ଯିରିମୀୟ 18

1 ଯିରିମୀୟଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିକଟରୁ ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା;

The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:

2 “ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଉଠି କୁମ୍ଭକାରର ଗୃହକୁ ଯାଅ, ସେଠାରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆପଣା ବାକ୍ୟ ଶୁଣାଇବା।”

Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there will I cause thee to hear my words.

3 ତେବେ ମୁଁ କୁମ୍ଭକାର ଗୃହକୁ ଗଲି, ଆଉ ଦେଖ, ସେ ଚକ୍ରରେ ଆପଣା କର୍ମ କରୁଥିଲା।

So I went down to the potter's house, and behold, he was at work at the wheel.

4 କୁମ୍ଭକାର ମୃତ୍ତିକାର ଯେଉଁ ପାତ୍ର ନିର୍ମାଣ କରୁଥିଲା, ତାହା ତାହାର ହସ୍ତରେ ବିଗିଡ଼ି ଯିବାରୁ କୁମ୍ଭକାର ତାହା ନେଇ ଆପଣା ଇଚ୍ଛାନୁସାରେ ଆଉ ଗୋଟିଏ ପାତ୍ର ନିର୍ମାଣ କଲା।

And the vessel which he was making of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he began anew and made it another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

5 ତହୁଁ ମୋʼ ନିକଟରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କର ଏହି ବାକ୍ୟ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହେଲା,

Then came the word of Jehovah to me, saying:

6 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହନ୍ତି, “ହେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବଂଶ, ଆମ୍ଭେ କି ଏହି କୁମ୍ଭକାର ପରି ତୁମ୍ଭ ପ୍ରତି କରି ନ ପାରୁ? ହେ ଇସ୍ରାଏଲ ବଂଶ, ଦେଖ, ଯେପରି ମୃତ୍ତିକା କୁମ୍ଭକାରର ହସ୍ତରେ, ସେପରି ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭ ହସ୍ତରେ ଅଛ।

Cannot I do after the manner of this potter With respect to you. O house of Israel, saith Jehovah? Behold, as the clay is in the hand of the potter, So are ye in my hand, O house of Israel!

7 ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେ କୌଣସି ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ଓ ରାଜ୍ୟ ବିଷୟରେ ଉତ୍ପାଟନ ଓ ଅଧଃପତନ ଓ ବିନାଶର କଥା କହିବା;

Whenever I speak concerning a nation or a kingdom, That I will pluck it up, cast it down, or destroy it,

8 ସେତେବେଳେ ଯେଉଁ ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ବିଷୟରେ ଆମ୍ଭେ କହିଅଛୁ, ସେମାନେ ଯଦି ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମରୁ ଫେରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଯେଉଁ ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ଘଟାଇବାକୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ ମନରେ କଲୁ, ତହିଁରୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ କ୍ଷାନ୍ତ ହେବା।

If that nation shall turn from its wickedness On account of which I threatened it, Then will I repent of the evil which I purposed to do to it.

9 ପୁଣି, ଯେତେବେଳେ ଆମ୍ଭେ କୌଣସି ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀକୁ ରାଜ୍ୟ ବିଷୟରେ ଗଠନ ଓ ରୋପଣର କଥା କହିବା;

And whenever I speak concerning a nation or a kingdom, That I will build it, or plant it,

10 ସେତେବେଳେ ସେ ଯଦି ଆମ୍ଭର ରବ ନ ମାନି ଆମ୍ଭ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରେ ଦୁଷ୍କର୍ମ କରେ, ତେବେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତାହା ପ୍ରତି ଯେଉଁ ମଙ୍ଗଳ କରିବାର କଥା କହିଲୁ, ତହିଁରୁ ଆମ୍ଭେ କ୍ଷାନ୍ତ ହେବା।

And it shall do that which is evil in my sight, And not hearken to my voice, Then will I repent of the good with which I promised to bless them.

11 ଏନିମନ୍ତେ ଏବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯିହୁଦାର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଓ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ନିବାସୀମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ଯାଇ କୁହ, ‘ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି; ଦେଖ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସଂକଳ୍ପ କରୁଅଛୁ; ଏବେ ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କୁପଥରୁ ଫେର, ପୁଣି ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ପଥ ଓ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା କ୍ରିୟାର ଶୋଧନ କର।’

And now speak to the men of Judah, And to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am framing evil against you, And meditating a design against you; Return ye now every one from his evil way, And amend your ways and your doings.

12 ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନେ କହନ୍ତି, ‘ଭରସା ନାହିଁ; କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ସଂକଳ୍ପ ଅନୁସାରେ ଚାଲିବା ଓ ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକେ ଆପଣା ଆପଣା ଦୁଷ୍ଟ ଅନ୍ତଃକରଣର ଅବାଧ୍ୟତାନୁସାରେ କର୍ମ କରିବା।’

But they say, “There is no remedy, For we will walk after our own devices, And we will practise every one the perverseness of his evil heart.”

13 ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଏହି କଥା କହନ୍ତି; ତୁମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଏବେ ନାନା ଦେଶୀୟମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପଚାର, ଏପରି କଥା କିଏ ଶୁଣିଅଛି; ଇସ୍ରାଏଲର ଅନୂଢ଼ା କନ୍ୟା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ରୋମାଞ୍ଚଜନକ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିଅଛି।

Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Inquire ye now among the nations, Who hath heard such things as these? The virgin of Israel hath done a deed of horror.

14 ଲିବାନୋନର ହିମ କି କ୍ଷେତ୍ରସ୍ଥ ଶୈଳରେ ଅଭାବ ହେବ? କିଅବା ଦୂରରୁ ପ୍ରବାହିତ ସୁଶୀତଳ ଜଳସ୍ରୋତ କି ଶୁଷ୍କ ହେବ?

Shall the snow from the rocks of Lebanon forsake my fields? Or shall the cold flowing waters, that come from afar, be dried up?

15 ମାତ୍ର ଆମ୍ଭର ଲୋକମାନେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ପାସୋରି ଅସାର ଦେବଗଣର ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ଧୂପ ଜ୍ୱଳାଇ ଅଛନ୍ତି, ଆଉ ସେମାନେ ଅପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ ମାର୍ଗର ନାନା ଉପପଥରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଗମନ କରାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପଥରେ, ପୁରାତନ ପଥରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ବିଘ୍ନ ଜନ୍ମାଇ ଅଛନ୍ତି;

Yet my people have forgotten me, And burned incense to vanity; They stumble in their paths, the old ways, And walk in ways that have not been thrown up,

16 ଏଥିରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଦେଶକୁ ବିସ୍ମୟର ଓ ନିତ୍ୟ ଶୀସ୍‍ ଶବ୍ଦର ପାତ୍ର କରନ୍ତି; ତହିଁର ନିକଟ ଦେଇ ଗମନକାରୀ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟେକ ଲୋକ ବିସ୍ମୟାପନ୍ନ ହୋଇ ଆପଣା ମସ୍ତକ ହଲାଇବ।

To make their land a desolation, A perpetual hissing; Every one that passeth through it shall be amazed, And shake his head.

17 ଆମ୍ଭେ ଶତ୍ରୁ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ପୂର୍ବୀୟ ବାୟୁ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଛିନ୍ନ ହେଲା ପରି ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଛିନ୍ନଭିନ୍ନ କରିବା; ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିପଦ ଦିନରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଅଭିମୁଖ ନ ହୋଇ ବିମୁଖ ହେବା।”

I will scatter them before the enemy, as with the east wind; I will show them the back, and not the face, In the day of their calamity.

18 ତେବେ ସେମାନେ କହିଲେ, “ଆସ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଯିରିମୀୟ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ପରାମର୍ଶ କରୁ; କାରଣ ଯାଜକ ନିକଟରୁ ବ୍ୟବସ୍ଥା ଅବା ଜ୍ଞାନବାନ ନିକଟରୁ ମନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ଅଥବା ଭବିଷ୍ୟଦ୍‍ବକ୍ତା ନିକଟରୁ ବାକ୍ୟ ଲୁପ୍ତ ହେବ ନାହିଁ। ଆସ, ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ଜିହ୍ୱା ଦ୍ୱାରା ତାହାକୁ ପ୍ରହାର କରୁ, ପୁଣି ତାହାର କୌଣସି କଥାରେ ମନୋଯୋଗ ନ କରୁ।”

But they say, “Come, let us devise measures against Jeremiah; For the law shall not perish from the priest, Nor counsel from the wise, Nor the word from the prophet; Come, let us smite him with the tongue, And not give heed to any of his words.”

19 ହେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ, ମୋʼ ପ୍ରତି ମନୋଯୋଗ କର ଓ ମୋʼ ସଙ୍ଗେ ବିରୋଧକାରୀମାନଙ୍କର କଥାରେ ଅବଧାନ କର।

Give heed to me, O Jehovah, And hear the voice of my adversaries!

20 ମଙ୍ଗଳର ପରିଶୋଧରେ କି ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ କରାଯିବ? କାରଣ ସେମାନେ ମୋʼ ପ୍ରାଣ ପାଇଁ ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ଖୋଳିଅଛନ୍ତି। ମୁଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପ୍ରଚଣ୍ଡ କ୍ରୋଧ ଫେରାଇବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରେ ମଙ୍ଗଳଜନକ କଥା କହିବା ପାଇଁ କିପରି ତୁମ୍ଭ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ଠିଆ ହେଲି, ଏହା ସ୍ମରଣ କର।

Shall evil be returned for good? For they have digged a pit for me. Remember how I have stood before thee, To announce good to them, And to turn away thy wrath from them!

21 ଏହେତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସନ୍ତାନଗଣକୁ ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷରେ ସମର୍ପଣ କର ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଖଡ୍ଗର ପରାକ୍ରମରେ ଛାଡ଼ିଦିଅ; ଆଉ, ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାମାନେ ସନ୍ତାନହୀନା ଓ ବିଧବା ହେଉନ୍ତୁ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ପୁରୁଷମାନେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁୁରେ ସଂହାରିତ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଯୁବାଗଣ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଖଡ୍ଗରେ ହତ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ।

Therefore give thou up their sons to famine, And deliver them to the edge of the sword! Let their wives be childless and widows, Let their men be slain by pestilence, And their young men fall by the sword in battle!

22 ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଯେଉଁ ସମୟରେ ହଠାତ୍‍ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ସୈନ୍ୟଦଳ ଆଣିବ, ସେହି ସମୟରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସକଳ ଗୃହରୁ କ୍ରନ୍ଦନର ସ୍ୱର ଶୁଣାଯାଉ; କାରଣ ସେମାନେ ମୋତେ ଧରିବା ପାଇଁ ଗର୍ତ୍ତ ଖୋଳିଅଛନ୍ତି ଓ ମୋʼ ଚରଣ ପାଇଁ ଗୋପନରେ ଫାନ୍ଦ ପାତିଅଛନ୍ତି।

Let a cry be heard from their houses, When thou shalt bring a troop upon them suddenly! For they have digged a pit to take me, And hidden snares for my feet.

23 ତଥାପି ହେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ, ମୋତେ ବଧ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ମନ୍ତ୍ରଣାସବୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଜାଣୁଅଛ; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସେମାନଙ୍କର ଅଧର୍ମ କ୍ଷମା କର ନାହିଁ, କିଅବା ତୁମ୍ଭ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପାପ ଲିଭାଇ ଦିଅ ନାହିଁ; ମାତ୍ର ସେମାନେ ତୁମ୍ଭ ସମ୍ମୁଖରେ ନିପାତିତ ହେଉନ୍ତୁ; ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆପଣା କ୍ରୋଧ ସମୟରେ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ବ୍ୟବହାର କର।

Thou, O Jehovah, knowest all their plots against my life! Cover not their iniquity, And blot not out their sin from thy sight! But let them be overthrown before thee; Deal with them in the time of thy wrath!
