ଯୋହନ 18
1 ଯୀଶୁ ଏହିସବୁ କଥା କହି ଆପଣା ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ କିଦ୍ରୋଣ ଜୋଡ଼ର ଆରପାଖକୁ ବାହାରିଗଲେ। ସେଠାରେ ଗୋଟିଏ ଉଦ୍ୟାନ ଥିଲା, ଆଉ ସେ ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନେ ସେଥିରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କଲେ।
These things having said, Jesus went forth with his disciples beyond the brook of Kedron, where was a garden, into which he entered, himself and his disciples,
2 ଯେଉଁ ଯିହୂଦା ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଶତ୍ରୁ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କଲା, ସେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନ ଜାଣିଥିଲା, କାରଣ ଯୀଶୁ ଅନେକ ଥର ଆପଣା ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ସେ ସ୍ଥାନକୁ ଯାଉଥିଲେ।
and Judas also, who delivered him up, had known the place, because many times did Jesus assemble there with his disciples.
3 ଅତଏବ, ଯିହୂଦା ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ ପୁଣି, ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକ ଓ ଫାରୂଶୀମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ପଦାତିକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଘେନି ବତୀ, ମଶାଲ ଓ ଅସ୍ତ୍ରଶସ୍ତ୍ର ଧରି ସେଠାକୁ ଆସିଲା।
Judas, therefore, having taken the band and officers out of the chief priests and Pharisees, doth come thither with torches and lamps, and weapons;
4 ସେଥିରେ ଯୀଶୁ, ତାହାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଯାହା ଯାହା ଘଟିବାକୁ ଯାଉଅଛି, ସେହିସବୁ ଜାଣି ଆଗକୁ ଯାଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କାହାକୁ ଖୋଜୁଅଛ?”
Jesus, therefore, knowing all things that are coming upon him, having gone forth, said to them, 'Whom do ye seek?'
5 ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ନାଜରିତୀୟ ଯୀଶୁକୁ। ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ମୁଁ ସେହି।” ଯେଉଁ ଯିହୂଦା ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଶତ୍ରୁ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କଲା, ସେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିଲା।
they answered him, 'Jesus the Nazarene;' Jesus saith to them, 'I am [he];' — and Judas who delivered him up was standing with them; —
6 ଯୀଶୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ସେହି, ସେତେବେଳେ ସେମାନେ ପଛକୁ ହଟିଯାଇ ଭୂମିରେ ପଡ଼ିଗଲେ।
when, therefore, he said to them — 'I am [he],' they went away backward, and fell to the ground.
7 ସେଥିରେ ସେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଉ ଥରେ ପଚାରିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କାହାକୁ ଖୋଜୁଅଛ?” ସେମାନେ କହିଲେ, ନାଜରିତୀୟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ।
Again, therefore, he questioned them, 'Whom do ye seek?' and they said, 'Jesus the Nazarene;'
8 ଯୀଶୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ମୁଁ ଯେ ସେହି, ଏହା ତ ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲି। ଏଣୁ ଯଦି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ମୋତେ ଖୋଜୁଅଛ, ତାହାହେଲେ ଏମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯିବା ପାଇଁ ଛାଡ଼ିଦିଅ।”
Jesus answered, 'I said to you that I am [he]; if, then, me ye seek, suffer these to go away;'
9 ସେ ଏହା କହିଲେ, ଯେପରି ତାହାଙ୍କ ଉକ୍ତ ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ସଫଳ ହୁଏ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମୋତେ ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦେଇଅଛ, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ମୁଁ ଜଣକୁ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ହରାଇ ନାହିଁ।”
that the word might be fulfilled that he said — 'Those whom Thou hast given to me, I did not lose of them even one.'
10 ଶିମୋନ ପିତରଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଖଣ୍ଡା ଥିବାରୁ ସେ ତାହା ବାହାର କରି ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କ ଦାସକୁ ଆଘାତ କଲେ ଓ ତାହାର ଡାହାଣ କାନ କାଟିପକାଇଲେ; ସେହି ଦାସର ନାମ ମାଲ୍ଖ।
Simon Peter, therefore, having a sword, drew it, and struck the chief priest's servant, and cut off his right ear — and the name of the servant was Malchus —
11 ସେଥିରେ ଯୀଶୁ ପିତରଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, “ଖଣ୍ଡା ଖାପରେ ରଖ; ପିତା ମୋତେ ଯେଉଁ ପାତ୍ର ଦେଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ମୁଁ କଅଣ ସେଥିରୁ ପାନ କରିବି ନାହିଁ?”
Jesus, therefore, said to Peter, 'Put the sword into the sheath; the cup that the Father hath given to me, may I not drink it?'
12 ଏହାପରେ ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ, ପ୍ରଧାନ ସେନାପତି, ପୁଣି, ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ପଦାତିକମାନେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଧରିଲେ
The band, therefore, and the captain, and the officers of the Jews, took hold on Jesus, and bound him,
13 ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବାନ୍ଧି ପ୍ରଥମେ ହାନାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଘେନିଗଲେ, କାରଣ ସେ ସେହି ବର୍ଷର ମହାଯାଜକ କୟାଫାଙ୍କର ଶ୍ୱଶୁର ଥିଲେ।
and they led him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was chief priest of that year,
14 ଲୋକସାଧାରଣଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜଣେ ମରିବା ମଙ୍ଗଳଜନକ ବୋଲି ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଯେ ପରାମର୍ଶ ଦେଇଥିଲେ, ଏ ସେହି କୟାଫା।
and Caiaphas was he who gave counsel to the Jews, that it is good for one man to perish for the people.
15 ଶିମୋନ ପିତର ଓ ଆଉ ଜଣେ ଶିଷ୍ୟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଯାଉଥିଲେ। ସେହି ଶିଷ୍ୟ ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କର ପରିଚିତ ଥିଲେ ଓ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ସହିତ ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କ ପ୍ରାଙ୍ଗଣରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କଲେ;
And following Jesus was Simon Peter, and the other disciple, and that disciple was known to the chief priest, and he entered with Jesus to the hall of the chief priest,
16 କିନ୍ତୁ ପିତର ବାହାରେ ଦ୍ୱାର ନିକଟରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ରହିଲେ। ଅତଏବ, ସେହି ଯେଉଁ ଅନ୍ୟ ଶିଷ୍ୟ ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କ ପରିଚିତ ଥିଲେ, ସେ ବାହାରକୁ ଯାଇ ଦ୍ୱାରରକ୍ଷିକାକୁ କହି ପିତରଙ୍କୁ ଭିତରକୁ ଆଣିଲେ।
and Peter was standing at the door without, therefore went forth the other disciple who was known to the chief priest, and he spake to the female keeping the door, and he brought in Peter.
17 ସେଥିରେ ସେହି ଦ୍ୱାରରକ୍ଷିକା ଦାସୀ ପିତରଙ୍କୁ କହିଲା, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମଧ୍ୟ କଅଣ ଏହି ଲୋକର ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ ନୁହଁ? ସେ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ନୁହେଁ।
Then said the maid keeping the door to Peter, 'Art thou also of the disciples of this man?' he saith, 'I am not;'
18 ଶୀତ ହେତୁ ଦାସ ଓ ପଦାତିକମାନେ ଅଙ୍ଗାର ଜାଳି ସେଠାରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ନିଆଁ ପୋଉଁଥିଲେ; ପିତର ମଧ୍ୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ନିଆଁ ପୋଉଁଥିଲେ।
and the servants and the officers were standing, having made a fire of coals, because it was cold, and they were warming themselves, and Peter was standing with them, and warming himself.
19 ଇତିମଧ୍ୟରେ ମହାଯାଜକ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ବିଷୟରେ ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଶିକ୍ଷା ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ପଚାରିଲେ।
The chief priests, therefore, questioned Jesus concerning his disciples, and concerning his teaching;
20 ଯୀଶୁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ମୁଁ ଜଗତ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରକାଶରେ କଥା କହିଅଛି; ଯେଉଁଠାରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଯିହୁଦୀ ଏକତ୍ର ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ଏପରି ସମାଜଗୃହ ଓ ମନ୍ଦିରରେ ମୁଁ ସର୍ବଦା ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦେଇଅଛି; ମୁଁ ଗୋପନରେ କିଛି କହି ନାହିଁ।
Jesus answered him, 'I spake freely to the world, I did always teach in a synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews do always come together; and in secret I spake nothing;
21 ମୋତେ କାହିଁକି ପଚାରୁଅଛନ୍ତି? ମୁଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କଅଣ କହିଅଛି, ଯେଉଁମାନେ ଶୁଣିଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରନ୍ତୁ; ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ମୁଁ ଯାହା ଯାହା କହିଅଛି, ସେମାନେ ସେହିସବୁ ଜାଣନ୍ତି।”
why me dost thou question? question those having heard what I spake to them; lo, these have known what I said.'
22 ସେ ଏହା କହିବାରୁ ପଦାତିକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ପାଖରେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଥିବା ଜଣେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଚାପୁଡ଼ା ମାରି କହିଲା, ତୁ ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କୁ ଏପରି ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଉଅଛୁ?
And he having said these things, one of the officers standing by did give Jesus a slap, saying, 'Thus dost thou answer the chief priest?'
23 ଯୀଶୁ ତାହାକୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ଯଦି ମୁଁ ମନ୍ଦ କହିଲି, ତାହାହେଲେ ମନ୍ଦର ପ୍ରମାଣ ଦିଅ; କିନ୍ତୁ ଯଦି ଭଲ କହିଲି, ତାହାହେଲେ କାହିଁକି ମୋତେ ମାରୁଅଛ?”
Jesus answered him, 'If I spake ill, testify concerning the ill; and if well, why me dost thou smite?'
24 ସେଥିରେ ହାନାନ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ବନ୍ଧା ହୋଇଥିବା ଅବସ୍ଥାରେ ମହାଯାଜକ କୟାଫାଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଇଦେଲେ।
Annas then sent him bound to Caiaphas the chief priest.
25 ଇତିମଧ୍ୟରେ ଶିମୋନ ପିତର ଠିଆ ହୋଇ ନିଆଁ ପୋଉଁଥିଲେ। ସେଥିରେ ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ମଧ୍ୟ କଅଣ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଶିଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ ନୁହଁ? ସେ ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରି କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ନୁହେଁ।
And Simon Peter was standing and warming himself, they said then to him, 'Art thou also of his disciples?' he denied, and said, 'I am not.'
26 ମହାଯାଜକଙ୍କ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣେ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍ ପିତର ଯାହାର କାନ କାଟିପକାଇଥିଲେ, ତାହାର ଜଣେ ଆତ୍ମୀୟ କହିଲା, ମୁଁ କଅଣ ତୋତେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ବଗିଚାରେ ଦେଖି ନ ଥିଲି?
One of the servants of the chief priest, being kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, saith, 'Did not I see thee in the garden with him?'
27 ସେଥିରେ ପିତର ପୁନର୍ବାର ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କଲେ; ଆଉ, ସେହିକ୍ଷଣି କୁକୁଡ଼ା ଡାକିଲା।
again, therefore, Peter denied, and immediately a cock crew.
28 ପରେ ସେମାନେ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ କୟାଫାଙ୍କ ନିକଟରୁ ପ୍ରାସାଦକୁ ଘେନିଗଲେ; ସେତେବେଳେ ପ୍ରାତଃକାଳ ହୋଇଥିଲା; ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ଯେପରି ଅଶୁଚି ନ ହୋଇ ନିସ୍ତାର ପର୍ବର ଭୋଜ ପ୍ରତିପାଳନ କରିପାରନ୍ତି, ଏଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ନିଜେ ପ୍ରାସାଦ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କଲେ ନାହିଁ।
They led, therefore, Jesus from Caiaphas to the praetorium, and it was early, and they themselves did not enter into the praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but that they might eat the passover;
29 ଅତଏବ, ପୀଲାତ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ବାହାରି ଆସି ପଚାରିଲେ, ଏ ଲୋକ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ କେଉଁ ଅଭିଯୋଗ ଆଣୁଅଛ?
Pilate, therefore, went forth unto them, and said, 'What accusation do ye bring against this man?'
30 ସେମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଏ ଲୋକଟା ଯଦି ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମକାରୀ ହୋଇ ନ ଥାଆନ୍ତା, ତାହାହେଲେ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ତାହାକୁ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କରି ନ ଥାଆନ୍ତୁ।
they answered and said to him, 'If he were not an evil doer, we had not delivered him to thee.'
31 ସେଥିରେ ପୀଲାତ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏହାକୁ ଘେନିଯାଇ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥାନୁସାରେ ଏହାର ବିଚାର କର। କେତେକ ଯିହୁଦୀ ନେତାମାନେ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, କାହାକୁ ପ୍ରାଣଦଣ୍ଡ ଦେବା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଅଧିକାର ନାହିଁ।
Pilate, therefore, said to them, 'Take ye him — ye — and according to your law judge him;' the Jews, therefore, said to him, 'It is not lawful to us to put any one to death;'
32 ଯୀଶୁ କେଉଁ ପ୍ରକାର ମୃତ୍ୟୁଭୋଗ କରିବାକୁ ଯାଉଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେଥିର ସୂଚନା ଦେଇ ସେ ଯେଉଁ ବାକ୍ୟ କହିଥିଲେ, ତାହା ଯେପରି ସଫଳ ହୁଏ, ଏଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନେ ଏହା କହିଲେ।
that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled which he said, signifying by what death he was about to die.
33 ଅତଏବ, ପୀଲାତ ପୁନର୍ବାର ପ୍ରାସାଦ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରି ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ଡାକି ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ କଅଣ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କର ରାଜା?
Pilate, therefore, entered into the praetorium again, and called Jesus, and said to him, 'Thou art the King of the Jews?'
34 ଯୀଶୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ଆପଣ କଅଣ ନିଜରୁ ଏହା କହୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ନା ଅନ୍ୟମାନେ ମୋʼ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଏହା କହିଅଛନ୍ତି?”
Jesus answered him, 'From thyself dost thou say this? or did others say it to thee about me?'
35 ପୀଲାତ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେ କଅଣ ଜଣେ ଯିହୁଦୀ? ତୁମ୍ଭର ସ୍ୱଜାତି ଓ ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି; ତୁମ୍ଭେ କଅଣ କରିଅଛ?
Pilate answered, 'Am I a Jew? thy nation, and the chief priests did deliver thee up to me; what didst thou?'
36 ଯୀଶୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ମୋହର ରାଜ୍ୟ ଏହି ଜଗତ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ନୁହେଁ; ଯଦି ମୋହର ରାଜ୍ୟ ଏହି ଜଗତ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ହୋଇଥାଆନ୍ତା, ତାହାହେଲେ ମୁଁ ଯେପରି ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ହସ୍ତରେ ସମର୍ପିତ ନ ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ସେଥିପାଇଁ ମୋହର ପରିଚାରକମାନେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧ କରନ୍ତେ; କିନ୍ତୁ ମୋହର ରାଜ୍ୟ ପ୍ରକୃତରେ ତତ୍ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ନୁହେଁ।”
Jesus answered, 'My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, my officers had struggled that I might not be delivered up to Jews; but now my kingdom is not from hence.'
37 ସେଥିରେ ପୀଲାତ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, ତାହାହେଲେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ କଅଣ ଜଣେ ରାଜା ନୁହଁ? ଯୀଶୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ଆପଣ ତ କହୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ମୁଁ ଜଣେ ରାଜା। ମୁଁ ଯେପରି ସତ୍ୟ ପକ୍ଷରେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦିଏ, ଏଥିନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ଜନ୍ମ ହୋଇଅଛି ଓ ଜଗତକୁ ଆସିଅଛି। ଯେ କେହି ସତ୍ୟର ସନ୍ତାନ, ସେ ମୋହର କଥା ଶୁଣେ।”
Pilate, therefore, said to him, 'Art thou then a king?' Jesus answered, 'Thou dost say [it]; because a king I am, I for this have been born, and for this I have come to the world, that I may testify to the truth; every one who is of the truth, doth hear my voice.'
38 ପୀଲାତ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ସତ୍ୟ କଅଣ? ଏହା କହି ସେ ପୁଣି, ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ବାହାରକୁ ଯାଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଏହାଠାରେ କୌଣସି ଦୋଷ ପାଉ ନାହୁଁ।
Pilate saith to him, 'What is truth?' and this having said, again he went forth unto the Jews, and saith to them, 'I do find no fault in him;
39 କିନ୍ତୁ ଆମେ ଯେ ନିସ୍ତାର ପର୍ବ ସମୟରେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଜଣକୁ ମୁକ୍ତ କରିଦେଉ, ଏହା ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ରୀତି ଅଛି; ଅତଏବ, ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ରାଜାଙ୍କୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁକ୍ତ କରିଦେବୁ ବୋଲି କଅଣ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଇଚ୍ଛା?
and ye have a custom that I shall release to you one in the passover; will ye, therefore, [that] I shall release to you the king of the Jews?'
40 ସେଥିରେ ସେମାନେ ପୁନର୍ବାର ଚିତ୍କାର କରି କହିଲେ, ଏ ଲୋକଟାକୁ ନୁହେଁ, କିନ୍ତୁ ବାରବ୍ବାକୁ। ଏହି ବାରବ୍ବା ଜଣେ ଡକାଇତ ଥିଲା।
therefore they all cried out again, saying, 'Not this one — but Barabbas;' and Barabbas was a robber.
