ପ୍ରେରିତ 26

1 ସେଥିରେ ଆଗ୍ରିପ୍ପା ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆପଣା ସପକ୍ଷରେ କଥା କହିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅନୁମତି ଦିଆଗଲା। ସେଥିରେ ପାଉଲ ହସ୍ତ ବିସ୍ତାର କରି ଆପଣା ପକ୍ଷ ସମର୍ଥନ କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ,

Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You are permitted to speak for yourself." So Paul stretched forth his hand and began to make his defense.

2 ହେ ରାଜନ ଆଗ୍ରିପ୍ପା, ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ମୋ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଯେ ସମସ୍ତ ଅଭିଯୋଗ କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ମୁଁ ଯେ ଆଜି ଆପଣଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ଆତ୍ମପକ୍ଷ ସମର୍ଥନ କରିବାକୁ ସୁଯୋଗ ପାଇଅଛି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ମୁଁ ଆପଣାକୁ ସମୃଦ୍ଧିମାନ ମନେ କରୁଅଛି,

"I think myself happy, King Agrippa, that I am to make my defense before you this day, in regard to all the accusations brought against me by the Jews;

3 ବିଶେଷରେ ଏହି କାରଣରୁ ଯେ, ଆପଣ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରଚଳିତ ସମସ୍ତ ରୀତିନୀତି ଓ ମତାମତ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ନିପୁଣ ଅଟନ୍ତି; ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଧୈର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଧରି ମୋହର କଥା ଶୁଣିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ବିନତି କରୁଅଛି।

"especially since you are an export in all Jewish customs and questions. I pray you, expert in all Jewish customs and questions. I pray you, hear me with patience.

4 ଯୌବନକାଳାବଧି ଆଦ୍ୟରୁ ସ୍ୱଜାତି ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଓ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରେ ମୋହର ଆଚାର-ବ୍ୟବହାର ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଜାଣନ୍ତି;

"The kind of life I have lived from my youth upward among my own nation and at Jerusalem, all that early life of mine, is well known to all the Jews.

5 ସେମାନେ ମୋତେ ପ୍ରଥମରୁ ଜାଣିଥିବାରୁ ଯଦି ଇଚ୍ଛା କରନ୍ତି, ତେବେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେଇ ପାରନ୍ତି ଯେ, ମୁଁ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଧର୍ମର ସର୍ବାପେକ୍ଷା କଠୋର ମତ ଅନୁସାରେ ଫାରୂଶୀ ହୋଇ ଜୀବନଯାପନ କଲି।

"They know me of old, if they are willing to testify, how that according to the strict sect of our religion, I lived a Pharisee.

6 ପୁଣି, ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପିତୃ-ପୁରୁଷଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଈଶ୍ବର ଯେଉଁ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା କରିଥିଲେ, ସେହି ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞାର ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଶା ନିମନ୍ତେ ମୁଁ ବିଚାରିତ ହେବା ପାଇଁ ଏବେ ଠିଆ ହୋଇଅଛି।

"Today I am standing trial because of the hope of the promise made by God to our ancestors,

7 ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ବାର ଗୋଷ୍ଠୀ ସେହି ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞାର ଫଳ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତି ଆଶାରେ ଦିବାରାତ୍ର ଏକାଗ୍ର ଚିତ୍ତରେ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସେବା କରୁଅଛନ୍ତି। ହେ ରାଜନ, ସେହି ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଶା ହେତୁ ମୁଁ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଅଭିଯୁକ୍ତ ହେଉଅଛି।

"a promise which our twelve tribes, earnestly serving God night and day, hope to attain. It is concerning this hope, King Agrippa, that I am accused by the Jews.

8 ଈଶ୍ବର ଯେ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କୁ ଉଠାନ୍ତି, ତାହା କାହିଁକି ଆପଣମାନଙ୍କ ବିଚାରରେ ଅବିଶ୍ୱସ୍ତ ବୋଲି ବୋଧ ହୁଏ?

"Why is it deemed incredible by you all, if God raises the dead?

9 ନାଜରିତୀୟ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନାମ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ମୋହର ଅନେକ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରିବା ଯେ କର୍ତ୍ତବ୍ୟ ଏହା ମୁଁ ନିଜେ ମନେ କରିଥିଲି।

"I indeed once thought with myself that I ought to do many things against the name of Jesus, the Nazarene.

10 ଆଉ, ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରରେ ମୁଁ ଏହା ମଧ୍ୟ କରିଥିଲି, ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ କ୍ଷମତା ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୋଇ ସାଧୁମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ଅନେକଙ୍କୁ କାରାଗାରରେ ବନ୍ଦ କରିଥିଲି, ପୁଣି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ପ୍ରାଣଦଣ୍ଡ ସମୟରେ ମୁଁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ମୋହର ମତ ଦେଇଥିଲି,

"And this also I did in Jerusalem. Armed with authority from the chief priests, I shut up many of the saints in prison, and when they were condemned to death I gave my vote against them.

11 ଆଉ ସମସ୍ତ ସମାଜଗୃହରେ ଥରକୁଥର ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ଶାସ୍ତି ଦେଇ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କ ନିନ୍ଦା କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ବାଧ୍ୟ କରୁଥିଲି, ପୁଣି, ସେମାନଙ୍କ ବିରୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଉନ୍ନତ ହୋଇ ବିଦେଶୀୟ ନଗରଗୁଡ଼ିକ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ସୁଧା ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ତାଡ଼ନା କରୁଥିଲି।

"In all the synagogues also I punished them oftentimes, and tried to make them blaspheme; and in my mad fury I was pursuing them even to foreign cities.

12 ଏହି ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ପ୍ରଧାନ ଯାଜକମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ କ୍ଷମତା ଓ ଆଦେଶପତ୍ର ଘେନି ଦମ୍ମେଶକକୁ ଯାଉଥିବା ସମୟରେ,

"On this errand I was traveling to Damascus one day, armed with authority and commission of the chief priests,

13 ହେ ରାଜନ, ମଧ୍ୟାହ୍ନ କାଳରେ ପଥ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆକାଶରୁ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଠାରୁ ଅଧିକ ତେଜୋମୟ ଆଲୋକ ମୋହର ଓ ମୋʼ ସହଯାତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କ ଚତୁଃଦିଗରେ ପ୍ରକାଶମାନ ହେବାର ଦେଖିଲି।

"when at noon, as I journeyed, O King, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and around those who journeyed with me.

14 ଆମ୍ଭେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ଭୂମିରେ ପଡ଼ିଯାଆନ୍ତେ, ମୁଁ ଏବ୍ରୀ ଭାଷାରେ ମୋ ପ୍ରତି ଏହି ବାଣୀ ଶୁଣିଲି, “ଶାଉଲ, ଶାଉଲ, କାହିଁକି ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ତାଡ଼ନା କରୁଅଛ? ପାଞ୍ଚଣ କଣ୍ଟାମୁନରେ ଗୋଇଠା ମାରିବା ତୁମ୍ଭ ପକ୍ଷରେ କଷ୍ଟକର।”

"We all fell to the ground; and I heard a voice saying to me in Hebrew. "‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is hard for you to kick against the goad.’

15 ସେଥିରେ ମୁଁ କହିଲି, ପ୍ରଭୁ, ଆପଣ କିଏ? ତେଣୁ ପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ “ଯେଉଁ ଯୀଶୁଙ୍କୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ତାଡ଼ନା କରୁଅଛ, ଆମ୍ଭେ ସେହି।

"‘Who are you, Lord?’ I said. "And the Lord said. ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.

16 କିନ୍ତୁ ଉଠ, ପାଦରେ ଭରା ଦେଇ ଠିଆ ହୁଅ, କାରଣ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆମ୍ଭର ସେବକ, ଆଉ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭର ଯେଉଁ ଯେଉଁ ଦର୍ଶନ ପାଇଅଛ ଓ ପାଇବ, ସେହି ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟର ସାକ୍ଷୀସ୍ୱରୂପେ ମନୋନୀତ କରିବା ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଦର୍ଶନ ଦେଇଅଛୁ।

"‘But rise and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you in order to appoint you my minister and my witness both of what you have already seen and of those things in which I will appear to you.

17 ସ୍ୱଜାତି ଓ ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ଯେପରି ଅନ୍ଧକାରରୁ ଆଲୋକ ପ୍ରତି ଓ ଶୟତାନର ଶକ୍ତିରୁ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଫେରନ୍ତି, ପୁଣି, ପାପ କ୍ଷମା ଓ ଆମ୍ଭଠାରେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପବିତ୍ରୀକୃତ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅଧିକାରପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି,

"‘I will deliver you from the Jewish people, and from the Gentiles to whom I am sending you to open their eyes

18 ସେଥିପାଇଁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ଚକ୍ଷୁ ଉନ୍ମୋଚନ କରିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ପଠାଉଅଛୁ, ଆଉ ଆମ୍ଭେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ସେମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ରକ୍ଷା କରିବୁ।”

"‘so that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, in order to receive remission of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

19 ଅତଏବ, ହେ ରାଜନ ଆଗ୍ରିପ୍ପା ମୁଁ ସେହି ସ୍ୱର୍ଗୀୟ ଦର୍ଶନର ଅବାଧ୍ୟ ହେଲି ନାହିଁ,

"So then, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision;

20 କିନ୍ତୁ ପ୍ରଥମେ ଦମ୍ମେଶକର ଓ ଯିରୂଶାଲମ ସହରର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ, ପରେ ଯିହୂଦିୟା ପ୍ରଦେଶର ସମସ୍ତ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ, ପୁଣି, ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ପ୍ରଚାର କରିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲି, ଯେପରି ସେମାନେ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରି ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ଫେରିଆସନ୍ତି ଓ ମନ-ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନର ଉପଯୁକ୍ତ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟ କରନ୍ତି।

"but I proceeded to preach, first to those in Damascus, and then in Jerusalem and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they must repent and turn to God and do deeds worthy of repentance.

21 ଏହି କାରଣରୁ କେତେକ ଯିହୁଦୀମାନେ ମନ୍ଦିର ମଧ୍ୟରେ ମୋତେ ଧରି ବଧ କରିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରୁଥିଲେ।

"For this reason the Jews seized me in the temple, and tried to kill me.

22 ଅତଏବ, ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କଠାରୁ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ହୋଇ ମୁଁ ଆଜି ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ “କ୍ଷୁଦ୍ର ଓ ମହାନ” ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସାକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଦେଇ ଆସୁଅଛି, ପୁଣି, ଭାବବାଦୀମାନେ ଓ ମୋଶା ଯାହା ଯାହା ଘଟିବ ବୋଲି କହିଅଛନ୍ତି, ସେହିସବୁ ଛଡ଼ା ଆଉ କିଛି କହୁ ନାହିଁ,

"But having obtained the help that comes from God, I stand even to this day witnessing both to small and great, saying nothing except what the prophets and Moses said should come;

23 ଅର୍ଥାତ୍‍ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟ ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ଦୁଃଖଭୋଗ କରି ପୁଣି, ପ୍ରଥମେ ମୃତମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରୁ ପୁନରୁତ୍ଥିତ ହୋଇ ସ୍ୱଜାତି ଓ ଅଣଯିହୁଦୀମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଆଲୋକ ପ୍ରକାଶ କରିବେ।

"how that the Christ must suffer, and how he should be the first to rise from the dead, and should bring a message of light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles."

24 ଏହି ପ୍ରକାରେ ସେ ଅାତ୍ମପକ୍ଷ ସମର୍ଥନ କରୁଥିବା ସମୟରେ ଫେଷ୍ଟସ୍ ଉଚ୍ଚସ୍ୱରରେ କହିଲେ, ପାଉଲ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ପାଗଳ; ବହୁ ବିଦ୍ୟା ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ପାଗଳ କରୁଅଛି।

As Paul thus made his defense, Festus exclaimed in a loud voice. "Paul, you are raving mad; your great learning is driving you mad."

25 କିନ୍ତୁ ପାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ହେ ମହାମହିମ ଫେଷ୍ଟସ୍, ମୁଁ ପାଗଳ ନୁହେଁ, ମାତ୍ର ସତ୍ୟ ଓ ସ୍ଥିର ବୁଦ୍ଧିର ବାକ୍ୟ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତ କରୁଅଛି।

"I am not mad, most noble Festus," said Paul,

26 ରାଜା ତ ଏସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟ ଜାଣନ୍ତି, ଆଉ ମୁଁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସାହସରେ କଥା କହୁଅଛି, କାରଣ ଏହି ସମସ୍ତ ବିଷୟର କୌଣସି କଥା ତାଙ୍କର ଅଜଣା ନାହିଁ ବୋଲି ମୋହର ବିଶ୍ୱାସ; ଏହା ତ ଗୋପନରେ କରା ହୋଇ ନାହିଁ।

"I am speaking words of sober truth. For the King, to whom I am speaking freely, knows of these matters. I am persuaded that not one of these things has escaped his notice; for these things were not done in a corner.

27 ହେ ରାଜନ ଆଗ୍ରିପ୍ପା, ଆପଣ କଅଣ ଭାବବାଦୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି? ଆପଣ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ମୁଁ ଜାଣେ।

"King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe."

28 ସେଥିରେ ଆଗ୍ରିପ୍ପା ପାଉଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଅଳ୍ପ କଥାରେ ତ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଆମ୍ଭକୁ ଖ୍ରୀଷ୍ଟିୟାନ କରିପାର ବୋଲି ମନେ କରୁଅଛ।

Agrippa answered, "In short, you are doing your best to persuade me to become a Christian."

29 ପାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ଅଳ୍ପରେ ହେଉ କି ବହୁତରେ ହେଉ, କେବଳ ଆପଣ ନୁହଁନ୍ତି, ମାତ୍ର ଯେତେ ଲୋକ ଆଜି ମୋହର କଥା ଶୁଣୁଅଛନ୍ତି, ଯେପରି ସେମାନେ ସମସ୍ତେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଏହି ବନ୍ଧନ ବିନା ମୋହରି ପରି ହୁଅନ୍ତି, ଏହା ମୁଁ ଈଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରୁଅଛି।

"Long or short," answered Paul, "my prayer to God is that not only you but all who are my hearers this day might become such as I am, save for these chains."

30 ସେଥିରେ ରାଜା, ଶାସନକର୍ତ୍ତା, ବର୍ଣ୍ଣୀକୀ ଓ ସେମାନଙ୍କ ସହିତ ବସିଥିବା ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିମାନେ ଉଠିଯାଇ,

Then the king rose, and Bernice, and those who were sitting with him.

31 ଅନ୍ତର ହୋଇ ପରସ୍ପର କଥାବାର୍ତ୍ତା କରୁ କରୁ କହିଲେ, ଏହି ଲୋକ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ କି ବନ୍ଧନ ଯୋଗ୍ୟ କୌଣସି କର୍ମ କରି ନାହିଁ।

When they had withdrawn they continued talking to one another. "This man is doing nothing," they said, "for which he deserves death or imprisonment."

32 ଆଉ ଆଗ୍ରିପ୍ପା ଫେଷ୍ଟସ୍‌ଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଏହି ଲୋକ ଯଦି କାଇସରଙ୍କ ଛାମୁରେ ବିଚାରିତ ହେବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରି ନ ଥାଆନ୍ତା, ତେବେ ମୁକ୍ତ କରାଯାଇ ପାରିଥାଆନ୍ତା।

And Agrippa said to Festus, "If he had not appealed to Caesar, he might have been set free."
