ଆୟୁବ 1
1 ଊଷ ଦେଶରେ ଆୟୁବ ନାମକ ଏକ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଥିଲା; ଆଉ ସେ ସିଦ୍ଧ, ସରଳ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର-ଭୟକାରୀ ଓ କୁକ୍ରିୟାତ୍ୟାଗୀ ଥିଲା।
Once there was a man called Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was a man of integrity who did what was right. He respected God and avoided evil.
2 ପୁଣି, ତାହାର ସାତ ପୁତ୍ର ଓ ତିନି କନ୍ୟା ଜନ୍ମିଥିଲେ।
He had seven sons and three daughters.
3 ମଧ୍ୟ ତାହାର ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ସାତ ହଜାର ମେଷ, ତିନି ହଜାର ଉଷ୍ଟ୍ର, ପାଞ୍ଚ ଶହ ହଳ ବଳଦ, ପାଞ୍ଚ ଶହ ଗର୍ଦ୍ଦଭୀ ଓ ଅନେକ ଦାସଦାସୀ ଥିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ସେ ପୂର୍ବଦେଶୀୟ ସମସ୍ତ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ମହାନ ହୋଇଥିଲା।
He owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred teams of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, as well as many servants. He was more wealthy than anyone else in the East.
4 ଆଉ, ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ରମାନେ ଯାଇ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଦିନରେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଗୃହରେ ଭୋଜ କଲେ; ପୁଣି ସେମାନେ ଲୋକ ପଠାଇ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଭୋଜନ ଓ ପାନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ତିନି ଭଗିନୀଙ୍କୁ ନିମନ୍ତ୍ରଣ କଲେ।
Job's sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes on their specific day, also inviting their sisters to come and eat and drink with them.
5 ପୁଣି, ପାଳିକ୍ରମେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଭୋଜର ଦିନ ଗତ ହୁଅନ୍ତେ, ଆୟୁବ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଡକାଇ ପବିତ୍ର କଲା ଓ ଅତି ପ୍ରଭାତରେ ଉଠି ସେ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ହୋମବଳି ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲା; କାରଣ ଆୟୁବ କହିଲା, “ହୋଇପାରେ, ଆମ୍ଭର ପିଲାମାନେ ପାପ କରିଥିବେ ଓ ମନେ ମନେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଅଭିଶାପ କରିଥିବେ।” ଏହିରୂପେ ଆୟୁବ ସର୍ବଦା କଲା।
When the days of feasting were over, Job would send for them and purify them by getting up early in the morning to offer a burnt offering for each of them. He was concerned, thinking to himself, “Maybe my children have sinned in some way and have unintentionally offended God.” This is what Job always did.
6 ଦିନକରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଦୂତଗଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେବାକୁ ଆସନ୍ତେ, ଶୟତାନ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା।
One day the angels came to present themselves to the Lord, and Satan came with them.
7 ଏଥିରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶୟତାନକୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କେଉଁଠାରୁ ଆସିଲ?” ତହିଁରେ ଶୟତାନ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର କରି କହିଲା, “ପୃଥିବୀରେ ଏଣେତେଣେ ଭ୍ରମଣ ଓ ତହିଁ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଗମନାଗମନ କରି କରି ଆସିଲି।”
The Lord asked Satan, “What have you been doing?” “Traveling around on earth, going here and there,” Satan replied.
8 ତହୁଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶୟତାନକୁ ପଚାରିଲେ, “ତୁମ୍ଭେ କି ଆମ୍ଭ ଦାସ ଆୟୁବ ପ୍ରତି ଧ୍ୟାନ ଦେଇଅଛ? କାରଣ ତାହାର ସମାନ ସିଦ୍ଧ ଓ ସରଳ, ପରମେଶ୍ୱର-ଭୟକାରୀ ଓ କୁକ୍ରିୟାତ୍ୟାଗୀ ଲୋକ ପୃଥିବୀରେ କେହି ନାହିଁ?”
“Have you paid attention to Job, my servant?” asked the Lord. “There's no one like him on earth, a man of integrity who does what is right, who respects God and avoids evil.”
9 ତେବେ ଶୟତାନ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର କରି କହିଲା, “ଆୟୁବ କʼଣ ଅକାରଣରେ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କୁ ଭୟ କରୁଅଛି?
“Is it for nothing that Job respects God?” Satan answered. “You've placed a protective fence around him and his family—in fact around everything he has.
10 ତୁମ୍ଭେ କʼଣ ତାହାର ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗରେ, ପୁଣି ତାହାର ଗୃହର ଓ ତାହାର ସର୍ବସ୍ୱର ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦିଗରେ ବାଡ଼ ଦେଇ ନାହଁ? ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାହାର ହସ୍ତକୃତ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ ଦେଇଅଛ ଓ ଦେଶରେ ତାହାର ସମ୍ପତ୍ତି ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇଅଛି।
You have blessed everything he does. His flocks and herds have increased so much they fill the whole land!
11 ମାତ୍ର ଏବେ ଆପଣା ହସ୍ତ ବିସ୍ତାର କରି ତାହାର ସର୍ବସ୍ୱ ସ୍ପର୍ଶ କର, ତହିଁରେ ସେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ମୁଖ ଆଗରେ ପରିତ୍ୟାଗ କରିବ।”
But if you reach out and take everything he has, he will definitely curse you to your face.”
12 ତହୁଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଶୟତାନକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଦେଖ, ତାହାର ସର୍ବସ୍ୱରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର କ୍ଷମତା ଅଛି; କେବଳ ତାହାରି ଉପରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ହସ୍ତ ନ ଦିଅ।” ତହିଁରେ ଶୟତାନ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରୁ ବାହାରିଗଲା।
The Lord told Satan, “Very well, you have the power to do whatever you want to everything he has, but don't hurt him physically.” Then Satan left the Lord's presence.
13 ଆଉ, ଦିନେ ତାହାର ପୁତ୍ର ଓ କନ୍ୟାଗଣ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କ ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ ଭ୍ରାତାର ଗୃହରେ ଭୋଜନ ଓ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ପାନ କରୁଥିଲେ,
The day came when while Job's sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house,
14 ଏପରି ସମୟରେ ଆୟୁବ ନିକଟକୁ ଏକ ଦୂତ ଆସି କହିଲା, “ବଳଦମାନେ ହଳ ବୁଲାଉଥିଲେ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଗର୍ଦ୍ଦଭୀମାନେ ଚରୁଥିଲେ;
a messenger came to Job and told him, “As the oxen were plowing and female donkeys were grazing nearby,
15 ଏଥିମଧ୍ୟରେ ଶିବାୟୀୟମାନେ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନେଇଗଲେ; ଆହୁରି, ସେମାନେ ଖଡ୍ଗଧାରରେ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ବାଦ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ କେବଳ ମୁଁ ଏକା ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇଅଛି।”
the Sabeans attacked and took them, killing the herdsmen. Only I escaped to bring you this news.”
16 ସେ କହିବା ବେଳେ ଆଉ ଜଣେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆସି କହିଲା, “ଆକାଶରୁ ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଅଗ୍ନି ପଡ଼ି ମେଷପଲ ଓ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ଦଗ୍ଧ କରି ଗ୍ରାସ କରିଅଛି; ପୁଣି, ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ବାଦ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ କେବଳ ମୁଁ ଏକା ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇଅଛି।”
While he was still speaking another messenger arrived and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and set the sheep and shepherds on fire and burned them up. Only I escaped to bring you this news.”
17 ସେ କହିବା ବେଳେ ଆଉ ଜଣେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆସି କହିଲା, “କଲ୍ଦୀୟମାନେ ତିନି ଦଳ ହୋଇ ଉଷ୍ଟ୍ରପଲ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ନେଇଗଲେ, ଆହୁରି ଖଡ୍ଗଧାରରେ ଦାସମାନଙ୍କୁ ବଧ କଲେ; ପୁଣି ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ବାଦ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ କେବଳ ମୁଁ ଏକା ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇଅଛି।”
While he was still speaking another messenger arrived and said, “Three armed companies of Chaldeans attacked the camels and took them, killing the herdsmen. Only I escaped to bring you this news.”
18 ସେ କହିବା ବେଳେ ଆଉ ଜଣେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଆସି କହିଲା, “ଆପଣଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଓ କନ୍ୟାଗଣ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ ଭ୍ରାତାର ଗୃହରେ ଭୋଜନ ଓ ଦ୍ରାକ୍ଷାରସ ପାନ କରୁଥିଲେ;
While he was still speaking another messenger arrived and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their eldest brother
19 ଏଥିମଧ୍ୟରେ, ଦେଖନ୍ତୁ, ପ୍ରାନ୍ତର ଆଡ଼ୁ ପ୍ରବଳ ବାୟୁ ଆସି ଗୃହର ଚାରି କୋଣରେ ଲାଗନ୍ତେ, ତାହା ଯୁବକମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ପଡ଼ିଲା, ତହିଁରେ ସେମାନେ ମଲେ; ପୁଣି, ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସମ୍ବାଦ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ କେବଳ ମୁଁ ଏକା ରକ୍ଷା ପାଇଅଛି।”
when all of a sudden a tremendous wind came in from the desert. It hit the house on all four sides so that it collapsed on them and they died. Only I escaped to bring you this news.”
20 ସେତେବେଳେ ଆୟୁବ ଉଠି ଆପଣା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ଚିରିଲା ଓ ଆପଣା ମସ୍ତକ କ୍ଷୌର କଲା ଓ ଭୂମିରେ ପଡ଼ି ଉପାସନା କଲା;
Then Job stood up and tore his robe. Then cut off his hair and fell to the ground in worship.
21 ଆଉ, ସେ କହିଲା, “ମୁଁ ମାତାର ଗର୍ଭରୁ ଉଲଙ୍ଗ ଆସିଅଛି ଓ ମୁଁ ଉଲଙ୍ଗ ହୋଇ ସେଠାକୁ ଫେରିଯିବି; ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଦେଲେ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ନେଇଅଛନ୍ତି; ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନାମ ଧନ୍ୟ ହେଉ।”
“I was naked when I came out of my mother's womb, and I shall be naked when I leave,” he said. “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. May the Lord's name be honored.”
22 ଏହିସବୁରେ ଆୟୁବ ପାପ କଲା ନାହିଁ, ଅବା ପରମେଶ୍ୱରଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଅବିବେଚନାର ଦୋଷାରୋପ କଲା ନାହିଁ।
In all of this Job did not sin, nor blame God.
