ମୋଶାଙ୍କ ଲିଖିତ ପ୍ରଥମ ପୁସ୍ତକ 23
1 ସାରାର ଆୟୁର ପରିମାଣ ଶହେ ସତାଇଶ ବର୍ଷ ଥିଲା; ସାରାର ଆୟୁ ଏତେ ବର୍ଷ ପରିମିତ।
And the lifetime of Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years; [these] were the years of the life of Sarah.
2 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ସାରା କିଣାନ ଦେଶସ୍ଥ କିରୀୟଥ୍-ଅର୍ବରେ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ହିବ୍ରୋଣରେ ମଲା। ଏଣୁ ଅବ୍ରହାମ ସାରା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଶୋକ ଓ କ୍ରନ୍ଦନ କରିବାକୁ ଭିତରକୁ ଗଲେ।
And Sarah died in Kiryath-arba, the same in Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
3 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବ୍ରହାମ ଆପଣା ମୃତା (ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା) ନିକଟରୁ ଉଠିଯାଇ ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ,
And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke unto the sons of Heth, saying,
4 “ମୁଁ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବିଦେଶୀ ଓ ପ୍ରବାସୀ ଅଟେ; ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ମୋତେ କବର ସ୍ଥାନର ଅଧିକାର ଦିଅ, ତହିଁରେ ମୁଁ ମୋʼ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିର ଅଗୋଚରରେ ମୋʼ ମୃତକୁ କବର ଦେବି।”
A stranger and a sojourner I am with you; give me a possession for a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
5 ତହୁଁ ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନମାନେ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, “ହେ ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ କଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ;
And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him:
6 ଆପଣ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପରାକ୍ରାନ୍ତ ରାଜା ଅଟନ୍ତି; ଏବେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଉତ୍ତମ କବର ସ୍ଥାନ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆପଣା ମୃତା ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାକୁ କବର ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ; ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ କେହି ନିଜ କବରରେ ଆପଣଙ୍କ ମୃତା ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାକୁ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ନିଷେଧ କରିବ ନାହିଁ।”
Hear us, my lord; a prince of God thou art among us; in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, so that thou mayest bury thy dead.
7 ସେତେବେଳେ ଅବ୍ରହାମ ଉଠି ତଦ୍ଦେଶୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲେ।
And Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the children of Heth.
8 ପୁଣି, କଥୋପକଥନ କରି କହିଲେ, “ମୋʼ ଦୃଷ୍ଟିର ବାହାରେ ମୋʼ ମୃତା ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାକୁ କବରରେ ରଖିବାକୁ ଯଦି ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କର ସମ୍ମତି ହୁଏ, ତେବେ ମୋʼ କଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ; ଆପଣମାନେ ମୋʼ ନିମନ୍ତେ ସୋହରର ପୁତ୍ର ଇଫ୍ରୋଣ ନିକଟରେ ନିବେଦନ କରନ୍ତୁ।
And he spoke with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and intercede for me with Ephron the son of Zochar,
9 ସେ ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ମୋହର କବର ସ୍ଥାନ ଅଧିକାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ମକ୍ପେଲାରେ ତାଙ୍କ କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ପ୍ରାନ୍ତରେ ଥିବା ଗୁହା ମୋତେ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ; ତହିଁରେ ଯେତେ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ହୁଏ, ତାହା ନେଇ ଦିଅନ୍ତୁ।”
That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which is his, which is at the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me, for a possession as a burying-place amongst you.
10 ସେତେବେଳେ ଇଫ୍ରୋଣ ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ବସିଥିଲା; ତେଣୁ, ହିତ୍ତୀୟ ଇଫ୍ରୋଣ ଆପଣା ନଗର-ଦ୍ୱାରରେ ପ୍ରବେଶକାରୀ ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲା,
And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth; and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, and of all those that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
11 “ପ୍ରଭୋ, ସେପରି ନ ହେଉ, ମୋʼ କଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ; ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ତନ୍ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥିତ ଗୁହା ଦେଲି; ମୁଁ ସ୍ୱବଂଶୀୟ ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ତାହା ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଦେଲି, ଆପଣ ନିଜ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାର ମୃତ ଦେହକୁ କବର ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ।”
Nay, my lord, hear me: the field I give to thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it to thee; in the presence of the sons of my people do I give it to thee; bury thy dead.
12 ତହିଁରେ ଅବ୍ରହାମ ସେହି ଦେଶୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଅଗ୍ରତେ ପ୍ରଣାମ କଲେ।
And Abraham bowed himself down before the people of the land.
13 ପୁଣି, ସେହି ଦେଶୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ଇଫ୍ରୋଣକୁ କହିଲେ, “ଆପଣ ଯଦି ମୋତେ ତାହା ଦେବେ, ତେବେ ନିବେଦନ କରୁଅଛି, ମୋʼ କଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ; ମୁଁ ସେହି କ୍ଷେତ୍ରର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ଦେଉଅଛି, ଆପଣ ତାହା ଗ୍ରହଣ କରନ୍ତୁ; ତହିଁ ଉତ୍ତାରେ ମୁଁ ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ମୋର ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାର ମୃତ ଦେହକୁ କବର ଦେବି।”
And he spoke to Ephron in the hearing of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wouldst only hear me; I will give the money for the field, take it off me, and I will bury my dead there.
14 ତହିଁରେ ଇଫ୍ରୋଣ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କୁ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଇ କହିଲା,
And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
15 “ପ୍ରଭୋ, ମୋʼ କଥା ଶୁଣନ୍ତୁ; ଭୂମି ଖଣ୍ଡକର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ତ ଚାରି ଶହ ଶେକଲ ରୂପା, ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଓ ଆମ୍ଭ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ତାହା କେତେ ମାତ୍ର? ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଆପଣ ନିଜ ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟାର ମୃତ ଦେହକୁ କବର ଦେଉନ୍ତୁ।”
My lord, hearken unto me: a piece of land worth four hundred shekels of silver, what is that between me and thee? only bury thy dead.
16 ଇଫ୍ରୋଣର ଏହି କଥା ଶୁଣି ଅବ୍ରହାମ ହିତ୍ତୀୟ ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ କର୍ଣ୍ଣଗୋଚରରେ ଇଫ୍ରୋଣ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଉକ୍ତ ସଂଖ୍ୟାନୁସାରେ ତତ୍କାଳୀନ ବଣିକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରଚଳିତ ଚାରି ଶହ ଶେକଲ ରୂପା ତୌଲି ଇଫ୍ରୋଣକୁ ଦେଲେ।
And Abraham understood the meaning of Ephron; and Abraham weighed out to Ephron the silver which he had named in the hearing of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current with the merchant.
17 ଏହେତୁ ମମ୍ରିର ପୂର୍ବବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ମକ୍ପେଲାରେ ଇଫ୍ରୋଣର ଯେଉଁ କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଥିଲା, ସେହି କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଓ ତନ୍ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥିତ ଗୁହା ଓ ତହିଁର ଚତୁଃସୀମାନ୍ତର୍ଗତ ବୃକ୍ଷସମୂହ,
And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all its borders round about, were made sure
18 ଏହିସବୁରେ ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ, ଅର୍ଥାତ୍, ତାହାର ନଗର-ଦ୍ୱାରରେ ପ୍ରବେଶକାରୀ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତରେ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କର ସ୍ୱତ୍ୱାଧିକାର ସ୍ଥିର କରାଗଲା।
Unto Abraham for a bought possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
19 ଏଥିଉତ୍ତାରେ ଅବ୍ରହାମ ମମ୍ରିର ପୂର୍ବବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ମକ୍ପେଲା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରସ୍ଥିତ ଗୁହାରେ ଆପଣା ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ସାରାକୁ କବର ଦେଲେ। ସେହି ସ୍ଥାନ କିଣାନ ଦେଶସ୍ଥ ହିବ୍ରୋଣ।
And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre, which is Hebron, in the land of Canaan.
20 ଏହିରୂପେ କବର ସ୍ଥାନର ଅଧିକାର ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେହି କ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଓ ତନ୍ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥିତ ଗୁହାରେ ଅବ୍ରହାମଙ୍କର ଅଧିକାର ହେତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ସ୍ଥିରୀକୃତ ହେଲା।
And the field, with the cave that is therein, was made sure unto Abraham for a possession as a burying-place by the sons of Heth.
