ଯିରିମୀୟ 9
1 ଆଃ, ଯେବେ ମୋହର ମସ୍ତକ ଜଳମୟ ଓ ମୋର ଚକ୍ଷୁ ଲୋତକର ଝର ସ୍ୱରୂପ ହୁଅନ୍ତା, ତେବେ ମୁଁ ଆପଣା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ କନ୍ୟାର ହତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଦିବାରାତ୍ର କ୍ରନ୍ଦନ କରିପାରନ୍ତି!
I wish that my head was [like] [MET] a spring of water, and that my eyes were [like] a fountain of tears. Then I would cry night and day for all of my people who have been killed [by our enemies].
2 ଆଃ, ପଥିକମାନଙ୍କର ବସା ପରି ଯଦି ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରରେ ମୋର ଗୋଟିଏ ବସା ଥାʼନ୍ତା, ତେବେ ମୁଁ ନିଜ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ତ୍ୟାଗ କରି ସେମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସ୍ଥାନାନ୍ତରକୁ ଯାଇ ପାରନ୍ତି! କାରଣ ସେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ବ୍ୟଭିଚାରୀ, ବିଶ୍ୱାସଘାତକ ଲୋକଙ୍କର ସମାଜ।
I wish that I could leave my people and forget them, and go and live in a shack/shelter in the desert, because they have not remained faithful [MET] [to Yahweh]; they are a mob of people who deceive others.
3 ପୁଣି, ସେମାନେ ଅସତ୍ୟତା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଜିହ୍ୱାରୂପ ଧନୁକୁ ବକ୍ର କରନ୍ତି; ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ଦେଶରେ ବଳିଷ୍ଠ ହୋଇଅଛନ୍ତି, ମାତ୍ର ସତ୍ୟତା ପକ୍ଷରେ ନୁହେଁ; କାରଣ ସେମାନେ ଦୁଷ୍ଟତା ଉପରେ ଦୁଷ୍ଟତା କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଅଗ୍ରସର ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭଙ୍କୁ ଜାଣନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ, ଏହା ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି।
[Yahweh replied to me], “They use their tongues [to tell] [MET] lies like people shoot [arrows] with bows. It is because they tell lies that they have become more powerful in this land, and they do not know me.
4 ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ମିତ୍ରଗଣ ବିଷୟରେ ସାବଧାନ ହୁଅ ଓ କୌଣସି ଭ୍ରାତାଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କର ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଭ୍ରାତା ନିତାନ୍ତ ଅପହରଣ କରିବ ଓ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ମିତ୍ର ନିନ୍ଦା ଘେନି ବୁଲିବ।
Do not trust your neighbors and [even] your brothers! They all are as deceitful [as Jacob was]. They slander [each other] and tell lies [about each other].
5 ଆଉ, ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସୀକୁ ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନା କରିବେ ଓ ସତ୍ୟ କଥା କହିବେ ନାହିଁ; ସେମାନେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଜିହ୍ୱାକୁ ମିଥ୍ୟା କହିବା ପାଇଁ ଶିଖାଇଅଛନ୍ତି; ସେମାନେ ଅଧର୍ମ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଆପଣାମାନଙ୍କୁ ବ୍ୟସ୍ତ କରନ୍ତି।
They deceive their friends and never tell the truth. They lie continually and, because of that, they have become skilled liars; they do one oppressive thing after another, and are unable to stop doing it.
6 ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନା ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ବସତି ସ୍ଥାନ ଅଛି; ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନା ସକାଶୁ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରନ୍ତି।
They habitually lie and deceive [each other], and no one will admit/say that I am God.
7 ଏହେତୁ ସୈନ୍ୟାଧିପତି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, “ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ତରଳାଇବା ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରୀକ୍ଷା କରିବା; କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭ ଲୋକଙ୍କର କନ୍ୟା ହେତୁରୁ ଏହାଛଡ଼ା ଆଉ କଅଣ କରିବା?
Therefore [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, say this: Listen carefully to what I say: I will [cause my people to experience great afflictions, ] [like a metalworker puts metal in a hot fire] [MET] to completely burn out the impure bits. Because of all [the evil things] that my people have done, there is absolutely nothing else [RHQ] that I can do.
8 ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଜିହ୍ୱା ପ୍ରାଣନାଶକ ତୀର ସ୍ୱରୂପ; ତାହା ପ୍ରବଞ୍ଚନାର କଥା କହେ; ଲୋକେ ମୁଖରେ ପ୍ରତିବାସୀ ସଙ୍ଗେ ପ୍ରେମାଳାପ କରନ୍ତି, ମାତ୍ର ଅନ୍ତରେ ଛକି ବସନ୍ତି।
What they say [MTY] [injures people like] [MET] poisoned arrows do. They say to their neighbors, ‘I hope things will go well for you,’ while they are planning to kill them.
9 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି, ଆମ୍ଭେ କʼଣ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏହିସବୁର ପ୍ରତିଫଳ ଦେବା ନାହିଁ? ଏହି ପ୍ରକାର ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀଠାରୁ ଆମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରାଣ କʼଣ ପରିଶୋଧ ନେବ ନାହିଁ?
Should I not punish them for doing that [RHQ]? Yes, I should certainly (get revenge on/give what they deserve to) [the people of] a nation that does things like that!”
10 ମୁଁ ପର୍ବତମାନର ବିଷୟରେ ରୋଦନ ଓ ହାହାକାର ଓ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରସ୍ଥ ଚରାସ୍ଥାନସକଳର ବିଷୟରେ ବିଳାପ କରିବି, କାରଣ ସେସବୁ ଦଗ୍ଧ ହୋଇଅଛି ଓ ତହିଁର ମଧ୍ୟଦେଇ କେହି ଗତାୟାତ କରେ ନାହିଁ; ଅଥବା ଲୋକମାନେ ପଶୁପଲର ରବ ଶୁଣି ପାରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ; ଆକାଶସ୍ଥ ପକ୍ଷୀଗଣ ଓ ଭୂଚର ପଶୁଗଣ ଉଭୟ ପଳାୟନ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେମାନେ ଚାଲି ଯାଇଅଛନ୍ତି।
So, I will weep and wail for [the people who live in] the mountains and in the (pastures/places where the livestock eat the grass), because those areas will be desolate, and no one will live there. There will be no cattle there to call to each other, and all the birds and wild animals will have fled [to other places].
11 ପୁଣି, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯିରୂଶାଲମକୁ ଢିପି ଓ ଶୃଗାଳଗଣର ବାସସ୍ଥାନ କରିବା; ଆଉ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯିହୁଦାର ନଗରସମୂହକୁ ନିବାସୀବିହୀନ ଧ୍ୱଂସସ୍ଥାନ କରିବା।”
[Yahweh also says], “I will cause Jerusalem to become a heap of ruins, and [only] jackals/wolves will live there. I will destroy the towns of Judah, with the result that they will be completely deserted; no one will live there.”
12 ଏହା ଯେ ବୁଝିପାରେ, ଏପରି ଜ୍ଞାନୀ ମନୁଷ୍ୟ କିଏ ଅଛି? ଓ ଏହା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ମୁଖ ଯାହାକୁ ଜ୍ଞାତ କରାଇଅଛି, ଏପରି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି କିଏ? ଦେଶ କି ନିମନ୍ତେ ବିନଷ୍ଟ ଓ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତର ତୁଲ୍ୟ ଦଗ୍ଧ ହେଲା ଯେ, କେହି ତହିଁର ମଧ୍ୟଦେଇ ଗତାୟାତ କରେ ନାହିଁ?
[I said], “Only people who are very wise [RHQ] can understand these things. Only those who have been taught by Yahweh can [RHQ] explain these things to others. The wise people are [RHQ] the only ones who can explain why the land will be completely ruined with the result that everyone [RHQ] will be afraid to travel through it.”
13 ଆହୁରି, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି, “କାରଣ ଏହି, ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଆପଣାର ଯେଉଁ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ରଖିଲୁ, ତାହା ସେମାନେ ତ୍ୟାଗ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି ଓ ଆମ୍ଭର ବାକ୍ୟ ପାଳନ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି, କିଅବା ତଦନୁସାରେ ଆଚରଣ କରି ନାହାନ୍ତି;
Yahweh replied, “[These things will happen] because my people have rejected my laws which I gave to them; they have not obeyed me or my instructions.
14 ମାତ୍ର ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣର ଅବାଧ୍ୟତାନୁସାରେ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନଙ୍କ ଶିକ୍ଷାମତେ ବାଲ୍ ନାମକ ଦେବଗଣର ଅନୁଗାମୀ ହୋଇ ଆଚରଣ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି।
Instead, they have stubbornly done the things that they wanted to do. They have worshiped the idols that represent the god Baal, which is what their ancestors did.
15 ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ପରମେଶ୍ୱର ସୈନ୍ୟାଧିପତି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ଏହି ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ତିକ୍ତ ଫଳ ଭୋଜନ କରାଇବା ଓ ବିଷବୃକ୍ଷର ରସ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ପାନ କରିବାକୁ ଦେବା।
So now listen to what [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, the God of the Israelis, say: [What I will do will be like] [MET] giving these people bitter things to eat and poison to drink:
16 ଆହୁରି, ଯେଉଁମାନଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନେ କିଅବା ସେମାନଙ୍କର ପୂର୍ବପୁରୁଷମାନେ ଜାଣି ନାହାନ୍ତି, ଏପରି ନାନା ଦେଶୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଛିନ୍ନଭିନ୍ନ କରିବା; ପୁଣି, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯେପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସଂହାର ନ କରୁ, ସେପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପଛେ ପଛେ ଖଡ୍ଗ ପଠାଇବା।”
I will scatter them to many nations which neither they nor their ancestors have known [anything about]; I will [enable their enemies to] strike them with swords until I have destroyed them.”
17 ସୈନ୍ୟାଧିପତି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, “ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ବିବେଚନା କର ଓ ବିଳାପକାରିଣୀ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆସିବା ପାଇଁ ଡାକ ଓ ନିପୁଣା ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କର ଆସିବା ପାଇଁ ଲୋକ ପଠାଅ;
This is also what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “Think [about what is happening], [then] summon those women who mourn [when someone has died].
18 ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଚକ୍ଷୁ ଯେପରି ଲୋତକରେ ଭାସିଯିବ ଓ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଚକ୍ଷୁପତାରୁ ଜଳଧାରା ନିର୍ଗତ ହେବ, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସେମାନେ ଶୀଘ୍ର ଆସି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ହାହାକାର କରନ୍ତୁ।
Tell them to come quickly and start to wail, with the result that tears will stream down from your(pl) eyes.
19 କାରଣ ସିୟୋନଠାରୁ ଏହି ହାହାକାର ଶବ୍ଦ ଶୁଣା ଯାଉଅଛି, ‘ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ କିପରି ବିନଷ୍ଟ ହୋଇଅଛୁ! ଲୋକମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ବାସସ୍ଥାନ ଭୂମିସାତ୍ କରିବାରୁ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଦେଶ ତ୍ୟାଗ କରି ଅତିଶୟ ଲଜ୍ଜିତ ହୋଇଅଛୁ।’”
Listen to [the people of] Jerusalem crying/lamenting, saying, ‘We have been ruined/destroyed! We have experienced a terrible disaster! Now we are very ashamed, because our houses have been destroyed [by our enemies], and we [are being forced to] leave our land.’”
20 ତଥାପି ଆଗୋ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ବାକ୍ୟ ଶୁଣ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ତାହାଙ୍କର ମୁଖନିର୍ଗତ ବାକ୍ୟ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରୁ, ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କନ୍ୟାମାନଙ୍କୁ ହାହାକାର କରିବାର ଓ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ପ୍ରତିବାସିନୀକୁ ବିଳାପ କରିବାର ଶିକ୍ଷା ଦିଅ।
You women, listen to what Yahweh says [MTY]. Pay attention to his words [DOU]. Teach your daughters to wail. Teach each other how to sing funeral songs,
21 କାରଣ ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଝରକା ଦେଇ ଆସି ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଅଟ୍ଟାଳିକାମାନରେ ପ୍ରବେଶ କରିଅଛି; ସେ ବାହାରେ ବାଳକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ଛକରେ ଯୁବାମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଚ୍ଛିନ୍ନ କରିବାକୁ ଉଦ୍ୟତ।
because people will be dying [PRS] in your houses and in palaces. There will be no more children playing in the streets, there will be no more young men [gathering] in the city squares/marketplaces.
22 କୁହ, “ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, ‘ମନୁଷ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କର ଶବ ଖତ ପରି ଓ ଶସ୍ୟଚ୍ଛେଦକର ପଶ୍ଚାତ୍ ପଡ଼ିଥିବା ଅଳ୍ପ ଅଳ୍ପ ଶସ୍ୟ ପରି କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ପଡ଼ି ରହିବ, କେହି ସେସବୁକୁ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରିବେ ନାହିଁ।’”
There will be corpses scattered across the fields like dung; their dead bodies will lie there like [SIM] grain that has been cut by reapers/farmers, and there will be no one [still alive] to bury them.
23 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି, “ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ ଆପଣା ଜ୍ଞାନରେ ଦର୍ପ ନ କରୁ, କିଅବା ବଳବାନ ଆପଣା ବଳରେ ଦର୍ପ ନ କରୁ, ଧନବାନ ଆପଣା ଧନରେ ଦର୍ପ ନ କରୁ;
Yahweh says this: “Wise men should not boast about their being wise, strong men should not boast about their being strong; and rich people should not boast about their being rich.
24 ମାତ୍ର ଯେବେ କେହି ଦର୍ପ କରେ, ତେବେ ସେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଚିହ୍ନେ ଓ ଜାଣେ ବୋଲି ଦର୍ପ କରୁ; ଆମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ, ପୃଥିବୀରେ ସ୍ନେହପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ କରୁଣା, ବିଚାର ଓ ଧର୍ମ ସାଧନ କରୁ, କାରଣ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି, ଏସବୁରେ ଆମ୍ଭର ସନ୍ତୋଷ ଥାଏ।
Instead, those who want to boast should boast about their knowing me and about understanding that I am Yahweh, that I am kind and just and righteous, that I faithfully love [people], and that I am delighted with [people who act] that way.
25 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି, ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ଯେଉଁ ସମୟରେ ସୁନ୍ନତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଅସୁନ୍ନତ ଅନୁସାରେ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦେବା, ଏପରି ସମୟ ଆସୁଅଛି;
There will be a time when I will punish all those people of Egypt and of the Moab people-group and of the Edom [people-group] and of the Ammon [people-group], all those people who live close to desert areas (OR, who cut their hair short [to please their gods]) far from Judah, all those people who have [changed their bodies by] circumcising them [MET] but who have not [changed] their inner beings. I will punish the people of Judah also, because they have not changed their inner beings, [either].”
26 ଆମ୍ଭେ ମିସରକୁ ଓ ଯିହୁଦାକୁ, ଇଦୋମକୁ, ଅମ୍ମୋନ-ସନ୍ତାନଗଣକୁ ଓ ମୋୟାବକୁ, ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କେଶ କୋଣ ମୁଣ୍ଡନକାରୀ ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରବାସୀ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କୁ ଦଣ୍ଡ ଦେବା; କାରଣ ସକଳ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଅସୁନ୍ନତ, ପୁଣି ସମଗ୍ର ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବଂଶ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣରେ ଅସୁନ୍ନତ ଅଟନ୍ତି।”
