ଯୂନସ 3
1 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ଥର ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଯୂନସଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା;
This message from the Lord came to Jonah the second time,
2 “ଉଠ, ନୀନିବୀ ମହାନଗରକୁ ଯାଅ, ପୁଣି ଯାହା ଘୋଷଣା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆଜ୍ଞା କରୁ, ତାହା ସେହି ନଗର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରଚାର କର।”
“Arise, go to that great city, Nineveh, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.”
3 ତହିଁରେ ଯୂନସ ଉଠି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ ନୀନିବୀକୁ ଗଲେ। ନୀନିବୀ ତିନି ଦିନ ଯାତ୍ରାର ପଥ, ଅତି ବଡ଼ ନଗର ଥିଲା।
So Jonah started for Nineveh, as the Lord commanded. Now Nineveh was so large a city that it took three days’ journey to cross it.
4 ପୁଣି, ଯୂନସ ନଗରରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରିବାର ଆରମ୍ଭ କରି, ଏକ ଦିନର ପଥ ଯାଇ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ ଘୋଷଣା କରି କହିଲେ, “ଯଥା, ଆଉ ଚାଳିଶ ଦିନ ଗତ ହେଲେ ନୀନିବୀ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେବ।”
Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, and he proclaimed, “Forty days more and Nineveh will be overthrown.”
5 ତହିଁରେ ନୀନିବୀର ଲୋକମାନେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କଲେ ଓ ଉପବାସ ଘୋଷଣା କରି ବଡ଼ଠାରୁ ସାନ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସମସ୍ତେ ଚଟବସ୍ତ୍ର ପିନ୍ଧିଲେ।
And the people of Nineveh believed God; and they ordered a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.
6 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଏହିସବୁ ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ନୀନିବୀ ରାଜା ନିକଟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ସେ ଆପଣା ସିଂହାସନରୁ ଉଠିଲା ଓ ଆପଣାର ବସ୍ତ୍ର କାଢ଼ି ଚଟ ପିନ୍ଧି ପାଉଁଶରେ ବସିଲେ।
And when word came to the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his robe, dressed in sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
7 ପୁଣି, ରାଜାର ଓ ଅଧ୍ୟକ୍ଷମାନଙ୍କର ଆଜ୍ଞାନୁସାରେ ସେ ନୀନିବୀର ସର୍ବତ୍ର ଏହି କଥା ଘୋଷଣା ଓ ପ୍ରଚାର କରାଇଲା, ଯଥା, “ମନୁଷ୍ୟ କି ପଶୁ କିଅବା ଗୋମେଷାଦି ପଲ କେହି କିଛି ଆସ୍ୱାଦନ ନ କରୁ; ସେମାନେ ଭୋଜନ କି ଜଳ ପାନ ନ କରନ୍ତୁ;
And he made this proclamation and published it in Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: People, beast, herd, and flock must not taste anything; let them not eat nor drink water.
8 ମାତ୍ର ମନୁଷ୍ୟ ଓ ପଶୁ ଚଟ ପରିଧାନ କରି ଯଥାଶକ୍ତି ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଡାକନ୍ତୁ; ଆହୁରି, ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଲୋକ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କୁପଥରୁ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତସ୍ଥିତ ଦୌରାତ୍ମ୍ୟରୁ ବିମୁଖ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ।
Let both people and animals put on sackcloth and let them cry earnestly to God; let them each turn from their evil ways and from the deeds of violence which they are doing.
9 କେଜାଣି ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଫେରି ଦୁଃଖିତ ହୋଇ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରଚଣ୍ଡ କ୍ରୋଧରୁ ନିବୃତ୍ତ ହେବେ, ତହିଁରେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହେବା ନାହିଁ।”
Who knows? God may relent and avert his fierce anger, so that we may not die.”
10 ତହୁଁ ସେମାନେ ଯେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କୁପଥରୁ ଫେରିଲେ, ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଏହି କର୍ମ ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ଦେଖିଲେ; ପୁଣି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଯେଉଁ ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ଘଟାଇବେ ବୋଲି କହିଥିଲେ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସେହି ବିଷୟରେ ଦୁଃଖିତ ହୋଇ ତାହା ଘଟାଇଲେ ନାହିଁ।
When God saw that they turned from their evil course, he relented the evil which he said he would do to them, and did not do it.
