was [the son] of Enoch, which was [the son] of Jared, which was [the son] of Maleleel, which was [the son] of Cainan,
38 କେନାନ ଏନୋଶଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଏନୋଶ ଶେଥଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଶେଥ ଆଦମଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର, ଆଦମ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର।
Which was [the son] of Enos, which was [the son] of Seth, which was [the son] of Adam, which was [the son] of God.
